CD 15 here.

My thoughts that O was approaching were also incorrect.

I have been having fertile CM, so the BD train is on the tracks and hopefully we''ll have an O by CD26. That was last cycle''s O day

If I could have it just a couple days sooner, I would be able to test before a trip I''m taking with my mom''s side of the family at the end of the month and first part of November. I really want to be able to tell Paul first, in person, if we are preggo, but it would be heartbreaking to be preggo and then not be able to tell my mom in person (who I only see about 4 times a year due to distance) because I''ve not told Paul yet.

Oh well. It will be what it will be.

I could always wait til Christmas. Maybe.

EBree, glad you made the appointment! Good luck!

Amber, I''m so sorry you are having a rough time. I''m right there with you with a husband with a low libido. I''m now wondering if we should have mine tested for low testosterone. It hasn''t been that big of a deal for us yet since he''s been away the past two months so we''ve only been trying when we can on weekends, but I was really hoping for a marathon next month, but dh doesn''t like the pressure of having to do it when I think I''m ovulating.

Lysser, good luck with the budgeting. Hopefully watching what you spend will be a big help. I know I can easily drop big bucks at stores like Target too without even realizing it!

Festy, what brand is your bbt thermometer? I haven''t tried Rite Aid yet (you know, just CVS, Walgreens, Target, grocery store, Walmart, etc...) so maybe I will try there to finally find one.

Peony and Robbie, I think this must be the month of weird cycles. Mine is weird too (see below).

Fisher, I''m sorry that this cycle looks like it''s going to be a long one for you too.

I''m on cycle day 22, and NO SIGN of ovulation yet. I guess I''m either going to have a really long cycle, or an anovulatory cycle this month. My temps have been going down again, and I haven''t seen any EW yet. I''m bummed about a long cycle, but at the same time, a little excited that I still have a chance to catch the egg since DH will be around Friday-Monday this weekend!

Sha - my DH is 35. He is currently going to a counselor for his stress and anxiety and it seems to be working somewhat. But he still has very little interest in sex. He''s like your hubby, once a week is more than enough
20.gif
So yeah, we''re working on it, but I know it''s going to be a slow process. This month though, i basically forced myself on him during the crucial time period
11.gif
So we did get a lot of BDing in this month. But trust me, I had to be creative to get him in the mood
9.gif

As for me, I had a significant temp shift today. My temp went from 97.91 yesterday to 98.17 today! I haven''t been in the 98''s all cycle. I''ll likely test Friday if my temps stay up. If I chicken out, then I''ll definitely test Saturday!

Wow...this thread has been move''n and groove''n...it''s been hard catching up with all of you since being out in San Francisco!

Amber - soooooooooo HAPPY to see you back here.
36.gif
I''ve been thinking about you from time to time so, I''m glad you checked in with us. Sorry to hear that you''ve been having a tough time w/ things...being sick, family drama and hubby''s issues. I second everyone else who said that he should go for a physical which would be a simple start in helping you two work through this. Obviously, he has to be the one to want to go...maybe if you make the appointment for him, it will be easier on him?

Fisher - I agree with you - I do feel that most women bare the "burden" of the whole TTC process w/ having to worry about timing, temp, chart, check CM, POAS, etc. It''s really A LOT when you really think about it and it''s hard to be the one to crack the whip and get our DH''s into the swing of things during that crucial time of the month.
20.gif
I''ve said this before, but I''ve learned from my DH that he does not want to know the details of how my body works...to him, it''s a turn off. For me, it''s better to just let him know "it''s time" and leave it at that.

Ebree - YAY for being proactive and makng that appointment! I would''ve done the exact same thing in your shoes...why waste anymore time? This will get things moving in the right direction for you and hopefully put you at ease through this stressful process. Please report back to us regarding your appt...I think we''d all be interested in hearing what the RE has to say, etc.

Peony - I read that it IS common for women to get a random anovulatory or very long cycles once in a while. I haven''t had an anovulatory one yet (knock on wood), but I did have a weird longer one back in June. My cycle is normally around 30 days (lately it''s been 29), but in June it was 37. It may have been stress, but it also might be because I took vitamin B6 that cycle for the first two weeks (my LP was 9 days for a couple cycles), but who really knows. I did stop taking the B6 after that long cycle in the fear that it may have caused it to be so long.

