The grading report looks good. Video and the images do also look good.

One thing I do note however is that there is no comment on the report advising that the AGS report number has been inscribed on the girdle.

While I assume that James Allen and the virtual inventory holder are not going to rip you off by substituting with a different stone, for what it is worth, I would prefer a James Allen True Hearts stone to have the AGS report number inscribed on the girdle.

Very nice cut!

Proportions all fall within the recommendations. However, that is not surprising as this is an AGS ideal 0 cut.

I am not sure your minimums you will consider as an equal alternative but this is very close and would be considered by most people. I prefer WF over JA because you get additional performance images, the customer service is top notch and they have a killer upgrade program (spend $1 more with NO other restrictions to get full credit on original purchase). With JA you have to spend 2x the original purchase amount.

Also this particular stone has proportions more inline with what I prefer (not better or worse than the JA stone, just what I've learned I like). And for a little less money. And slightly bigger.

ETA: as far as cut, it meets AGS ideal so you're good. Its not my preferred specs but still a nice stone.

if you're looking for as perfect as possible with color, clarity and cut and don't mind fluoro, how about this:

If fluoro is a deal breaker, i like these:

Agree about the proportions. Funny you mention this because I debated with myself earlier if I should say much about them.

All these JA options are really fantastic. Proportions look better than the original stone; however, it should be noted these are all GIA certified. I do like the fact the original was AGS certified; however, an idealscope image could easily cure this uneasy feeling.

What confuses me is the pricing "logic"....

1.07ct D VVS1, GIA, 35/40.6, 55 table, 61.9 depth, 75 LGF, faint fluor = $11,240
1.06ct D VVS1, GIA, 34.5/40.6, 55 table, 61.3 depth, 75 LGF, no fluor = $14,470

It makes no sense to have a $3k difference over faint & no fluor. We see those trade at the same dollars. Only other difference is the 1.07ct stone has some notes on the cert about surface graining not shown, but with VVS1 it should be a non-issue. I actually prefer the medium to slightly thick girdle on the 1.07ct vs the thin to slightly thick on the 1.06ct.

Now for the curve ball....

1.07ct D IF, GIA, True Hearts, 35/40.6, 56 table, 61.8 depth, 75 LGF, medium fluor = $13,400

Or maybe not such a mystery. The 1.06ct does not show to be available elsewhere; however, the other two stones can be had with other retailers for considerably less money. It'd be very tempting to jump on that 1.07ct D VVS1. =)2

1.07ct D VVS1 = $9,145 vs JA $11,240

@sledge i always worry if i should be so nit-picky about angles..... i just figure it can't hurt to mention stones with my preferred specs. I also wondered the same thing about pricing, i was really scratching my head over those! The 1.07 D os a real steal at fourmine. To the OP, James Allen will price match too if your attached to a setting there.

Yeah, I hate to be too nit picky but I am also the buyer that would appreciate that kind of feedback. The problem is not every buyer will like it. Also, if you have 3 different people with 3 different sets of preferences, it can get a bit confusing and might even turn into a battle amongst those helping.

While I love my fiancee's stone, the proportions are not something I would target again since I've learned considerably more about light performance and how all this works together. I'm still very happy with my choice and her stone is freakin' gorgeous. We frequently get comments from friends, family and lots of strangers. But when it comes time to upgrade her I will make some adjustments.

I’m very glad I found this forum!

Thank you everyone, for your comments. Looks like the stone I posted is no longer available anyway ... fate, haha.

I agree that 1.07 is a great deal ... thanks!!!
