The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I'm definitely with Dreamer and Ally that this RE has terrible bedside manner--like Dreamer said, if there is a medical reason that she would need to differentiate between miscarriage and chemical pregnancy in your chart, then fine. But why does she need to correct you when she knows you are already upset when she can simply just write down the term she sees fit. It's just unecessary and overly critical, IMO. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that she is more helpful tomorrow--I'm very glad you're armed with your questions!

MP, I'm so excited that you're in the 2WW and am encouraged by your timing! I actually find the 2WW less stressful than waiting to O. You know you've done what you can and now you can just sit back and hope for the best!

Brown, you're in the very final stretch of waiting now! I'll be checking in regularly for any possible updates from you! :)

Ally, it does sound like you were gearing up to O, then it was delayed (being sick likely did not help). How are you feeling now? On the mend? The good news for you is that the OPKs are getting darker again--hopefully you will O without delay this time!

LC, how are you doing? I think in your last update you mentione watery CM...do you know if it was followed by O? If so, this will be your shortest cycle to date...I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

AFM, CD18 with no sign of O on the horizon. I'm charting and using OPKs. My temps are steady and low, my OPK test lines are very faint and not getting darker. For the past three cycles I've Oed around CD25/26, which would have me Oing next week. I'm going to start using my OPKs 2x per day starting tomorrow...hopefully in a week I'll be Oing and the 2WW will begin.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

OK ladies, I've got an update for you...

BFP!!! (well actually 6 to be exact, including a digi for good measure)

We still can't believe it!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congratulations Brown eyes!!!! You are too funny - 6 tests! :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats Brown Eyes!! Sending continued good vibes your way!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

That's fantastic news Brown! So happy for you!!! Lots of dust for a healthy pregnancy!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Great news Brown eyes!

By the way, you must follow official TTC thread etiquette and post a photo of your positive test, and regale us with tales of your symptoms and how you felt when you found out, and also anything you might have done differently, of just what you did this month that might help the other ladies!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Brown_eyes! I'm so excited for you!!! Woohoo and congrats!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Brown: :appl: :appl: :appl: What great news! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

BROWN!!! BFP is STELLAR!!!! I'm so happy for you and second Dreamer's req of a photo and symptoms!!! :appl: :appl: Sticky happy dust to you!!!

Lizzy, hoping you get some answers today. Don't let that RE push you around. Remember how strong you are, and that this is something to important to just brush under the rug. I'll be thinking about you.

Ally, How are you feeling? Hope you bumped the cold finally.

Monkey, I hope the 2WW flies by for you. You guys definitely "took no prisoners" this cycle, Keeping my fingers crossed!

SBA, pancake, :wavey: haven't heard from you ladies. Hope you guys are doing well.

Katy, how's your mom's visit? Doing any projects? I think you said you had some in the plans.

Not much going on here. Acupuncture on Friday went without a hitch. I had a new person, and he actually asked me a lot more about my cycles, symptoms etc. He used like 11 needles, I can't remember exactly. I think he's the actual owner of the practice, so I might try to get him from now on. I also wanted to do so more stuff for my sciatica. It helped for the next day, but Sunday was HORRIBLE and Monday was pretty bad too. Today's OK so far. I need to make a point to get up an walk around. Maybe even do some yoga.

Finished the painting!!! I LOVE the color. It's a mix between an earthy teal & Tiffany blue color. I'll take some pics when I get home today, after moving the furniture back to where it belongs. After we retouch the celing paint from Oops's. DH likes to do the tape and paint method. I prefer to just cut in without taping. Honestly, I think my cutting comes out cleaner, but we did the taping none-the-less... Anyway, we have 1 wall remaining, but we need to replace dry wall from water damage before that can get done. Other than that things in the officery looks good. I want to do the perimeter shelves then we'll be SET! Maybe an Ikea trip this weekend is in order. :))

TTC-wise, not much going on here. My temps are pretty much all across the board, but that's standard for me early on in my cycle. I don't expect to get an O until mid-June, but I'm going to start OPKing when I get my Wondofos (ordered last week). I order a 50 pack, so I should be able to keep an running collection if they're getting darker or not until my O day. I need to tell myself to not get discouraged when it doesn't come up positive. I think having a fade-in like the Wondofos will be better than a straight up ZERO from the CBEs. I still have CBEs to use if/when the cheapies get darker. I don't think I ever get WATERY CM, but I get a lot of lotion-y CM, and feel wet, but I think it's just more lotion CM. Still trying to get a handle on the CM so that's my goal for this month. That and acupuncture.