LuLu - I''m glad to hear that your appt. went well and that you really like your doctor...that''s so important! What''s been your average LP? I know Ebree suggested the B6 vitamin, but I probably wouldn''t unless your doc recommends it (read my post to Peony above). I know there was someone else on this thread who also had problems with B6. I know you weren''t going to use it, but I thought I''d just tell you as an FYI.
5.gif

Little - Good for you!
36.gif
I don''t think I''ve EVER walked out of Target empty-handed!
31.gif

Robbie - Are you still keeping up the BD marathon? I think your body is obviously readjusting so, this one might be a wonky one!

Well, I''m just plugging away...waiting to start BDing tomorrow night. We''ll BD until Sunday and then my DH is headed to BMW driving school for 3 days...I''m supposed to ovulate next Wed. and he will not be around to the days leading up to it.
39.gif
We''ll do what we can, but I''m not banking on this cycle being our month. In other news related to DH...I ordered him the PreConceive and Fertell tests which should be coming anyday now...I''m anxious to see his results.

Anyway, I am trying to cut down on my caffine intake (which is killing me) - I''ve been drinking decaff in the morning and then avoiding it the rest of the day. I know this has always been a debate, but I figured I''d try it this cycle. Is anyone else avoiding caffine while TTC?

CD10

Good morning everyone. I am feeling so sick today, and yet- I''m at WORK?? My head is so stuffed up that everything is heard from inside a fog. Ugh. I hate being sick. My back is hurting from the vicious sneezes from the last two days. Good times.

Thanks so much for all the kindness. It''s really nice to hear that people are willing to hear about my drama.
1.gif

Sha: My DH is almost 30. He''s pretty much always been like this, so low testosterone could really be a factor, I think.

Okay, going to try to crawl into a cave somewhere- this cold is kicking my heiny big time.

Blushing, I''m not sure what to do about the marathon now since I have no ewcm today, maybe we should start every other day? I know that every day isn''t supposed to hurt sperm count, but I wonder if every day for extended periods of time could. Plus, we just couldn''t handle any more after 7 days last cycle. 7 days would put us through Friday which would only be CD18. Hmmm, I can''t decide what to do! Oh and it doesn''t help that we couldn''t stop laughing for the first 15 minutes of trying to get in the mood last night. It definitely didn''t help that peony''s "initiating insemination sequence" line kept coming to mind.

As far as caffeine goes, I stopped as soon as we started trying. Not because I think it''s necessarily bad to drink it while ttc, but because I have a really hard time cutting it out of my diet. I figured I''d hate to have caffeine withdrawal headaches at the same time as morning sickness. Blegh
14.gif

I''m having a really hard time distinguishing between cm, semen and left over pre-conceive this cycle. When it''s ewcm, I have no problem, but I keep getting something that I thought was just left over semen, but now I''m wondering if it''s watery cm? I read that watery can stretch a little, but not very far, but so can semen. Whatever it is, it dries up when I rub it between my fingers, which is making me lean towards semen.

Howdy everyone,

First morning with the new BBT. (It''s the generic Rite-Aid brand, the only one they had). I decided to read the little charting pamphlet that came with it before going to bed. Big mistake! First of all, it was very poorly written and therefore confusing. It mentioned a temp dip before O and that we are most fertile during the 24 hours after the temp dip. You could easily take that to mean that THAT''s when you should start BDing, in which case couldn''t it be too late to catch the egg? I''m going back to FF to see if their advice contradicts this. There was no mention at all of fertile CM.

As for caffeine, the jury''s still out for me. I drink a 12 oz. cup of coffee over the course of a day. Half in the a.m. and half...right about now, in fact. I''d decided I wouldn''t give it up since I rarely ever have more than this and could easily subsist on half that amount. But I don''t think I could subsist on none! Last cycle, when I thought I was preggers I switched to half-calf for a day. (Didn''t taste as good, of course, but no withdrawal headache, so it will be doable. I figure if I do get pregnant my body will tell me what''s right. Right?

Hi gals! I''ve really been trying to watch my CM this month, but I have a few questions. First, is EWCM clear like egg whites, or can it be a cream color? Mine has thinned out from yesterday and it''s not really gummy anymore, but it''s definitely not clear. Also, how far will EWCM stretch? Mine still only stretches an inch. Thanks!!

As always, GOOD LUCK to everyone.

That is a good test suggesting it is semen. Watery is easiest to identify in the panties IMO, it is the type that soaks them during the day! Gross and LOL, but that is true. And fertile watery will make a round wet patch, whereas infertile CM makes a streak, usually whitish.

