Home The Official TTC Thread!

Good afternoon. Procrastinating at work, thought I''d drop in say a quick hello!
35.gif

Oobie- Welcome!!!! As most people say, there is never a "perfect" time. If you guys are ready, that''s all that matters. You can do it! Good luck.

Ebree- Ouch. That sounds really painful. I would most definitely call your doctor or nurse just to be sure. I am sure it''s easily explainable!

Am- Sorry you are out of contention this month. Love your attitude though, new cycle, new chance is absolutely correct! Plus you get to have fun b-ding!

Lindsay- It makes it even better that you threw a used pee stick into an LV! I like you even more now. Too funny!!!

Feb2003- Sounds promising! Good luck!

Fisher, Robbie- Now it''s the fun part. Throw on some music and dance, dance I said!

BlushingBride- Hmmm, so you have no symptoms "besides" most of the pregnancy symptoms??? Could be a good sign! Fingers crossed for you!

Po- Exciting about your sister, keep us posted, especially on the name. I love knowing new baby names.

Amber- Grrr on your behalf. I am sorry you are stuck in the middle and that your dad is having a hard time. I think DD had some good advice though, if it helps. Only other thing I can think of is to ask if there is some sort of legal language in your Grandma''s will that could help your dad???? Just a thought. Hope your week gets better sweetie.

As for me, well, it''s getting harder to wait! My BFF lives in London and I have been planning to pay her a visit probably in October. In the back of my mind I definitely didn''t want to start TTC before then, as she and I had big plans to duck into many pubs. Well, she called me this morning and she thinks she''s preggo!!!!
36.gif
So I can remove that as a reason to wait. That list of reasons is getting shorter and shorter. Plus, I really really would love to be preggo at the same time as my BFF. It would be so cool to go through that together. But I am holding off for a bit, just want to let my cycle regulate, get some more time with the prenatals, and give DH a bit more time.

Ok, now I am off to scan the thread to figure out the differences in CM and how that lets you know when you are O''ing

Question to all you charters...can I wait until my period is over to start temping? Will that screw up my chart? Not to be gross, but I''d like to avoid inserting anything down there (besides a tampon) until my period is over. What do you guys think? Based on past cycles I normally stop bleeding around cd5 and ovulate cd13-14 (tracked using opks and cbfm). If I wait until cd5 will I have gathered enough temps to make the charting effective pre-o? Thanks, as always, for your help!

ps- I have to temp vaginally since I sleep with my mouth open so oral temps don''t work. Just in case anyone was wondering...

Am04 - you can definitely wait until after your period to temp. Those first few days (during menstration) really don't matter in the grand scheme of things.
2.gif

Fertiity Friend sets a cover line at your average temp of the temps you've tracked (which for you, will be starting from CD 5). Then it will mark your ovulation date after you've had 3 or 4 consecutive high temps. So, you'll be fine. Just be sure to start as soon as it's over because I know some ladies on her ovulate earlier than normal so, you don't want to miss that egg!
36.gif

Just an FYI - I also sleep with my mouth open most nights and temp orally because I started doing it my first month of temping and had a clear ovulation date and temp rise on my chart. So, my temps change drastically enough for FF to detect ovualtion regardless if my mouth was open at night or not. I've been doing it orally ever since...

Ditto!

Pandora- I guess I''d better start my acrobatic training then! I feel like there should have been a fertility class in high school... there''s so much I don''t know!

Dreamer- I''m definitely working on reading through the whole thread... I''m only on page 9 or so though so it may take a while! I did, however, read the entire thread on "favorite baby finds"
3.gif
I apologize if I ask a few questions that have already been discussed until I catch up on the entire thread.

Littlelysser- I browsed through here a couple of weeks ago and noticed fertilityfriend mentioned so I registered but didn''t do much with it. I just started really using it though. What other features does the $5 get you? I have like 10 internet tests left so maybe I won''t buy anymore when I run out.

Bbride- So far fertilityfriend seems really eay to use. I''m going to start out with CM and then start temping. I''m not sure about checking my cervix though.

China- Thanks for the warm welcome!

We''re doing the every other day thing, Dreamer. Once we know that we''re "in the zone" (if we can determine that), we''ll up it if we need to, or want to. But I think every other day should cover us at this point. Just my luck, I won''t ovulate until day 34 or something nutty.

So for everyone TTC, did you tell parents/family/friends that you were trying or do you plan on just letting them know when you get pregnant?

