Lizzy, phew, I'm glad your numbers finally came down and you can (hopefully) start moving on with a new cycle soon. Maybe this will kick-start your body into wanting to hang on to the next egg that implants! I know that's not really how it works, but your body really seemed to want to be pregnant. I think you said you are taking one month off, right? Hopefully, you can just relax and have a carefree month before worrying about all of this TTC business.

BB, I too am so sorry for what you are going through right now. Wish there was something I could think of to say to make you feel better and still hoping for a good surprise. Please let us know what you find out today. My thoughts are with you.

NEL, I have resorted to checking internally because I wasn't seeing anything otherwise. I have to admit it still makes me very squeamish, but it is getting easier, and it does seem to give me a clue as to what is going on. That is why I know I am having some spotting issues. Well, if 40 day cycles are your norm, then I guess that is good to know. Mine were always on the shortish side 25-26 days, and I think I am near that again.

Brown, I'm cheering you on! We need a BFP around here, so do what you can about that, ok?

BB, I am right here with you. Sorry this has become a mess for you. It is so hard to not get excited when you get a positive pregnancy test, but I have learned now that I have to try to curb that excitement for awhile to try to protect myself from let down. It really sucks and I envy the people who go thru TTC with no issues. But I know I am blessed in other areas of my life - I have a beautiful son, and a DH who supports and would do anything for me. Try to see the bright side during this mess. We are all here for you.

AFM, I just heard back from my RE and my level finally went down. Big sigh of relief. It went down to 93. So the RE did not want to do an u/s because she felt it was not needed now that my levels are finally dropping. She also felt it would not show anything anyways as my levels are so low. She said the bleeding could start anytime now. They also want me to repeat bloodwork on Monday to double check that levels are still dropping. But the good news is that they feel ectopic is out of the question now. What a roller coaster ride....Thank you ladies for being here for me.

Lizzy, I am so sorry about the crummy situation but I am glad that at least things appear to be moving in one direction. I know this time must have felt like an eternity. I am glad that you don't have to worry about eptopic anymore, that is scary!

My beta went up from 122 to 366 since Monday. The RE still doesn't know where the pregnancy is exactly. There are bascially 3 possibilities right now:
1. I O'd later than we thought. This is unlikely b/c I used the Clearblue digital OPK. If I did O later that we thought than my
numbers are "ok" for about 4 1/2 weeks. I can't spend too much time wanting this one to be true.
2. I had a pregnancy that didn't take and will miscarry soon.
3. I have an eptopic pregnancy. Then it looks like we watch my betas until it looks like I need a medical intervention to avoid
a ruptured tube. I hope that I don't have to deal with this at all b/c the drugs that I have to use would be in my system for up
to 3 months and we couldn't try to get pregnant again during that time.

I have another blood draw on Saturday to see what my levels look like. Wow, what a long process! I hate it

BB, did they do an ultrasound today? Those betas more than doubled since Monday, which to me would be a good thing. Did they check your progesterone level? I don't want to try to get your hopes up too high but my RE told me today that usually she can't see anything on u/s anyways until betas reach at least 1000. Maybe you implanted late? She also said that with ectopic, progesterone is usually low. So maybe it's just too early for anything to be showing up on u/s. Hang in there lady. Stay cautiously optimistic till you know more. The constant waiting for test results is terrible, so stay busy sister!

DD and Lizzy: They told me that they wouldn't see anything until the beta was in the thousands so they don't want to do another u/s until the levels get higher. If I implanted late then I may have a healthy pregnancy, but they doubt that that is the case. My progesterone was 10 on Monday and 11.9 today.

Lizzy: I feel like we are hanging out in the same boat right now! You hang in there too, I am thinking about you this week.

Lizzy: i'm glad you got some closure and a clearer picture. Hopefully now you can take the month off and look forward to a new approach when you are ready, whether that be clomid or something else. Enjoy your fun filled Friday!!