Festy - I think some women get a dip in temperature before they have their O rise...but I know that I didn't really have one. My temp actually went up a bit the day before I O'd, so I definitely wouldn't count on that as for when you should start DTD.

Fwiw, I like temping because it confirms when I O'd - but we start DTD as soon as I see EWCM and continue until I get confirmation of O, from fertility friend or my own body.

Sabine - Are you newly of BCP? I think nutty cycles are par for the course. And yay for possible egg catching!

BB - Caffeine is an interesting issue. Once I got my BFP, I cut way back (less than a cup of coffee/soda each day). When I'm in the TWW, I try to be a bit more conscious of my caffeine intake...and since my early m/c, and all the research I've done, it seems pretty clear to me that there is little that I can do to make sure things go well for the baby at the implantation stage. I mean, really, crack and heroin addicts get pregnant and have babies all the time. Folks that have unplanned pregnancies often drink several cups of coffee/day before they know they are prego, and often have successful pregnancies. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to start smoking crack or pounding pots of coffee...and I know that tons of caffeine isn't advised, but I'm not going to drive myself nuts. Sheesh. That was a long response!

ETA - (I hit submit accidentally)

Amber - Hope you feel better soon. Colds blow.

I'm CD3 over here...so not a darn thing going on, other than some pesky pesky cramps. But oh well.

EW can be tingend white or pink, so color isn''t the deciding factor. Stretchiness is. What happens when you stretch it and inch, does it break or does it bounce back into a ball? EW will do neither, it will just keep going and then I guess if you get to its limit it will just fall in a long strand and catch somewhere else on your hand.

Ignore that advice it is totally wrong and will cause you to miss your egg! That''s OLD SCHOOL, uninformed charting advice.

That''s the annoying thing. These last few cycles there''s been almost nothing on the panties to check which is why I started checking internally last cycle.

Hmmm...so I made a post on FF about how I was annoyed that my body tried to trick me and someone responded that it could actually just be a fallback rise. So, I put in a fake temp for tomorrow and if my temp stays the same as today, I get crosshairs with advanced! If it goes up a little, I get them with FAM too! Now I''m excited to see what tomorrow brings!

I feel for you and Amber - my DH is a ''once a month'' type, which right now I''m grateful for. But I did forsee a nightmare when it came to TTC. In the end I turned it into a military operation - he got a lesson in human biology which diagrams and everything and told that when I said DTD then we DTD.

Luckily it worked fast for us as I''m pretty sure two months down the line the novelty would have worn off and we''d have been in trouble.

I think men with low libidos are more common than people think - we are all just brought up thinking that all men are up for it 20 times a day if they could and then it comes as a shock if you are with someone for whom sex is like lobster - nice but not everyday thanks...

I don''t have any advice, but I do sympathise.

DD, that was a great explanation. Mine just fell back into a ball, so I guess it wasn''t the right stuff. Darn. I just get so excited when I have even a small amount of it, ''cause I dig DEEP far as my fingers can go, swipe like mad, and my fingers are almost always just a little moist when they come out.

I just wanted to post my failure of a chart for so far this month. I really hope that it''s just so long since I''m recently off the pill and will get regular soon!

Sabine,

I''m hoping the same thing for you.

It''s crazy when you''re waiting to get back to regular.

Hope it''s fast as can be!!

If you have the time and the interest, a while back (maybe in May-June somewhere )I posted a rather graphic explanation of all the different types of CF and also a rather graphic description of how to use the two-finger sampling technique. Here is the two-finger sampling technique as advocated by TCOYF and Dreamer
2.gif
: If you can''t reach, try squatting on the ground and bearing down a little like you are going number 2
25.gif
, this will move the cervix down towards the opening of the vagina, then insert 2 fingers slightly in, slightly parted, and put one on either side of the cervix (which isn''t all the way at the end of the vaginal canal BTW it is usually a few inches closer to the opening and on the lower wall of the vagina). Then pinch the two fingers together and pull them out again. This method will "catch" the CF between your fingers and it was the only method that worked for me to actually get the EWCF, which stays up by el cervixo most of the time. One finger will just push the EWCF around and won''t actually pull it out! "Moist" fingers are meaningless, since it is always moist. You are looking for either really runny snot (like when you cry and cry and cry and cry about your boyfriend in highschool and then blow you nose!) or else big wet patches in the panties!