Oob,

It depends on who you''re talking about.

My parents know we are trying, Paul''s parents do not. Paul''s mother has been *insanely* concentrated on wanting a grand child since before we were married, and it''s just too much pressure to think of her calling all the time asking "how things are going." In fact, once we are pregnant, we likely won''t share the news until the first trimester is over, because of this. She is a wonderful person, but is VERY boisterous about her excitement and we''d prefer to enjoy it just between us for a moment...

Work friends know we are trying because it''s hard for me to go through a whole day at work, day in and day out, and not talk to my close friends about it. And, in my line of work, the topic comes up a lot. My closest friends who are either young parents or who are also trying also know, because it''s a support system for me when I get down about the waiting game.

**********
Have you heard about "pregorexia?" I just saw a blurb on E! Tv about it last night. It broke my heart to think that it''s become such an epidemic that they''ve made a name for women who starve themselves while pregnant. I know keeping healthy is important, and even more so during pregnancy, but starving is NOT the way to go! One "good" thing I learned about it though, is that the baby gets nutrients first, not the mother. So at least the baby''s the last to be damaged by the irresponsible choice that the mother is making.

I think more and more women are being embraced while pregnant; you know? Clothes are cuter, women aren''t hiding from the limelight when pregnant, and being a mother isn''t seen as this prison sentence any more. I look forward to having a big baby belly!

Didn''t temp last month at all, just did CM/CP and dates. I did dates only for the 5 cycles before that one.

Can someone take a look at my chart - do my temps look on the low side?
I used celcius too, and my pre-O temps ranged from 36.0-36.6. Absolute values don''t matter, it is the change. ETA: sometimes the values matter and can indicate a thyroid problem but that is pretty unusual. Low post-O temps (i.e., barely above the cover line) can indicate a progesterone problem. Again, very rare.

I would bet you already O-d on CD-12 or 13 and another high temp will confirm. Play around and enter a temp on CD 15 that is the same as the on CD 14 or maybe half a degree higher and see if it gives you cross-hairs...
What is the "cover line?"

I know my parents would be happy for us but I''m sure my dad would prefer I wait until after I''m done with school. He felt the same way about me getting married though in the beginning and a couple of months later he was like "soooo when''s the wedding? are you getting a ring for christmas??". He knows I''m responsible, it just takes him a little while to process things and come around to the idea. I think we will wait on telling parents (unless they directly ask in a non-hostile way) but I don''t think I can keep it from one of DH''s sisters who I''m really close to. I just worry that it might get out to the other 5 sisters lol.

As for pregorexia... I didn''t know it was becoming common but I do remember reading Priscilla Presley''s (Elvis''s wife''s) bio in middle school. She was soooo worried that she would get fat and Elvis wouldn''t like her anymore... so she starved herself and only gained like 11 pounds during her pregnancy!!!

oh AMBER!

I just read that your man Michael Phelps is hosting opening show of SNL- make you feel any better?

I would love for them to do a skit about how sexy he is until he starts talking! Is that asking too much????

I hope he parades around in his swim trunks just for you Amber.

Fisher it is the red horizontal line that FF uses to visually help you see the temp shift at ovulation. It has no realy meaning, jus ta visual tool, but if temps post-O are really low and so hover near that line (and thus are close to pre-O temps) then this can *sometimes* indicate either a thyroid issue or a progesterone issue. Or you could be putting your thermometer in the wrong place

Oobie I told my best friends, that''s it. Family was too eager and I didn''t want the pressure. PS: how old are you if you don''t mind me asking? Just wondering because of all the talk from family etc about waiting for marriage and family. You could be 18 for all I care, just curious!

If you were 15 I might object though
2.gif

I'll be 23 in January. Mentally though I feel wayyy older. DH is 26. I've been on my own financially (and otherwise) for a while now but I am my mom's only child and my dad's only *good* child so they still worry like crazy about me.

Oobie - I only told our close friends...and it was more in a, "Welllll, we might possibly be trying to have a kid." Only my besties knew that I was charting and temping and stuff.

I had a good friend of mine warn me about telling too many people...because there are folks that are unable to get prego. I guess her friend told lots of folks that they were trying - and they were unable to get pregnant. They ended up adopting a baby from China, but it was really hard for her to have people ask about how things were going.

