Protective trademarks aren’t anything new ... in fact, it can be argued that it was more imperative to protect her “brand” from theft after her father became POTUS because of added notoriety. Important to note that these patents were applied for in 2016, which reasonably validates the aforementioned statement. AP addresses this as well in the snip below.

The idea that Trump’s name was trademarked for voting machines may have been an attempt to prevent others from actually doing it for political, financial or malicious purposes, and they may not have any plans to actually create/deploy voting machines. I’ve not seen/heard any mention of them outside the patent application.

Just think of him as performing his special skill at America's Got Talent whenever he appears on stage for a speech, and you'll probably come away more entertained, less irate than if you try to take him seriously.