Catch you ladies later!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ok ladies, just time for a quick post...so I went for my bloodwork very early this morning and waited ALL DAY for the doctor to call me. Finally, at 4:15 I call the office and leave a message. The nurse calls me back at 4:30 and tells me my levels dropped down to 22. So I then asked her when I will be talking to the doctor and she was completely clueless. She said "well, there's no doctor here now" So I told her that last week, I was told that my Dr. was going to be calling me today with my blood work results and to discuss my plan go forward. She said that the earliest the Dr. can get back to me is Thursday, but most likely Friday. I am SO ANNOYED. I told the nurse that I worked hard the past couple of days on compiling a list of questions and now to not get answers is very frustrating and now I am feeling very anxious. She apologized, but there is nothing she can do. So I have to wait till Friday to talk to the RE. I am so over this office. To wait all day and not even get the Dr. makes me so upset.

I did get in touch with my OB office and he wants me to come in and see him on Friday morning for an appt to discuss. I am looking forward to touching base with him and get his opinion on all of this.

I would be finding a new RE ASAP. This one is both apparently useless and unapproachable. If you had to get your car fixed and took it to a mechanic who 1) didn't run any tests, 2) didn't fix anything, and 3) was rude about it, you'd never go back. And that's justa dumb car.

Great way to look at it AMC! My DH wants me to just get a new one. I am willing to hear them out on Friday. Their tune better have changed. If not, I am outtie!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy, I am SO mad for you! You have VASTLY more patience than I do. This is totally inexcusable! I'd be D.O.N.E. with them!!! If it were me, I'd also mention to your OB that you're unsatisfied going to this RE. Don't need to press the point, but mostly it's the OB that's giving you the name. And it seems like he's got a good relationship with you. If I were to refer friend/customer/family member to an AWFUL service, I'd want to know so I stop referring people to something that's the pits.

Hugs my friend. This is a trying time for you. But you have lots of support with you.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Brown!!!! Congratulations!!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: That is so awesome!!! I had a feeling about May ladies... hopefully it continues into June!!

MP, you are so close! I am so hoping you will hop on the BFP train too!!

Lizzy - You are a woman of super patience, because there is no way I would ever go back to that RE. What a crock of... well, you know. Best of luck finding a new RE if that's what you decide. I cannot believe all the things you've told us about the one you're using! ARGH!

LC - Yep, in the middle of home renovation hell! Removed and patched a laundry chute, cut a bunch of trim, painted the whole living/dining/hallway area and replaced 5 doors! Would have been 7, but we had to special order the two little ones (pantry and bathroom closet). It's a whole new house!!

Ladies, I feel awful that I haven't been participating. NEL, ally, sba, amc... I'm thinking of you all! Can't wait to get back into the loop over the next few days. At least the house project has kept my mind off of things!! I'm not sure if I will have an normal-ish cycle this month, but I'll be starting OPKs tomorrow or the next day, I think. I'm at CD10. :))

Love to everyone!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy - I've been lurking (have also had 2 of 3 pregnancies over 4.5 years fail, one chemical, once miscarriage at 8.5 weeks, and went for IVF to have my baby girl). So sorry to read about you having another loss. I had a recurrent miscarriage round of testing done after #2. I'm starting to get a little fuzzy on all the stuff they did, but I seem to remember that one thing that can lead to chemicals is DNA fragmentation in the sperm. That somehow you conceive and things implant, but then fail a few days later when the paternal DNA kicks in in the development process. If your DH hasn't been tested for that, it might be something to look into. Otherwise I think they did chromosomal analysis on both of us (that won't have changed since the last testing you had done, obviously), and tested me for clotting disorders. DH had the semen analysis and DNA fragmentation tests. I don't think they looked much into autoimmune stuff for me, but that can be another factor. I hope you get some answers soon, and sorry that your RE really sucks!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy, sba, monkey, dreamer, NE, ally, LC, and Katy - thank you all for the well wishes. We are beyond excited!