We told people that we had babies on the brain and that we might start trying "soon". But we NEVER told people when we were actually trying. Didn''t want people calling all the time asking about it or being on preggo watch all the time everytime I didn''t order a drink at dinner.

We didn''t tell anyone we were TTC. I didn''t want them asking or wondering if I was pregnant. We also wanted to surprise them when I was pregnant. Although, it wasn''t much of a surprise to my family since they knew we wanted a baby in the near future.

Sabine is the only one IRL who knows we''re trying. I''ll tell the rest of my besties as soon as we get a BFP, but I think we''ll wait a bit before we tell our parents. I don''t know if we''ll wait the full first trimester, but I want to at least hear the heartbeat.

My friends and family didn''t know exactly that we were TTC, but they knew we wanted children in the next few years. Once I got a BFP I called my parents and two of my best friends. I explained to all of them that it''s obviously very early, and they understand. If something were to happen, I would share that with my parents and these friends anyway, so I feel fine telling them.

Hi gals!

Another quick one from me- I promise I'll catch up tonight or tomorrow! I'm just exhausted, and DH and I want to make it a "Dexter" night. We have 2 new discs to watch.

Lab levels: 7 DPO progesterone level was 34.4. Now, I don't know exactly what this means, but I think it's good. Last time I spoke to doc, she said "25 and over means probably pregnant," but I don't know if that takes into account Clomid use. She's supposed to be in tomorrow, so she'll call me to discuss it. As for the left boob, it still hurts. Felt a few shocks in the right boob, but nothing compared to her sister.

Anyone testing tonight or tomorrow?

OMG EBree!!! Sending lots, and lots, and LOTS of good wishes your way!!

Hi ladies. Just wanted to check in real quick, I''m at work so I''ll have to wait til tomorrow to catch up on everything.
Thanks for the well wishes everyone, the day turned out to be ok. It was nice to have the 1.5 hr drive to relax by myself, and of course when I got to my aunt''s house there was lots of yummy food waiting for me. It''s nice coming from and italian fam

Grandma sent me home with 2 baby blankets she made. Both in girl colors. A few times I heard this one... "You know, there hasn''t been a girl on that side of the family in 19 years? " and "I picture you with girls. You''ll be the one who has them." Um, I hope mr. stork man is listening! Heaven help me if I have all boys

Oh, and for the record, they don''t even know we are trying yet.
20.gif
DH just laughed when I brought the blankets in from the car.

Does anyone have fun plans for the long weekend? We''re going to a 49er game tomorrow, and a BBQ on Sunday, and my Brother, SIL and nephew are flying in for a visit tonight. Should be a pretty nice weekend. OH... and the dancing. I can''t forget that!

They should have asked him to do the Halloween show.

Late to the game since I''ve been on business but wanted to give a big congrats to Lindsey and LL!!

well i'm at cd4 right now...not much else for this week.

I'm most likely hoping for a May baby! As long as I O before the 8th, (which would be CD23, do pretty likely) I would be due at the end of May.

ETA: Good luck, Ebree! I hope your doctor meant those levels most likely mean pregnant even if you're on Clomid!

I got crosshairs!

All that worrying about my temps being low and it goes shooting up from 36.27 to 36.40 today.

Yee hah, now I can stop DTD!
20.gif

This puts me at 3 DPO so I guess the knitting needles are out for the next few weeks...

I''ve told one of my BFF that we''re trying - she''s an OB/Gynae so I can ask all those moronic questions.
9.gif
I''ve also told one of the guys I work with. He''s in his 60s (although looks about 38) and has grandchildren, and is really excited for me.

None of our parents know - although I think my parents have a fair idea. I was discussing charting and BBTs with my father the week before the wedding. They also know we have names picked out - my dad wants to know them, but my mother doesn''t in case she hates them.
33.gif

Thanks TG!

Ebree - Can''t wait to hear what your doc has to say! Good vibes going your way.

HIL - We have a wedding this weekend, and September 1 is our one year anniversary. We have a great bottle of champagne some friends got us as a wedding gift to have on our anniversary...Looks like that is a no go. I think we are pretty booked up this weekend, but we may try to do a nice dinner, just the two of us.

Tiffany - You''re terrible!
2.gif

Robbie and Sparkle - May baby vibes going your way!

Pandora - YAY for crosshairs! Relax. Get some sleep! Hehee! Good luck!!!

I''m doing pretty well.

