To fluor or not to fluor?

Everyone just a reminder that if you are selling an item on DB you aren't allowed to discuss/promote it outside of the preloved forum.

Thank you for everyone's cooperation. :))

+1 to doable on eBay!
Also, I'm terrified of ebay. Also, my boyfriend tells me I should stop looking because he's not ready to buy something. I just can't help myself. When a good thing comes along, I wanna be able to snatch it up!!

If he's not ready to buy then looking on ebay is an exercise in frustration. When he is ready, we'll help you find the right stone!

You're right, you're right. I guess I'm just trying to be proactive since I've heard some people spend months and months on the lookout for the right stone. Truthfully, he won't be able to buy a stone without my help. But I suppose I'll wait until he's ready. For now, I will try and chillax. :twirl:

uh oh. Seems I"m off topic now with posting my fluoro MRB, but what the hey!

Wow mama, what a delicate setting. Very pretty. The fluor looks beautiful!! Thanks for sharing. :))

That's a pretty diamond! Love the buttery colour. The prongs are really throwing me off though. I don't know why but OMCs haven't quite turned my crank. I'm sure I'd feel a LOT differently about this one in person - it's really quite sparkly and would probably look quite handsome in rose gold. I'd be a bit concerned bezeling an OMC just due to their wonkier shapes.

I fell in love with OECs once I saw that chunky confetti rainbow sparkle... when they pick up all the colours of their environment. Know what I'm talkin' about??

I should probably just hijack the engagement ring situation and buy this one. It's too beautiful ;( What's wrong with stretching the budget, right/?!!??!!?

Thanks lin_ny! I am a total jewelry newbie -- the rest of my jewelry stash has been given or bequeathed to me, so this was my first purchase -- as such, any compliment is much appreciated.

I forgot to add that it's actually a .75 carat and my finger is between a 3.75 and 4.

I have tried on the ring that Enerchi is talking about. I actually liked the setting, even though I'm not a YG girl, and the ring was very pretty and sweet. At the time I was being bombarded with new info, so I don't think I processed everything, but I remember thinking "hey this doesn't look at all a buttery yellow. It looks white to me" -- but I didn't look in very many light situations (it was in a bright space with lots of outside light, but also indoor light setting. Sorry so unhelpful in terms of descriptor)

I think like you, I ended up gravitating toward late OEC and trannys. (trannies?)

What I did learn is that the videos and photos mean almost nothing -- you really do have to see and try them on in person. That was the biggest lesson I got. Have you gone to see a bunch in person?

anyways -- good luck on the continued search!!

We haven't been able to see much in person. I know of one antique dealer and we saw her stuff - all she has is rings. She only had one in the size I'm looking for - it was a 1.04 OEC and it was either dirty or ugly, I couldn't really tell. Had no life, no sparkle. She told me she has the most antique rings out of everyone in the city.

We're gonna have to just go with a trusted vendor and bite the bullet when the time comes. I'm hoping to just eventually order something, probably from JbEG (unless we find a crazy deal on ebay in the meantime)... and fingers crossed it's the one! I can't really afford to buy and return a bunch of stones from the US because I can't insure the packages for what they're worth (I don't understand this... very frustrating). Thats risky shipping right there! :?

Hi lin_ny. Sorry for being AWOL for a few days there.

Just wanted to tell you that, although I ended up meeting with Grace, I was not initially planning on doing so. So, I chose 3 rings from her site (one was the mine cut, discussed above). And, based on what little she knew about me, she suggested one of the 3 rings. In the course of events, I ended up trying on all 3, and she was absolutely right. Although I ended up not buying a ring from her b/c of the blue nile setting I loved, of the 3 rings, I definitely loved the one she chose most of all.

In short -- you can definitely trust their eyes to choose the "best" or the "right" ring or stone for you!

best of luck! I'm so excited for you ~~ Congrats in advance! ^^

Hi there,

For me, I like fluorescence in the diamond because it makes diamond look just whiter.

But again you have to see if the diamond is in the higher color D E F, you might DON"T want it to be fluorescenced because it will make your beautiful stones become more milky.