BB: what a rollercoaster - it's hard to not think positive though, those numbers went up and you could have O'd days later. A positive OPK(I'm guessing you took just one test) could mean next 12-48hrs. Those 2 days could make a difference. But it is hard, because it's not clear - I'm glad you're having an u/s on Saturday rather than have to wait through the wkend. I'm guessing Friday is too soon? As I've said before I"ve had friends whose numbers were not good and were told to expect a m/c, but things pulled through. You're not out yet - yes be aware it could be bad news, but so far there certainly is still hope!I actually had no idea that you had to be in the 1000's to see somethihng on the u/s, that's interesting. I'm not as familiar with progresterone #'s, but those seem pretty decent.

NEL: you need to start a TTC blog, your posts are getting funnier and funnier by the day! PS the cupcake would have totally worked on me.

BB, I agree that you are in the same boat as Lizzy (at least where she was a few days ago). I'm so eager for you to get some answers, I can't imagine the roller coaster of emotions you must be feeling. I also find it heartbreaking that you finally got your BFP and now it's become this ordeal that is still unclear. I'm hoping and praying that you don't have an ectopic. I really hope you get some answers on Saturday.

Lizzy, I hope that now things can finally start getting back to normal since your hgc levels are retreating. My heart really goes out to you, too.

Janine, it's funny you mention a blog--my sister suggested I do the same thing about a week ago, so I've been sending her a daily email with my funny TTC adventures. Today's email is about the quest to find my cervix, the elusive creature that lives in the depths of my nether-regions. I attempted to "hunt" for it last night, but either a.) I'm really bad at finding it or b.) it doesn't exist! Which could be a problem for me...

BB - I'm sorry you still don't have a definitive answer yet. I'm holding out hope on this one, but I can understand needing to know all the possibilities and not being overly optimistic. I have no idea about progesterone numbers, but your beta's are rising quickly so I'm very hopeful for you! I know the possiblilty of an eptopic must be scary, but try not to concentrate on that too much.

NEL - I agree with Janine and your sister about that blog! Your posts are amazing, and I can only imagine what the emails to your sister are like. As for the hunt for your cervix, it's not something I've attempted, but I remember Dreamer or one of the other cervix finding experts around here, saying that if you squat it will make it easier to find. I'm holding out hope that you have one, just try to stay positive.

MP - any new news?? I'm hoping your temp has stayed up!

LC - I'm hoping you get that elusive +OPK soon!

AFM - DH tried to resist my advances last night, but finally gave in. Thankfully no cupcakes were harmed as he tried to escape. He has told me he doesn't want to know when the peak time is because he doesn't want the pressure, but when our frequency goes from twice a week to 3 nights in a row I think he gets suspicious...

Brown_eyes, Oh yes, I definitely assumed the squatting position, but I didn't share the funniest part about my cervix hunt: when I became convinced that my reproductive system was missing this important part, I came running to DH. I could see the fear in his eyes from across the room as I approached him with my "bible" (read: TCOYF). He squeaked out "you aren't going to show me any illustrations are you?! Those pictures make me ill!" I assured him I only needed help understanding something and I think he felt some relief.

The relief was short-lived, however, when I asked him if he thought he could find my cervix by mimicking the detailed illustrations in the book and then started to take off my pants. He literally ran out of the room, though thankfully this time he was not holding a cupcake.

I'm glad you were able to get in that last BD session!! Now that you've successfully cornered your O-day, you can go back to your regular BDing schedule and the suspicion will wane I hope that all was successful and your egg is being accosted as we speak (er, type).

Oh BB, I feel so badly for the uncertainty and frustration you are experiencing. I hope you have people in your life that are supporting you and taking good care of you, and come and vent to us anytime you need to. Until we hear otherwise, I'm still thinking positive thoughts for you and hoping your dates were just wrong.

NEL, you will get the hang of it! Seriously, it took me SEVERAL attempts before I figured it out. I got all sweaty and light-headed and nearly passed out a couple of times because I get very squeamish about medical things and sticking fingers in body parts where they don't belong It has happened at the gyno before too. Once you know what you are looking for, it is pretty easy to do. I find it easiest to sit on the, um, toilet, and move my finger along the um, wall, until I hit something different. I will say that I have long skinny fingers, and I think it would be a lot harder if my fingers were shorter. Perhaps that's your problem?