And, last night sucked. I called my BFF (the one in Chicago, who I just got back from visiting) - who I talked to YESTERDAY - and her MIL tells me that she''s in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. Long story short, she''s going to be okay...but her MIL didn''t have much info so the two hours I spent not knowing anything really sucked. They aren''t sure what caused it and they are going to keep her in the hospital a bit longer. So even though she''s pretty much in the clear, some good thoughts sent her way would really be appreciated!

am04 - Sorry to hear about AFF! Here's to wishing you luck on your next cycle!

fisher - Hopefully this cycle won't be very long and you will o earlier. My last cycle, cycle #2 post D & C, it was 37 days long and o day was on cd 23. It was a long cycle for me. Thankfully, I o'd on cd 17 or cd 19 this cycle, so it will be a shorter cycle for me this time.

Ebree - Your progesterone level is great! When they first checked my progesterone level at 8 weeks last time I was pregnant, it was 33. 34.4 is a great number and hopefully that means you are pg!!! Good luck and keep us posted. Sorry to hear about your left bb and now even your right one. It probably is a good sign!
36.gif

36.gif

HIL - That's so cute that your grandma made you two baby blankets already. I'm sure she's anxious to have great grandkids whether boys or girls! Sounds like you have a pretty busy weekend. Have fun!

Pandora - Yay for crosshairs! It's always exciting to get those and such a relieve to stop bding.
6.gif

LL - Happy Anniversary! You guys sure have something to celebrate on this first one. How exciting! Sorry to hear about your BFF and sending good thoughts her way! Hope she gets out soon and will be healthy and well!

I think many of our close friends and family know we're TTC especially after the missed miscarriage I had in March. I only keep close friends and one close co-worker posted on things. My parents are anxiously waiting for some good news soon, but thankfully they don't ask me at all about the progress. I think everyone we know knows that we want a baby more than ever, so asking us would make me more anxious and sad the longer we go without conceiving.

I'm cd 25 - 8 dpo or 6 dpo (depending on whether FF is accurate about my O day). I probably won't be testing until at least mid-next week if I can hold out that long. My luteal phase is 14 days. Just hope my temps stay up.

Mela - How are you doing, hun?

Have a great long weekend everyone! Knit away or poas and let us know!!!

Good morning everyone! I''m so excited it''s a long weekend, but a little bummed that the summer is over.
20.gif
So, I was going to test tomorrow, but broke down and tested this AM with one of the cheap internet tests and got a BFN (I''m 11 DPO).
39.gif
I''m supposed to get my AFF on Monday so, I won''t test again until then or Tues if she doesn''t come a knock''n.

I had a slight dip in temp, but woke up with my mouth open so, I know that might have a lot do with it. Anyway, I really feel like I''m out, but I''ll keep knitting until proven otherwise.

LL - Happy Anniversary! DH and I just celebrated ours last weekend (ours was this past Monday). Sorry to hear about your friend - wishing her a speedy recovery!
Pandora - don''t you just love seeing those crosshairs? It''s such a great feeling (I know, it''s the little things that amuse me
5.gif
)

Robbie - lots of baby dust for a May baby being thrown your way!
36.gif
>>>

Mela - I hope you and DH are having a blast in NYC (and catching that egg)!

Ebree - fingers and toes crossed for you! I''ll be checking in over the weekend to see if you have any updates for us!
36.gif

Am04 - Ugh, that annoying AFF! Better luck next cycle!

Tiffany and ChinaCat - I''m ROTFL over here!!!

HIL - good to see you back! How adorable your grandma made you the two baby blankets!!?? If that''s not a hint, I don''t know what is!
2.gif
Sounds like a great weekend for you coming up - have fun!!

Well, I''m leaving work early today and then working on uploading our Europe pictures. Then we were going to head to CT to spend the weekend with our friends at their new house near the beach! There will be four other couples staying along with us so, it will be fun! We''ll be shopping and the guys will be golfing and BBQing. All in all - a great weekend!
35.gif
I''m not sure if I''ll have a chance to get on PS over the weekend, but in case I don''t....enjoy the holiday everyone and baby dust to all!
35.gif

Little- I hope your friend is ok. Enjoy the wedding (I don''t know about you, but I enjoy them much more now that I don''t have to think about my own!) Have a great anniversary celebration, no champagne required
2.gif

Radiant and Pandora- knit away! Fingers crossed for you both.
Blushing- Have a great weekend. It sounds like it will be a nice getaway!