The globby stuff you describe often comes a day or so before full on EW. OR it could be co-existing with watery. OR it could be nothing fertile at all
25.gif
Sometimes the EW is so slippery that is slides out when you tinkle so you never see it. Even with strange CF, if you DTD at least every other day i nthe 4-5 days preceding ovulation (or even once in that period!) you have a change of getting pg. But according to Indy''s research if you can BD the day before ovulation you have like 40% odds of conception (same odds of m/c of course), so that''s why I personally like the every day approach if you can swing it, since otherwise how will you know you got the day before ovulation?

Hmm... I missed this research posting!!

I''ll just have to hope that I get lucky (twice over!!) and DTD on the day before ovulation, then. Every other day is what has been working best for us, since it is a long marathon. I''d read (I think on here) that when you get preggo from having sex the day before ovulation, you''re more likely to have a boy.... I wonder how that plays into the statistics of the theory.

oh fisher - the Shettles method is all about when to DTD to sway your odds of having a boy or girl. LOVE it. No idea if it works, but I love the theory. Here is a cut and paste for you from wikipedia:
According to the theory, male (Y) sperm are faster but more fragile than female (X) sperm. Further, acidic environments harm Y sperm, according to the theory, making conception of a girl more likely. The Shettles method aims to exploit these two factors.[2] In order to have a boy insemination should occur as close as possible to the moment of ovulation so that the faster, Y-sperm arrive first and achieve conception, according to the theory. When seeking a girl insemination the couple should seek to have sex 2½ to 3 days before ovulation. Shallow penetration coupled with the sperm deposited close to the entrance favors female conception because the area is more acidic, which inhibits the weaker Y sperm, according to the theory. To allow the Y sperm to reach the egg first (which supposedly moves at a faster rate), deeper penetration should be sought, to deposit the sperm at the least acidic area near the uterus opening. Female Orgasm favors male sperm because they make the vaginal environment more alkaline.

Re: coffee. I'm an espresso drinker, and have cut down to one (to coax me out of bed) and thats it. I drank my 2-3 espresso's while TTC, but cut down to 1 during my TWW just in case. ;)

Good luck you TTC troopers! I agree this process is laborious, thankless work...but I guess it's to prepare us for motherhood?!

According to Shettles, your BD timing favors a boy. I also saw PINK for you initially, and with my record, that means it's a boy!

I know right? Boy all the way according to Shettles. BUT. Then I did this Chinese Gender Predictor, and it''s all Girl! I posted this for entertainment purposes on the Preg board, but I thought it would be interesting for anyone here too (espesh anyone with kids already - like Steph

Hey Ebree,

Do you guess the sex of each preggo here on PS?

Have you been right yet?

Yeah, I know the theory about the sex being related to timing of sex, but I was wondering how that correlates with the theory that day before O increases your chances of being preggo by such a high percent.

Fun stuff.

Speaking of gender predictors, some of my family members swear by the wedding ring swinging pendulum. Back and forth, boy. Swinging circles, girl.

This supposedly is in your blood stream and you can do it preggo or not. Male and female can do it, too.

I conned Paul into playing along with me on it. It came up the same for both of us, boy girl boy.

Or it could have just been boy girl, and it cycled through again on boy. I stopped after that, for fear of having more than three kiddos!!

I'm a member of a large pregnant community online, and most say the chinese gender chart is bunk. It 'predicts' the correct sex about 50 percent of the time.

Fisher-

I've made a few 'sex' predictions here at PS, and they've all been wrong.

I'm going to try the wedding ring test, though- that sounds fun! Do you hold it over your belly?

DD, thanks for the great description! I tried your method and was able to get out a lot more CM this time. It seems like it is getting closer to EWCM, but it's not quite stretchy enough.

Also, I think that I was confused about where the cervix is. There is a large, soft, mass about halfway into my vagina on the front wall, and a hard, pea-sized bump just above that. Other than that, I can't find any landmarks, and I can't get my fingers far enough to reach any "endpoint." It think that the large, soft mass is my cervix, at least from this random pic I found: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7c/Cervix_checkup_(no_description).svg/550px-Cervix_checkup_(no_description).svg.png&imgrefurl=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Cervix_checkup_(no_description).svg&h=450&w=550&sz=47&hl=en&start=15&um=1&usg=__eQ5o3unZpv3rC9EznxxmsjPv1WY=&tbnid=Z856Y-cW6KQTHM:&tbnh=109&tbnw=133&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcervix%26ndsp%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN. The cervix is #6 on the diagram. What I thought was my cervix is just a blind pocket called the fornix. I wonder what the pea-sized mass is.

Thanks!