Brown, sounds like you got the trifecta! Perfect! I too tried to avoid telling my husband when I had gotten the positive OPK, but it SO didn't work. I'm not normally the "aggressor" and my attempts to seduce him away from the tv were not very smooth, so he definitely knew something was up.

No good news from me unfortunately. My temp went back to the coverline, so AF is definitely on her way to spend Easter with me. I'm disappointed, but I realize that my worries are nothing compared to some of the ladies who have been trying for months and months and who have experienced losses. I'm getting kind of geeky about this whole charting thing, so I'm sort of excited to chart another month and see if everything stays consistent. But my ovaries better step it up next month!

NEL, cervix hunting: there's a illustration in TCOYF that helps you understand the position to be in for easiest finding. I dunno how to measure cervix height though. Basically I do a "Yup, still there" kinda check, so now I use the same test to check for CM. It gets interesting trying to check not in the privacy of my own bathroom (e.g. at work). I don't suggest it.

Brown, you and your DH are hilarious. Glad no cupcakes were harmed.

Monkey, glad you're finding charting "fun." Bummer about AF, but the new cycle is definitely a great chance to do some more charting.

I was on HBC for years and years and years. But before I was I remember being on relatively normal cycles, 28-29 days.

Last night I got some action too! Woo hoo! Still a zero for the OPK, but my temp spiked. I'm hoping the elevated temp will stick. Question for the ladies who use OPKs and/or CBE OPKs. When do you test? I test with my first morning pee. Should I be testing at another time? And typically how long with an LH surge last? I test every morning and get zilch.

Finally just wanted to add, you ladies are doing a great job seducing your DHs during optimal times. Go you! Maybe I'll get some special TTC lingerie. I doubt my DH will start to notice I bust them out only around O dates.

MP - bummer about the dip today. I still say it's not over till it's over! I think it's cute that you're geeking out about charting though.

LC - It's very possible that you missed it this month. I use my first morning pee, but I've heard that this is actually not the best to use. My problem is that I drink way too much water during the day for there to be another time for it to be concentrated enough to get a reading. If you tested every 12 hours as NEL suggested, that should work though. The good thing is that you've been marathoning for your expected window, so hopefully you caught an egg and won't have to worry about it any more! I know, I'm always optimistic...

NEL - That is too funny! If I did that to my DH, I'm not sure he would come back until he knew I was sleeping!

Maybe I'll pick up some more CBE OPKs at the pharmacy today during lunch and test again. I also drink a ton of water so maybe I'll ration myself for a while so I can test. Man I'm going to chew through OPKs like candy! Too bad it's not REAL candy...

To reassure you again it is only considered spotting if it makes it outside your body, onto the panties. If you only see brown CM internally, then it does not count as spotting!

LC, here's what I've been doing for OPKs, and it seems to work pretty well. I bought a bunch of internet cheapo Wondfo OPKs on Amazon. I used these with FMU starting the week after AF. For me, in the few days leading up to a positive, they start to get darker. Once the cheap ones start getting darker, I switch to the CBE digital and use it twice a day. The second test of the day is tough because I drink water ALL day and go to the bathroom about once an hour. But for those couple of days, I stopped drinking after about 1 or 2 and held it until the end of the day. Not easy, but worth it. Both months, I have gotten my first positive in the afternoon. However, I also got a positive the following morning each time. Also, when you said in your post that your temp spiked, was it just a random spike and they are back down? If your temp already spiked and is staying high, then you already ovulated. Maybe I'm just reading your posts wrong....

Dreamer, ha ha. Thanks, for keeping me in check. So, I guess it is not technically spotting, but I still wish I wasn't seeing anything brown before AF!

Monkey, yes it was a one day spike, I had a slight fever/sore throat going on. It went back down for a few days. Today my temp went up again so maybe acutally O'ing or could be the same cold. I'm coughing and blowing my nose a lot.

Holy Crappers! You ladies have been busy typing this morning....

LC, with regards to the OPK's. I use a similar technique as NEL. I test once a day as soon as my period ends. Then as I approach the time that I normally O, I start testing twice a day. But with your long cycles, I wouldn't start right after your period ends. Once you get a feel for when you normally O, I would then do the twice a day thing, but till then I would just do it daily. Because otherwise you are going to be going thru serious amounts of OPK's. Have you tried ordering them from somewhere else so you can get them cheaper? I tend to have long LH surges. I test with first morning pee, because that is what mine recommend me to do. And I have been known to get a positive surge for two to three days in a row.

