Home The Official TTC Thread!

Good morning all!

I am freaking exhausted and also slightly energetic, which is crazy odd. I have so much to reply to, but I don''t even know where to begin:

Ebree: Ooooh, good news at the doc, I hope all goes well and your boob stops zapping you like that! You''re an absolute love, and hope everything falls into place!

Oobie: Welcome to the party of TTC- I hope things work out for you! I''ve only told two cousins and my close friends that we''re TTC, DH on the other hand has told his entire faculty at his school. No Pressure there.
20.gif

China: I saw Phelps is hosting! I swear, the more he wears and talks the less I like him. I wish he''d get back to swimming and keeping his mouth shut so I can go back to fantasizing about eating pudding off his abs with my hands behind my back. How dare he actually SPEAK! Doesn''t he know he''s RUINING it for me?

Happy: I love your grandma.
30.gif
I was the last girl (and child) in my family for about 25 years- that''s a lot of pressure for my cousins! Luckily the first born niece/cousin/grandaughter was a girl. 49ers! Lucky! We''re doing a BBQ on Monday, but a steady day of shopping with my dad, lovin'' with DH and walking with my dog for us the rest of the weekend. I should be o''ing this weekend.

NYC sparkle, I''m hoping for a June and after baby, if only so DH can have all the time he wants to enjoy it and help me- he''s a teacher!

LL: I''m so sorry to hear about your friend- hopefully she''s back to 100% asap. God, I can''t imagine how your must have felt.

Radiant: Hopefully you''re coming along with a BFP soon.

BB: I hope you get your BFP soon, we''re all rooting for you. Have fun uploading the pics- I''ve got to tell you it''s the most annoying thing EVER. SO boring.

As for me: I''m on CD 12, supposed to O soon. I had a scare earlier this week, my temps went up with NO O signs at all, and FF had me o''ing on like, Wednesday. I know I had woken up a few times before the big wake I test at, so I''m sure that''s what it was. Every month I have o pains, EWCM and all that good stuff. I also did an OPK yesterday with a faint line, so hopefully today I should get a nice dark line. Blah.

Anyway, hope all are well!

China Cat- Yay for your bff maybe being preggo...looks like the signs are aligning for an earlier ttc start date!

Blushing Bride and DD Thanks for chiming in re: charting. I'm excited to start and see what's going on. BB- hope you have a great weekend, sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

oobiecoo- We haven't told anyone we are ttc. I've seen too many friends struggle for years trying to get pregnant...and they have said that one of the hardest parts is people constantly asking/wondering.

HIL- Glad you had such a nice visit. The pink baby blankets are too funny!

Feb- Are you still having crazy symptoms?

EBree- Glad to hear your progesterone is so high! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Pandora- Yay for crosshairs!

LL- Sorry about your friend. I hope she has a swift recovery and they find out why this may have happened.

Robbie and Radiant- Good luck! I hope this is your month!

Amber- You're too funny...good luck this weekend!

CD3 here. We're hosting dinner parties tonight and Sunday night so there is going to be a lot of cooking and eating in our house this weekend. I'm really excited for the three-day weekend, this week wiped me out. Happy Friday everyone!

Thanks NYC and Am04 for thinking of me! I think I''m out though. I got my hopes up last night when it looked like a Faint BFP on the internet cheapie strip so I took another one an hour later (antoher internet strp) and it was a BFN. This morning I had some slightly pink/brown tinged CM when I checked so I figured, my period was coming, put a pad on and told DH. We went jumped into the day because we had a busy but fun one, so I didn''t have time to think about it. I just got home, and went to the bathroom for the first time and nothing on my pad! So I checked my CF and it''s brown, not pink nor red
33.gif
So, I''m still thinking I''m NOT pregnant but a little part of me is hoping it''s implantation bleeding? Probably not though.

Am04- Have a great weekend!!

Robbie- The nice thing about a May due date is the change of giving birth on Mother''s Day!

Thanks for the baby dust everyone!

So random question, I understand that EWCM is necessary to allow the sperm to swim past the cervix, but how do they get from the bottom of the uterus into the fallopian tube? Do they swim in the uterine lining? Are our uteruses (uteri? lol) actually filled with fluid? I just keep picturing these little spermies jumping from the bottom of the uterus up to the fallopian tube a la someone on a trampoline...

