Ok, I'll bite. How do you know this??

We went on vacation for 2 weeks and when we got home the basement had a bunch of stuff moved and 'goarge' was written on the chalk board of the toy chest.

There had been no one in the basement the whole time.

The only people who came into the house were the neighbors to feed the fish and water the plants every day and they didn't go downstairs.

Weird things happened in the house when we were not home for 2-3 days almost every time.

One time we came home and all the coffee cups were lined up on the table in a row.

That was the only time it was upstairs otherwise it was always downstairs that stuff happened.

All of our dogs except one absolutely refused to go downstairs and the cats would sit at the door and hiss.
Holy chit.

Uh, yeah. I''ve had some "ghostly" encounters, which in general I don''t think are all that unusual, lots of people have them. But this, is different.....

@somethingshiney: I just read back through the posts and saw that you and I experience the same thing! I can''t hear thoughts all the time, but if I''m in the same room as someone it''s more prominent. There have been times too when I''ve woken up out of sleep and just pulled to call someone I haven''t spoken to in aeons, and turns out it was to save them from doing something really dangerous or stupid!

I think we''re ''mind reading twins''!

Hmmm... I''m a libra too. ??? correlation???

Unusual things about me:

I've lived with a ghost/spirit. She liked me; but hated my neighbors and terroized them.

I once had a really accurate tarot card reading. Weird feeling; especially since I don't believe in them.

I have heightened intuition, ESP, whatever.

I've never had an operation of any kind.

I've lived directly in the path of two of the historically worst tornado outbreaks.

According to family genealogy, I am descended on Dad's side from Patrick Henry ("Give me liberty, or give me death.")

I've been the foreman of a federal jury.

I was too scared of falling to ever learn to ride a bike

1. I was on the Oprah Show

2. I have an extremely high pain tolerance...and had a bone removed from my foot and never took pain meds, and was up walking the day after my tummy tuck.

3. I met my husband on a dating website, and we got engaged 3 months later...we''ve incredibly happily married.
Whoa - You are amazing IHC. Anyone that can do that has severely stunted nerve endings - I''ve never known such pain in my life!! Well done!

Wow, what an interesting group we have here.
I have nothing to report on myself. Suppose I''m very boring
in that respect. But I know someone who has been:

Mrs. North

Mrs. South

Mrs. West

Is there a Mr. East out there?

1. I had a very vivid dream the night John''s grandfather died (I was very close to him, and we had just moved to CA from NJ) where he came to me and said goodbye, told me how much he loved me and was happy I was his grandaughter (he always called me this), and told me to take care of John, to tell him how proud he was of him, and he knew I would get John through his passing. I woke up from the dream, frantic, and told John to call his grandfather (it was the middle of the night), his mother had just found the body.

2. I can touch the tip of my tongue to my nose as well... and have a very funny story about it actually. But it has to be told in person.

3. I never had a celebrity crush. I always preferred ''real'' people. There are celebrities that I of course found attractive... but it''s more in the way I would find a painting attactive.

4. When I was a kid my mother grounded me for a YEAR for standing NEXT to a friend who was smoking.

5. I was in my late 20''s the first time I broke a bone (thank god) and it was my pinky toe.

How long did you guys live in this house? And WHY?? lol

My whole childhood.
My Dad bought it in 1968 the year before I was born.
My Dad lived there until he passed away in the house in 99.

Goarge didn't bug anyone much, if something wierd was going on all you had to do was say knock it off Goarge.

A friend of mine lived in a house with a poltergeist and his mom had the scars to prove it.
They ended up tearing down the house because no one could live there.
That was scary.

Bloods Point Road in Boone County is also scary.
A lot of it has been faked over the years and some people like to scare the kids that visit there but enough real stuff has happened to make it spooky.

Do you have any idea who he was Karl?

Wow.

Did you pronounce it like George? or gorge? And ditto who they were.

I heard about a house not too far from here that was so haunted the people just up and moved one day, left everything. I "think" it was finally torn down because it wouldn't sell. Our town is somewhat nationally known for its haunted houses.

Do you have any idea who he was Karl?
No could find no record to tie the name to the area and he never communicated in writing other than that one time.
My computer was in the basement and I used to spend all hours of the night down there online.
I swear that sometimes he would spend hours looking over my shoulder.
Would make the hair on the back of my neck stand up but didn''t bug me.

My parents would get mad if we talked about it so never did really discuss it.
Good Christian folks didn''t have a ghost in their house and you sure didn''t admit to talking to one.

I could not, should not, would not, absolutely COULD NOT live in a house if I thought it contained ghosts! That stuff is way too spooky and freaky to me!

It''s got to be real and here in the present for me to want to talk. . . I don''t know how you did that!

The house I grew up in was haunted by a ghost named Goarge. (yes that is how his name is spelled)
Was it your toy chest?
Was it someone else's toy chest and they meant to write "garage" on it? As in, store it in the garage? lol!

Did you try Goarge as a last name?

Do you think the most meant "gorge"? As in, "If you use your computer down here anymore I'm going to gorge your eyes out!!!!"

Hmm...

1. My dad left a loaded handgun out on our coffee table when I was 6 and brother was 11, and my brother missed shooting me in the back with the gun by less than an inch.

2. I''ve never broken a bone.

3. I absolutely LOVE donating blood, and getting shots.

4. I was still losing my baby teeth until 10th grade.

5. I have constant recurring dreams about toilets overflowing.

6. I''ve never had a cavity

Was my toy chest bought brand new.
What was kinda strange was the people next door last name was George.
But we never found a connection their either.
They moved in about the same time my dad did and no relatives died there.
That was long before the computer I was just a kid at that time maybe 7 or so.
Overall was just strange.
He wouldn''t communicate when we wanted to but if he was doing something we noticed and we said knock it off Goarge he would stop.

