Two diamonds to compare for engagement

I'm searching around for a round diamond to be placed in a white gold halo setting. Two of them have made the cut so far.

I have no strict requirements on weight other than 1 ct or larger, and I am pretty set on using Blue Nile for this purchase due to my financing already in place with them.

Can someone look over these two options for me?

In my mind I feel like I might know which of these two is the better choice, but I want to see what others feel before I provide some bias here. I am also not stuck on I color, but I felt it was an okay deal given the cuts and the slight fluorescence potentially countering any yellowing.

Thanks for your thoughts!

#2 is better. 1 is slightly deep and VVS2 is a bit overkill.

You agreed with what was in my mind. I am no expert in this stuff, but based on the minimal research I've tried to do in the last week, #2 seems like a very nice cut.

Do you think this would be a nice engagement diamond? Would I have been better off looking for a smaller weight with better color in the same price range, or do you feel the cut and slight fluorescence of #2 will make up for that some and produce a beautiful piece to look at?

I color should be fine unless the recipient is color sensitive. The angles and inclusion plot all look great to me so I think it would look great IRL. Do you have photos/videos or ASET/IS images for the stones?

Blue Nile has a 360 picture for #2: https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...S&track=viewDiamondDetails&click_id=705546361

It states pending/sold because I have it on hold already.

The first diamond is here, but only sample photo: https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...S&track=viewDiamondDetails&click_id=885434292

It looks great!

I think #2 looks really good! I would ask for IS or ASET, but generally speaking this should be a good performer.

Option 2 is much better. 34.5 crown is more complimentary to 40.6 pavilion. It's not quite as deep either.

Falls on edge of ideal per AGS charts. Depending on GIA averaging and rounding of values, it seems to have a good shot of staying ideal (larger box I drew).

I'd reject option 1 altogether. 35.5 crown is not complimentary to 40.8 pavilion. Depth is acceptable at 62.3 but option 2 is your winner.

Make sure you request an ASET or idealscope image to confirm. Also might have BN verify with their supplier that the medium fluor isn't causing any cloudy or hazy issues. Doesn't appear so but better to ask.

Thanks for all of this and to the others who have responded as well! I'm at least happy that as someone who has known nothing about diamonds a week ago that I at least applied the research and we all picked the same one between the two. I'm also happy to hear that the sentiment seems to be this is a good diamond for an engagement ring. Big moment! :)

I'll definitely ask for the ASET or idealscope and verify cloudiness as well. All good ideas.

I've opted to put this into a double halo rounded cushion setting. I know this is all perception, but any objections to that? It looks like this (closest stone I could find to mine in the same setting):