Monkey, still holding out hope for you. You just never know. At least you are having fun with the charting. It makes it a little bit easier that way!

NEL, you and LC are too funny with all the BD'ing. My DH always tells me that even though it is tiring to BD for like a week straight, he knows he's got to take advantage of it while he can!!! ha ha! Because of all of my early losses, we usually take a hiatus from BD'ing till after the first trimester as I just get worried about BD'ing and causing any spotting or anything you know? So he's always ready and willing for a roll in the sac!!! NEL, I am so excited for you now that you are TTC! I am glad that backup condom is gone now too!!! LOL!!

BB, I'm still holding out for you! Sometimes, all of these medical tests can make us nuts. I sometimes think to myself that if I wasn't going in for all of these blood works so early, I would just be ignorant to what my levels are and would not be worrying myself. But at the same time, the outcome would not change, and I like the heads up it gives me that something may be wrong. When I was pregnant with my DS, they also originally told me that my level was low (which caused me huge anxiety), but the # kept on steadily doubling and everything was just fine. A huge percentage of women don't even get betas drawn and a part of me wonders what theirs would be if they did have them drawn. Makes you wonder what really is normal you know? Crossing my fingers for good news for you on Saturday. And if it's not, I hope they can at least rule out ectopic so you guys can try again real soon.

AFM, I woke up this morning around 5am with bad cramping. So bad that I went and took an Advil. I had a feeling things were going to start soon. And sure enough the bleeding started after lunch. I am glad it has started so we can get things moving along here. They don't want me to use tampons though so unfortunately I will not be taking my DS swimming tomorrow. But we will do something fun instead, the weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow. When I spoke with the RE yesterday, they felt that since my #'s were so low, it would be no problem for me to try again this month, without waiting the month. She said she wanted to make sure my beta's zeroed out first, but she said that it was no problem to try again. My DH and I have decided to try for another 1 or 2 more cycles without Clomid. If Clomid were a drug that helped a pregnancy "Stick" or helped my lining or something, I would not hesitate to use it. But basically it is just causing me to release more eggs. I understand that by doing that, my chances go up that one of them will "stick", but I think that I will have too much anxiety worrying about multiples. So we are going to try a couple more months without it, only using the progesterone suppositories and see how it goes. We did have my DS this way, so I am hopeful it will happen again for us. I try to remind myself that I am not on a timeline, but as you all who are actively TTC know, once you get started, you just want to be pregnant already! But really and truly there is no rush. As my mom reminds me...you can't rush perfection!

Lizzy, well, I'm sorry about the miscarriage. Even though you knew it was coming, I'm sure it is still hard when it actually happens. But at the same time, I'm glad you finally have resolution. Your plan to try again for a couple months before trying clomid sounds wise if are going to be stressed and worried about multiples. Hopefully, it will just happen on its own. Otherwise, I think you'll know if and when it is time to try clomid. I'm glad you don't have to wait a cycle before trying again. I hope your numbers go down fast!

LC, ok, I get it now. You're probably right about the temp going up from being sick. Well, keep doing your bd thing, and you are bound to catch the right day.

I guess it's my own fault for talking about treatment in the first place. I know I didn't say anything b/c I just don't feel like sharing with someone who gets pregnant at the drop of a hat. Saturday seems like a long way off and even then I may not have any real answers.

I am glad that my parents are coming into town tomorrow, that should make for a good distraction. We are going to my counsin's wedding and I swear, if anyone says anything about DH and I not having children my next post will likely be written from jail !

LC, what does your temp look like today? Also, I meant to tell you that if you do the OPKs 2 times per day, you can probably just do it in the morning and when you get home from work (I used to do 7am and 7pm) so that you can avoid work. I guess if you're working long hours, it could be an issue. It's a good excuse to try to get out of long days

MP, Sorry about the temp drop again. I guess you were right about the progesterone's last hurrah. It's great to hear that you're excited about charting, though. I always find that kind of information interesting, so I completely understand.

