So my wife has a .584 FVS1 AGS 000 that’s been in a pendant. I got this diamond in 1999, it was and still is a great stone, but as we all know ideal and super ideal diamonds were in their infancy back in the mid-90s. So, I am all happy with this AGS 000 until 2 years ago when my wife wedding ring diamond got chipped, I ended up here and then the world of super ideal diamond comes to my attention. Oh and AGS decided to change to cut spec. In the early 2000-2005? so this .584 diamond is no longer good, lol. That’s the history, here is what the plan is.
Purchase another .584 ideal diamond to make earrings for our 24th anniversary. I am getting her a 1-1.25ct White Flash ACA to replace her pendant for a 25th anniversary next year, don’t tell.
Now what are the odds of noticing a WF ACA on one ear and a lower cut ideal on the other. The diamond is well cut, I think the deal breaker is the pavilion angle of 41.2 degrees. The Pavilion depth is 43.5 crown angle is 34 degrees and crown height is 14.7%, table 56%. Total depth 61.1, 5.40x5.41 diameter, it’s a great diamond and back in 1999, it was all that was out there in ideal cuts other than LazarKaplan (sp), but my wife’s ACA is in another league, but it’s also a much larger diamond at 2.07ct.
I think we are going to find a lot of leakage due to the pavilion angle and depth. I mean, not really any other options, selling would be a bust and a hassle, plus she is attached to it and it’s not bad diamond.
Thoughts?