LOL! I never thought about that. I bet there is a mucusy surface on the uterine lining and they surf up on that!

in amongst all the madness that is TTC, I've just spent 5 hours with my sister who has gone into labour this morning. I received a call as I was just about to leave for work saying Po, my waters have broken, I need you. click.......................I've never seen so much water come out of a person in my life. i thought it would be one whoosh, but she's been going for nearly 5 hours solid. Well the pain is starting so the poor we thing has just gone into hospital with her husband, who typically was working away and had to drive home, hence me being there, so in a few hours I will hopefully have another beautiful niece or nephew! Its her third child and of course, the labour isn't the same as the previous 2. I am so excited, hope it all goes well and I'll meet the wee thing tonight.

Keep you posted!!

Oh, and hopefully, this is what we'll all be looking forward to in the future.
Well my sis had a wee girl and I now have 3 beautiful nieces, Olivia, Amelia and baby Claudia. She was 8.4lbs and my sis had her naturally with no epidural, pain meds and didn't need stitches.

I'm so happy, she is gorgeous and makes me even more broody. DH and I were elated but had slight petted lips coming out of the hospital tonight.

Robbie-

De-lurking here: The sperm gets through the cervix, then to the uterus, and up into the tubes by a bunch of complex mechanisms, but basically its all about the motility of the sperm though the cervical fluids....That's why having healthy sperm is very important- Healthy sperm have great motility, which is what they need to make their long trip (which takes a pretty long time, btw). Also, a woman's body helps the spermies and the egg come together (cilia in the womans tubes help move the egg along). Its an amazing process, really!!!

I''m still reading through all of the pages here so sorry if this has been discussed already but...

Are your husbands doing anything while you are TTC to guarantee the healthiness of their sperm?

Robbie, did you see this? The Chapter called The Sperm''s Journey shows what happens. It''s very neat to watch!

I've read men should wear boxers, stay out of hot baths, hot tubs, and saunas, and abstain from smoking, alcohol, and other drugs since these all can reduce a man's fertility. He could also eat healthier and/or take multivitamins.

But what is the actual medium that allows sperm to travel in the uterus? They can''t move through air, so there must be a fluid of some sort inside the uterus...

I think I found the answer -

The role of the cervical mucus is to nourish, protect, and speed the sperm on its way up through the uterus and into the Fallopian tubes so that it can fertilize the egg and help you in getting pregnant. So CM helps move the sperm past the cervix and uterus.

Great detective work snlee! I guess that means that the goo fills us completely during ovulation. What a lovely thought.

Hrmph. I prefer the trampoline idea over the goo filled uterine yucktastic. In fact, I''m sticking with it! Trampoline it is. In fact, I think I''ll picture it looking like the emotie that robbie used initially.

Po - Congrats on the new niece!

Am - I''m really glad I charted. Prior to temping I had no idea if I was even ovulating...so it was really nice to get that reassurance. Put my nutter mind at ease a bit.

Oobie - My DH didn''t do anything. Just was his fabulous self. Of course, he''s not much of a drinker and he quit smoking over a year ago...so we didn''t have to worry about that.

Ebree - Hope you hear some good news!!!

Amber - Good to see you checking in...and I agree. Phelps needs to be seen (with as little clothing as possible) and absolutely not heard. He does look kinda cute (read less monstery) on the cover of the ESPN magazine. Oh, and waking up totally messed with my temps! So I wouldn''t worry!

Radiant - Good luck with the knitting! Sending baby dust your way!

Quick update on my friend - they don''t know what caused the embolism. So right now she''s going to have to take blood thinners for at least 6 months while they figure out what caused it. She''s pretty upset. Still in the hospital, but she''s going to be okay...and that is what is key.

Ok Ladies, I need some HPT help!

I was really queasy tonight and the brown spotting has stopped altogether and it never made onto the pad, it was just from me checking it. So DH went and bought 2 different pregnancy tests. I had peed right before he left and he was only gone about 20 minutes. I took the first test (a + - EPT) about 15 minutes after he came home (I HAD too pee!). So immediately the negative line shows up but then right away so does a verrry thin vertical line to show a positive. It''s not straight down the middle but slightly to the left. I wish DH had gotten the 2 vertical lines test or even a digital one but oh well...