Wow. All of these stories are really interesting. I just love ghost stories. I don''t know about actually experiencing them, but I love to hear about them.
2.gif

My grandmother died in my aunts house when I was in the 3rd grade. The night she passed away my mom and a few aunts were in her room with her (She had cancer). My mom woke up in the middle of the night hearing someone playing a harp (or some kind of soft music). She woke up my aunt and asked if she heard anything and they said no. My grandmother passed away right after.

Before I moved in with my aunt we were laying on my bed (which was the room my grandmother died in) talking about personal things with the family. In the middle of talking the music box started playing. After I moved in I was laying on my bed and I smelled this really sweet, floral-y scent. I called my aunt in there to see if she was wearing a new perfume and she said no and when I tried describing the scent she said she has smelled it too on occasion and thinks it is my grandmother. Even when I go back home I can feel her presence. She was wonderful, so it doesn''t scare me.

When my brother was 3 he was on my parents bed and sat up and just started staring infront/above him and pointing. There was nothing there so my mom asked him what he was doing and he said ''granny,'' which is what we called my grandmother.

Another aunts house is seriously haunted. Pots and pans will fly out of the sink or off the stove and onto the floor. Food in the pantry will come flying out onto the floor. Sometimes she will find food (like a jar of peanut butter) in the hallway or other random places. She''s taken several pictures where there is a smoke like form in them. Those are pretty scary and I don''t think I could ever live with that.

you guys are creepy. LOL

I like to watched Discovery channel''s "A haunting" -- a show about real life haunted houses.
Storm, why didn''t your parents move when they found out the unusual things in the house? You can never pay me to live in a house like that. That''s too scary.

I have no idea. I would find a way to move. They don''t have much money, so that may have a lot to do with it. She just laughs it off and tells us the stories, while our eyes are bugged out and jaw on the floor. lol. It is just her and her husband. I think they''ve ''named'' them and just tell them to stop... and they do. How weird.

- I almost drowned when I was about 5, and yes my life did pass before my eyes, but all jumbled up.
- I''ve been in 3 hurricanes and I don''t live in hurricane country - was there on work or vacation all 3 times!
- I can write cursive backwards, starting at the end of the word and writing to the left, finishing with the beginning of the first letter of the word.
- I once spent a week taking a deposition inside a federal penitentiary, and the deponent couldn''t tell me his real name because he was in the federal witness relocation program.
- I''ve avoided getting mugged twice - once because I was so angry and once because I was so nice.

LAJen:
I''ve worked night shift for the past 3 years. So I sleep all kinds of crazy hours. Whenever I try to force myself to sleep when I''m really not tired enough, I have these really crazy out-of-body experiences. They usually start out like this: My ears are ringing, and my body feels tingly. The ringing gets louder and louder. Sometimes I can wake myself up at this point, but if I can''t, my whole body feels paralyzed. I know I''m lying in bed, but I can''t wake up, can''t move. The ONLY thing I can control is my breathing. If FI is in bed beside me, I try to quicken my breathing so he can wake me up (if he''s still awake, that is). If I don''t wake up, I start to float. Sometimes I float up to the ceiling, sometimes through the roof into the sky. Sometimes I can guide myself through the door or down the hall. It''s really fascinating. One time I floated through the roof, and I could look down on all the houses. The stars were amazing and the moon was huge. I enjoy the floating part, but the ringing in my ears is the scary thing. It gets SO LOUD, and it doesn''t stop until I wake up. I''ve never, in these dreams, looked back at my own body laying in bed, although I''ve tried. Sometimes I''m in my own bedroom, and sometimes I''m in strange houses. I''d say I have one of these dreams once every 2 months or so, for the past 3 years.

Now, before you all think I''m a kook, apparently there is such a thing as "sleep paralysis", and it''s not so uncommon. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1544705/''Flying''-in-your-sleep-may-be-a-paralysis.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

Other true unusual facts about me:

My landlord OD''d (Elvis-style, on the john and all) in the basement of my duplex. And I got to find him. And I still live here
33.gif

I had this dream the night before a trip to atlantic City: I was in a parking garage, looking for my car. I was on the 3rd level. My car wasn''t there. I went upstairs. But upstairs was level 3. Up another flight. Level 3. Down a couple flights. Level 3. I couldn''t get off level 3, no matter what I did. As soon as I got in the casino, I went to the roulette table. Why did I only put $2 on #3? Because I thought it wouldn''t come out. It did. It makes me mad at myself to even think about that!!

oooh all these ghostie stories are scary. Maybe we should start a thread dedicated to them. I would only read during daylight hours of course!

I have remembered another thing but its not as exciting as the ghost stuff!

When my daughter was around 3 years old she had a really bad cold. I was keeping a very close eye on her because she''d had pneumonia as a baby. One night I was fast asleep and somewhere in the distance I heard a clanging noise. Like two metal pipes being hit off each other. It got louder and louder till it woke me up. It was right outside my window. I got up and looked outside and suddenly the noise stopped. There was nobody out there. The street was empty. It was then that I became aware that my son was really struggling to breathe in the next room. I ran in and he was totally blue and almost unconscious. I dread to think what would have happened if that noise hadn''t woken me up. We got him an ambulance and he spent time in hospital. For some reason his airways had swelled up so much he couldn''t breathe. Probably some sort of virus the doctors said.