Lizzy - I understand you wanting to give your RE one more chance on Friday. You have invested time with this doctor and would have to start fresh with a new one. That being said, if you are not completely satisfied after your conversation on Friday, please don't hesitate to find a new RE. Whichever way you decide to go, I hope you find peace in some answers or at least the fact that you are doing all that you can.

To fulfill at least a part of Dreamers request, my only real symptoms could easily be because of travel and altitude. I have been more tired, and had a few headaches over the weekend. BB's are a little bigger, but that would be normal if AF were pending. My first positive test was on 11DPO. The test lines are definitely getting darker, which eases some of my fears. I don't have my 11DPO tests, but I did save from 12DPO on, so I will post those Friday along with a pretty pic of the digi saying "pregnant" ;))

DH and I are beyond thrilled. I was surprisingly calm when I saw the BFP (I don't think it really had set in). I woke up the hubby with the news and then neither of us could stop smiling. He has been super protective ever since, and also paranoid that his mom somehow knows (we are vacationing with his parents at the moment). It's very cute.

As for any change in strategy, we didn't really change anything up. We BD'd every day between O-3 and O+1 execpt for O-1, so we did get some good coverage in the fertile window, but we had good timing the last 2 months as well. I think the key is to remember that even if you do everything right and sperm meets egg, only 1 out of 5 of those meetings will lead to a BFP. I also temp'd this month which eased some of my fears about whether or not I was actually O'ing and I felt more relaxed the whole cycle.

I called my doctor and scheduled my first appointment, but it isn't until June 16th. I will call for more info as it gets closer, but I will be 6 weeks by then and I'm guessing she may do an ultrasound (OMG this is soooo exciting!)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy, I can imagine that when the receptionist told you your results and said that not only was your doctor not in, but that she wouldn't be able to talk with you about it until FRIDAY, you probably wanted to reach through the phone and slap somebody! I would just go ahead and make an appt. with somebody new today...at the very least, you'll have comfort knowing there is a backup appt. on your calendar and won't feel like you're back at square one on Friday.

LC, the earthy teal you described sounds amazing!! I'm going to pester you to post pics :) I'm glad to hear that your accupuncture appointments are going well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a shorter cycle this time around. I'm sort of in waiting-to-O no man's land right now. Just biding my time until signs of O start appearing...it sounds like you're in a similar spot!

Brown, how are you feeling? I'm with Dreamer--you have to tell us any symptoms you may have had, plus a pic of the test! ETA: I saw you posted while I was writing this! I'm going to read it now--I'm so excited for you!

MP, I'm hoping the 2WW is going by quickly!

Katy, it's great to see you here! When do you usually O? I like being at the point in my cycle when I can start to pee on something...at the very least it gives me something to monitor!

Ally, any signs of O after the last fake-out?

AFM, CD20 and no real signs of O. I'm OPKing (I just made that a verb) 2x per day now. I'm using Wondfos this month (I get the 50 pack like LC...when you have long cycles you go through a lot of OPKs!) so I can monitor any fade in. I thought the test line may have been slightly darker than usual this morning, but it could be a fluke. I guess I'll find out tonight if it's darker again. My temps are still in the 97s, which is expected.

We've been BDing every few days this cycle, but stopped this week because I wanted to try to sway this month. I'm sort of on the fence about it now (big surprise). D thinks it's silly, which makes me less resolved to stick with it.I just want to be pregnant, so I hate to miss a window of opportunity because of some experiment I want to try...I think I'll just play it by ear.

Hehe, you absolutely called it. I wasn't planning to use OPKs for a few months, either, and that lasted a month. The issue is that I'm a planner...while on the fence about TTC I came up with all these ideas about how I wanted to go about it. Now that I'm ready to be pregnant, all of my plans are going out the window and I just want it to happen already!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

:wavey: Hi Ladies!

Still trying to fight this cold. This rainy weather in CA is not helping. I am ready for some sunshine and summer weather!

