Thoughts on wax model for new project?

I have been working with David Klass on a new ring and just received photos of the wax mold. I'm very pleased with it so far, but I want the finishing touches to be perfect. I attached the inspiration photo that I used and photos of the wax mold.

Here are my thoughts:
1. I have asked him to increase the size of the diamonds on the shank just a hair to match the inspiration.
2. I have asked him to add some diamonds to the gallery and model it after another inspiration ring (see attached photo).
3. I am wondering if I should add some diamonds to the ledge (side view) of the head of the ring. I think it might spruce it up, but I don't want it to look cheesy!

I would love some extra sets of eyes on these and to hear what you all think about the items above (particularly # 3) or the wax in general. Do you think it will be similar to the inspiration? Thank you all!!

Really gorgeous ring in the making. I'm a fan of details. I think you are on the right track with no. 1 and 2. Regarding 3, I think it depends how they sit. But I think since you are adding details you mentioned in 2, 3 would work. :))

Really cool concept! I'm looking forward to seeing this one completed.

It's hard to tell from the photos but it looks like there is a slight flare towards the head on the shank of the inspiration ring (tapers away from the centre), but on the wax the shank appears straight. I would ask for the diamonds not just to be bigger in the sides, but to be in graduated sizes to accentuate the taper.

Everything else looks good to me, and I like your ideas on the details! Good luck.

This!!
Personally I think if the profile looks like the last pic that additional diamonds on the profile of the halo might be a bit much. Would you do milgrain under those diamonds and then have the floral bit underneath that? with that type of delineation it might be ok. hard to visualize though. i love the unique square top-down view -- so dramatic! can't wait to see revamped wax & finished product!

Thank you Sparklysoprano for your feedback!!

EvangelineG - Thank you for pointing that out. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I knew it looked different.

The current stone size is 2.5 mm on the shank. I asked him to increase it to 3 mm. Do you think this would be sufficient with a slight taper down from 3 mm? Or should the biggest one be larger than 3 mm?

I don't think there is enough room on the ledge section to have both diamonds and milgrain on the bottom. I know it juts out from the gallery a bit, so that might create a separation. I'm worried that it might be a bit too much as you said. On the other hand, I was worried that plain metal might be too boring, but it appears to be that way on the inspiration photo. Thanks so much for your feedback! I'm having a hard time visualizing it, so I'm dying to see it, too!

Just an update, David mentioned that to add diamonds on the ledge it would mean that the ledge would have to be thicker. I'm not sure how I feel about that, as I want to keep the ring delicate and not bulky.

BUMP...Any other thoughts??? They would be much appreciated!

Lovely ring!

As another poster said, your inspiration pic shows a graduated shank but the wax appears to be the same width throughout. Was that at your request? I really like the idea of a graduated shank.

As for #3, stones on the side of the plate (not sure what to call it), I don't think it needs it. You'll have stones on the gallery/side and, as DK pointed out, the ledge would have to be thicker and I'm not sure that's a good thing. Your piece is substantial but delicate looking, a thicker ledge might ruin that effect.

Here is the most recent CAD. I'm tempted to bring the largest stone up to 3.2 or 3.3 mm, but I don't want the ring to look bulky or not-dainty. Thoughts? Thank you all for your input!

ETA: Here is the inspiration for good measure.

It is going to be a lovely ring! I think given the size of the center diamond and the fact that you are not putting any diamonds on the ledge the diamonds on the shank could be bigger, 3.3ish and graduated from there. The carving scroll work and milgrain are going to be beautiful!