So I don''t know if this a faint positive or a flukey test? For those who got faint positives, what did they look like? When I look at this test, I can very clearly see the positive line, it''s just really thin. I would take a picture but my mom is borrowing our camera.

I plan on waiting till morning to take another test, unless AF actually shows up and it''s not just spotting... although I am cramping tonight a little bit and it does feel like period cramps. Keep in mind, when I saw the brown spotting this morning, I figured AF was here and totally stop obessessing over symptoms that I have. Then came home hours later and saw that the spotting had stopped. After I took the test, I did check my CM and the brown spotting is now like small brown flakes in the CM.
33.gif

I have 1 EPT test left and Dh also got a ClearBlueEasy test, although it''s also a + or - one
20.gif

Thanks!

Lysser- What symptoms did your friend''s mom have? I''m so sorry but am glad to hear she''ll be ok!!

Feb,

If the line is very thin, and to the left, it could be an evap. Apparently, the blue dye tests are the worst when it comes to evaps. I had a thin-lined evap on a Target brand test the first time I thought I was pregnant, and ever since, I''ve only bought First Response Early Response (pink dye).

That being said, it could also be the real thing (!), but the only way to know for sure is to re-test in the morning. Good luck, gal!

Thanks Ebree! I thought evap lines were after the time limit? This line was in like 10 seconds of taking the test. I will definitely wait till morning to take another one!

I''ve been playing with FF and the cross hairs thing. What is the difference between when you have a solid red line and a dotted or dashed red line on the cross hairs?

I can''t find it defined in FF...

OMG, guys, I just found a pic of my prom date and I- circa 1997. Sweet lord. Oh, copious amounts of EWCM tonight, too!

EEEEEEEK------ sorry so huge!!

IMG00111.JPG

Hilarious, Amber. Paul had that same haircut in 1997 (glad I didn''t know him then). He still has his first driver''s license picture and I think he thinks it looked really good. I guess it did, for the time, but is so *not* him now. I call it his "Bud Bundy* do... Gosh, I love how fashion trends shift. Gives us something fun to laugh about...

Fisher, I know, it''s just almost sad, but also like, what the heck was I thinking? Ahhhh, the good ol'' days of the platform shoes- my date was 6''4" and I''m a lowly five feet only. Now, my shoes then were about 5 inches tall.

february2003, if the second line showed up really soon, that is not an evap line. The evap lines show up later after the test has dried out.

I dunno, your symptoms sound great to me! It is MUCH less common to get a false positive than a false negative. Definitely try out some other test brands. I like First Response and ClearBlueEasy. GOOD LUCK!!

Feb, I think you need to PO some better sticks!

I''m really hoping for you. Let us know asap!

Anyone else in the first week of knitting yet? I''m on 4DPO....

keeping my fingers crossed for you feb, but a line is a line within the time limits and a 10 sec evap line is unheard of....i hope you''ll be joining the may babies

Feb - It wasn''t my friend''s mom that got sick, it is my friend! She''s a super healthy, 32 year old woman! Kinda crazy. But her symptoms really mimicked bad heartburn. She was having some pain when she was breathing, she wasn''t hungry and she just felt tired and ill. She went to TWO doctors both of whom told her she had heartburn and summarily dismissed her. Luckily, she listened to her body and went to a third doctor who sent her to the ER. I think they are going to release her tonight. My poor pal.

Amber - GREAT picture!!!! I love it! GOOOOOO EWCM! (please read that as an enthusiastic go, not goo)

Fish - The dotted lines mean that you had something happen after ovulation that could be a sign of ovulation. I O''d on CD 17, but when I put in the fact that I was having all that watery CM last week, it changed my line from solid to dotted - because watery CM can be a sign of ovulation.

Feb - I agree with Pandora. Get thee some digis!

Babydust to all the knitters!!!

Feb, sounds like your pregnant to me. A line is a line is a line. I predict you are a JERKSTORE!!! Get a digital. Go on! You know you want to.

Amber, I''m loving that picture so much, you have no idea. CAn I just say that despite the 90''s action in the hair department, you look completely beautiful in that picture.

Fishy, LL is right, a solid line means "FF is pretty sure you ovulated on Day X", and a dotted line means "Pending further data, FF thinks you might have ovulated on Day X". So, solid line = pretty sure, dotted = possible.

Ooh, Feb, I''m keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! Did you compare your positive to the ones on peeonastick.com?