LC: Your officery color sounds so pretty! That's great that you got the owner for the acupuncture session. Hope his sessions will help shorten your cycles. I think the wondfos are great because they are so cheap but on the other hand, it's starting to make me become a POAS lunatic :nono: I was testing once a day and then when it started getting darker 2-3x a day, even using a digital yesterday (no smiley, of course). Ally needs to step away from the Wondfos. Sounds like you're on your way to getting some fertile cm soon, having creamy cm is a start!

Lizzy: I am soooo frustrated for you. I really hope your RE does a 180 and will offer some plan in moving forward at your appointment. If not, hope your OB can be of some assistance. Stay strong! And hope you enjoyed that chocolate shake. Yum!

Dreamer: I love blizzards! I wish there was a DQ nearby. But then again, that wouldn't be good for the "need to lose my pregnancy weight" plan.

Katy: Hope your mom had a nice visit! You definitely sound busy with the home renovation. You've accomplished so much already! Hope this cycle returns to normal for you!

Brown: Looking forward to the pics! Agree with Dreamer, my doctor didn't see me until 8 weeks, but we did get an ultrasound. My initial testing was a blood test to confirm at 5 weeks. June 16th will be here before you know it! I'm so excited for you!

NEL: I have all the fertile signs, EW, high soft open cervix (couldn't even find it ) but no positive Opk. It's been getting darker and compared to my last cycle, should be positive by now or within the next few days. Temps are still low. So I'm just waiting. Still have this lingering cold. Anyways, I was going to try to sway boy this cycle too but I'm afraid to miss my window, and just want to get pregnant. Boy or girl, doesn't really matter. I just wanted to give DH a son. If this cycle is like last cycle, you should be O'ing soon! Are you just using the Wondfos or confirming them with the digital smileys?

Pancake and SBA, hope you ladies are doing well!

AFM: CD19 and getting darker OPKs but no positives yet. I'll try to upload a pic from my computer. Can't figure out how to do it, or even know if you can from the ipad.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

This is what it looks like when it's dry. When wet, the test is almost as dark as the control line, which makes me think I'll get a positive tonight or tomorrow. During my last cycle, I got a negative during the day, a positive at 9pm that day, then a positive on C27 (O day) and then another positive the next day (CD 28) and then finally a negative on CD 29. Based on last cycle, I O'd within 24 hours of a + test.

NE, how is the weather where you are? We are getting slammed with tornadoes here in Western Massachusetts. Power has been out for awhile, but is back now. National Guard is coming in.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi ladies

I'm new to this forum, i'm wondering if you can all give me some advice!

I'm 26, currently on the BCP, have been for about 7 years.

My husband and I are going to start TTC in October, and I've heard conflicting advice as to when you should go off the to INCREASE fertility.

Is it better to stay on the pill right until you want to start TTC? or is it better to go off the pill and let your body return to normal??

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Ruby- usually it is suggested that you stop BC at least two months prior to wanting ttc so your body can readjust. I don't want to freak you out or anything, but I wish I had stopped much earlier than that. I am 25 and was on BC for 7ish years and regular before that. I assumed I would bounce back. It has not happened and it has been 6+ months. I have a doctor's appointment in 2 weeks and I probably have to start provera and clomid, so with hindsight I would have stopped BC at least 6 months prior and just used other BC methods.

:appl: NEL - I'm a planner too but pregnancy/children just can't be perfectly planned - its a life lesson for a planner that's for sure. Sometimes nature throws you curve balls for fun too (just when you've done everything you're supposed to the opposite happens). It's fun though! I'll be following your journey closely!
PS Girls are alot of fun btw - especially when they're your own, hehehe.

Congrats Browneyes!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally, it's really interesting that you posted that pic because that is almost identical to how my Wonfo looked this morning (also dry). The test line was not quite as dark as the control line, but it wasn't faint, either (like it has been for the past week). I wasn't expecting to O until Monday at the earliest, so I was surprised to see it so dark today. I've never used Wondfos before (I was using a different brand before), so I wonder if they are just more prone to a darker test line earlier? I don't know, but with all the what-seemed-like +es you had earlier this month and now this dark line with no + on your digi, I'm starting to wonder about these Wondfos! Then again, yours seemed just fine last month...

