One from Jerry Newman (Gemart), the second from Scott Laborie (Etsy).
I'll decide which one I like best and have a ring designed around it and sell the other. Both are synthetic. DSC_0702.JPGIMG_20181231_173838.jpg

I love the color on the bottom one! What size is it?

I like the bottom one too. Is that the one from Scott?

Definitely bottom on the basis of those pictures. On another note something looks slightly wrong with the top picture, as if the camera was struggling to get the colour accurately but blue tinged everything instead. It might look a bit different in real life, so I would probably wait to see them in real life before dwelling too much on the issue.

That's what I'm thinking. I will decide once I have them both in hand.

And if you don't want Jerry's, please tag me!!:wavey:
So excited to see them both, hope you truly love one of them!

Yes, the bottom one is from Scott. I can't wait to see it.

Ooh I hope you like it! I have one of Scott's and I love it. It's the perfect shade of blue for me :) Can't wait to see pictures of it when it comes in!

Will do. I'll post pictures of both of them when I get them.
Right now my biggest concern is that I hope they aren't too tall, as I want a ring designed to sit as low as I can get it....because I'm clumsy and bang into stuff a lot.:D I may not have thought this ring design through well enough.

What's the depth of the stones? I am clumsy too, but most rings 6 to 7mm off the finger are low enough for me.

C-D, the one from Jerry is 3.88 ct and measures 10.4 x 7.9 x 6.3 mm. I don't have the measurements from the bottom one from Scott, but I do know that it's 4.38 ct.

I think both stones look great, but I am a huge fan of Jerry’s cutting. I had no idea he was cutting synthetic stone and am interested to find out more. Did you commission the stone? Did he have the rough on hand?
The lighting in each photo is different and I am curious to see how the colors look side by side in person. I’m glad you were able to find the stones you were looking for!

Yes, I commissioned him cutting the stone and he had the rough on hand. On his webpage, where he shows past stones he's worked on, scroll all the way down to the bottom and next to last is a similar stone - there he discusses cutting synthetic.
I hate that synthetic stones get such a bad rep. For some stones, it's probably nigh impossible to get a synthetic stone to look like a real stone, BUT the reports for spinel, sapphire, and others sound positive. I mean, just look at what Moissonite did for diamonds. I do appreciate that real stones have "character" with their inclusions, maybe uneven coloring - things like that - but I also can't see myself paying thousands for a real stone as the same size as a synthetic when I simply want "a sparkly blue stone" or "sparkly red stone" to put in a setting. Believe me, I do appreciate real stones, but synthetics allows me to purchase and enjoy something that I otherwise wouldn't come close to being able to afford...or at least justify purchasing.
And, just in case someone doesn't have any synthetic rough on hand, it's only about $100 or less for a whole boule of it, so you can always buy some and send it to get it cut. I may indeed do just that in the future in order to get some spinels in other interesting colors. Take a look at this video of some of the many colors available:

Thanks for the info @SouthernGent . Look at all of those shades of blue! I doubt I will ever be able to purchase a decent size natural blue spinel, so this is a great option.
I’m looking forward to pictures and hearing what you think once you receive the stones =)2.

Yeah, I'm thinking about a spinel for each season - my blue one for everyday wear, an orange one for the fall around Halloween time, maybe a red one for Christmas and Valentines. Prolly gonna need a green one for St. Patrick's day too. ;-)

Holy wow! That's a lot of different colours. I may feel even more of a lab spinel itch that will need scratching eventually lmao!! I thought it was cured with the stone I already had! Omg. Want.

Edit: Here's a picture from Jerry's website of the spinel that got me started down the road with him cutting one for me.

Ha, I bought this one from Jerry! I always think of it as a lab Aquamarine (IRL the color is very much Santa Maria Aqua) rather than a lab Spinel, that's why I didn't post it in your other "lab-created blue spinels" thread.

Looking forward to seeing your pics and hearing your comments re: your two new Spinels coming your way!

Got any pictures, marymm?

@SouthernGent excited to see what you think IRL!! I was thinking of having Jerry cut one for me if I end up buying a boule of "electric blue".

Any updates??

That's a very poor picture of it. It doesn't look quite that dark in real life.

Ooh yay!! What do you think??
The first thing I said when I opened the package and saw it was, "Wow!"
I really like it and I can't wait to get the second one from Scott to compare.
Here's a picture that shows the true color.20190111_130434.jpg

It’s gorgeous! I would love to see a picture of it in the east/west orientation like it will be in your ring.

This is about the best I can do. Sitting atop my wedding band. It looks like just the right size to me.
