You're right, you're right. I guess I'm just trying to be proactive since I've heard some people spend months and months on the lookout for the right stone. Truthfully, he won't be able to buy a stone without my help. But I suppose I'll wait until he's ready. For now, I will try and chillax.Gypsy|1349297420|3278817 said:If he's not ready to buy then looking on ebay is an exercise in frustration. When he is ready, we'll help you find the right stone!
We haven't been able to see much in person. I know of one antique dealer and we saw her stuff - all she has is rings. She only had one in the size I'm looking for - it was a 1.04 OEC and it was either dirty or ugly, I couldn't really tell. Had no life, no sparkle. She told me she has the most antique rings out of everyone in the city.mama_monkey|1349308990|3278934 said:Thanks lin_ny! I am a total jewelry newbie -- the rest of my jewelry stash has been given or bequeathed to me, so this was my first purchase -- as such, any compliment is much appreciated.
I forgot to add that it's actually a .75 carat and my finger is between a 3.75 and 4.
I have tried on the ring that Enerchi is talking about. I actually liked the setting, even though I'm not a YG girl, and the ring was very pretty and sweet. At the time I was being bombarded with new info, so I don't think I processed everything, but I remember thinking "hey this doesn't look at all a buttery yellow. It looks white to me" -- but I didn't look in very many light situations (it was in a bright space with lots of outside light, but also indoor light setting. Sorry so unhelpful in terms of descriptor)
I think like you, I ended up gravitating toward late OEC and trannys. (trannies?)
What I did learn is that the videos and photos mean almost nothing -- you really do have to see and try them on in person. That was the biggest lesson I got. Have you gone to see a bunch in person?
anyways -- good luck on the continued search!!