BB, I hope your next post isn't from jail Kidding, I hope you do enjoy your parents' visit this weekend and have a great time at your cousin's wedding. HH, This is the first month that D and I are "trying"...though "trying" is really just me chasing after my husband and hoping I ovulate this month.

AFM, I found my cervix. This was very exciting for me, you'd think I'd found diamonds down there or something. My temps are driving me crazy, though. My temps tend to stay in the mid 97s, but once a week it wil pop back up to 98. So far my chart looks very anovulatory, but I really have nothing to compare it to, so I'm going to keep truckin'. I'm hoping to get in some BDing this weekend, but as far as I can tell, I won't be Oing anytime soon.

NEL, eureka! I'll bet your husband is glad you found it on your own too Your temps don't necessarily mean anything if you're just having a few random days with disturbances, but mainly temps in the 97s. My cycles are much shorter than yours, but I will say that the temps really didn't stablize until the 5 or so days leading up to O. Sorry, I bet that is really frustrating for you, but it is going to happen soon! I can feel it!

BB, ugh, people can be so insensitive without even realizing it. I am sure most of them are well-meaning and don't know any better (even though they should). Enjoy your time with your parents, and I hope tomorrow gives you some peace.

CD1 here. Not much more to say about that. On the bright side, I won't be having a Christmas baby, and I'll be able to drink freely and eat a bunch of Easter candy this weekend without worrying. We're heading north this afternoon to visit my family for the weekend. I haven't seen my little nieces and nephews since Thanksgiving, so that will be fun.

Monkey, sorry to hear about AF arriving. Have fun this weekend! It will be nice to see family and have a glass of wine or two or three! Hey we might be on the same cycle next go around.

NEL, glad you find your cervix! Woo Hoo! I don't temp so I am no help there unfortunately. Have fun BD'ing though! You never know when O will swing on by!!!

BB, I also have a friend who got pregnant on her second month trying. She is so supportive of me during this crazy TTC time, but there are some things that I don't discuss with her even though I love her dearly. She doesn't understand beta's, OPK's, progesterone suppositiories, etc etc. She just did it the old fashion way and got pregnant, so she doesn't have an understanding of all of this and that's ok, but I choose to talk to another friend of mine who has gone thru similar challenges as me. She ended up getting pregnant after trying for three years via IVF. She is a great friend and confidant. I do recommend that you find at least one person "in real life" that you can talk to. It is quite therapeutic for me to talk to my friend who just plain "gets it". I am sending you lots of lucky sticky dust for tomorrow. Enjoy your time with your parents and try to stay positive.

AFM, this is TMI ladies...so if you are squeamish do not bother reading further. Yesterday the bleeding was pretty light and more brown than red. I was thinking that maybe this one wouldn't be as bad as it was last time around. However, today it got really bad. Sorry if this is TMI ladies.... My DH works from home and after lunch I went to the bathroom and it was so bad - bright red and clots. I wish I could use a tampon because it is just plain everywhere. I asked my DH to watch my DS so I could take a quick shower. I was crying in the shower. I'm just standing there bleeding and seeing things come out of me that a person should not see. I just couldn't help but keep thinking that my baby is washing away. It makes me so sad. Then I got out of the shower and started dry heaving over the toilet. It all just came over me and I suddenly got overwhelmed and slightly grossed out from everything. I wonder if it is worse this time because I was a little further along then last go round. Eh. Ladies, I hope none of you have to go thru this....

Oh Lizzy, I can't tell you how sorry I am. I've heard it can be very heavy and I was hoping that the heaviest was behind you. It sounds like you're in the thick of it now. When you talked about how sad you were in the shower I admit I cried. I can't imagine how that must have felt for you--I have no doubt the dry heaving was due to being overwhelmed and feeling helpless about this happening to you. I want so badly for you to be able to get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy! I don't want a BFP to be a source of fear for you--I'm encouraged that you have a plan (the clomid after a couple of cycles if you're continuing to have issues with the early miscarriages), but I'm just hoping, praying and wishing that you never have to go through this again. My heart really goes out to you.