I'm going to go to Target tonight to get some digital OPKs to back up my Wonfos. I'm glad we're both temping this month as well, it will be interesting to see when we Oed compared to these Wonfos...my temps are still low as well, so I'm just hoping I O in the next few days.

In any case, happy BDing to you! We haven't BDed since Sunday (for swaying purposes), but I'm tired of holding out and think we'll start trying tonight. The dark test line on my Wondfo is making me nervous I might be missing my window...I know you're thinking the same thing :)

Lizzy, I was thinking about you when I heard about West Springfield last night! I knew you were in Western Mass, but wasn't sure where. In any case, I'm so glad you only had a power outage. The storms were pretty intense--it reminded my childhood in the midwest where the thunderstorms are impressive. We also lost power from about 9:30pm to midnight. We had a friend over watching Game 7 of the Bruins and I'd just gotten dinner out of the oven when we lost power. We all had a nice candelight dinner, haha.

Ruby Shoes, your question is a good one! I'd always heard that women were most fertile right after coming off the pill, but since I'm the kind of person who likes to plan and monitor my symptoms, I knew the "go off of BC and wing it" approach wasn't for me. That being said, I DO think the first couple of cycles after coming off the pill were my more fertile cycles. The first cycle off of I had EWCM (haven't had any since) and my first 3 cycles were textbook...28/29 days and I would O right around CD16. I've been off of BC for almost a year now and my cycles have become longer with a couple of fake-out Os. Sometimes I wonder if I would have had more success if I'd just thrown my BC out the window and started trying immediately, but I've also enjoyed learning the science (or maybe lack thereof) behind my cycles. Then again, using condoms for months is no fun. Anyway, I think it really just depends on your comfort level!

AFM, CD21 with darkening Wondfos. My temp was above 98 this morning, so I feel like O could be at any time. As I said to Ally, I'm going to get some digi OPKs tonight. I wasn't expecting O until next Monday, so who knows. I was hoping to get a BDing session in last night, but with the loss of electricity and me staying up late, I was too tired to try...tonight it will start :naughty:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy: Glad to hear that you're okay. Hope the power outage is the worst of it.

Ruby: I've never been on BCP but I've heard and read that it takes a couple of cycle to get back to "normal". NEL and SBA have given you some good thoughts. Hope the other ladies will chime in.

NEL: Candlelight dinner, how romantic! Hehe. Sounds like you are getting ready to O soon! :appl: I hope you get that positive! For the Wondfos, you will KNOW when it is a positive. It's when you have no doubt. I'll attach a pic of a positive from my last cycle. Time to get busy :naughty:

Monkey: How are you feeling? Keeping my fingers cross that you're going to be next on the BFP train!

AFM: DD decided she wanted to get up at 4:45 this morning (usually up at 7am). I went to her nursery to get her and as I was rocking her in the glider, I thought "Oh no, I didn't temp." Haha. I got into bed afterwards and temped ... it was 97.18 ... my lowest temp this cycle, which usually happens right before I O. I got mad at DH last night and went to bed mad so we didn't BD. Still no positive OPK. Wonder what today will bring? Oh, I should add, I've been drinking a lot more green tea this cycle and maybe why I'm getting so much EWCM. I take my prenatal at night so that the green tea doesn't interfere with the absorption of the folic acid.

NEL: this is my positive OPK from last cycle. You'll know it's positive when the test line comes up right away and is way darker than the control:

positive OPK.04292011.JPG

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Janine, I completely agree about planning what can't be planned. I think the fact that I have so little control over this as it is makes me want to do everything I can to increase my chances without worrying about swaying. Besides, a girl would be just fine! I'll just make sure she's a tomboy and not a princess, haha :)

Ally, thanks so much for posting that photo, there is no question about that being a positive. This is actually helpful since this mornings test through me for a loop.

Quick funny story: I noticed creamy CM earlier today and any CM at all for me is rare, so I do think I'm ramping up to O. I had a lunch meeting at my client's office, which is the same company D works for. So I called him after the meeting and told him that he needed to find time to fit me in for a quickie at lunch since I was in his building, anyway. I could tell a colleague was in his office because he started stammering "Um, hon, I'm going to need to call you back". Heh.
