Mirai is adorable!
That young lady has a bright future ahead of her. Can you believe she`s only 16!

I know! She did a great job and was soooo cute!!

Love how Kim was wearing blingy crown-shaped earrings since she's nicknamed Queen Yuna.

I''m sad the figure skating is over! I was so amazed at Mirai''s performance! She is so graceful and poised, especially for a 16-year-old. Poor Mao, though. She just looked totally defeated in the medals ceremony. Yu-Na did an unbelievable job--she absolutely deserved that gold medal.

I am excited to watch the women''s slalom. I used to ski race with Lindsay Vonn (she was Lindsay Kildow then!), and it''s so much fun to watch her.

I don''t have much understanding of the scoring, but I thought Rachael skated beautifully. There seemed genuine surprise and displeasure at her score.
Very low score IMO! I would really like to know where the 8 points of deductions were taken.

Can I just say how incredibly graceful Yu-Na is! Just WOW!

ETA: Just saw her score...

Yu-Na just killed it. What a graceful and elegant performance!

Canada, you have quite a woman there. Congratulations! It tore me up when they panned to her father. The mixed emotions they are under right now is simply unimagineable.

Yu Na was AMAZING. BF and I watched last night, and she blew us away. This is the only event I''ve watched this year, and I''m glad I caught it.

there was so much great skating going on last night!!!!! YuNa was awesome, but Mao, Joannie, Mirai, and Rachael Flatt all skated wonderfully. A great competition!!!

I just watched the ladies skate! What a competition. Mirai has my heart...
30.gif
I''ve had my eye on her for quite a while now. She has such gorgeous lines. She is going to be a force!

Yu Na was lovely, Mao and her impressive triple axels, and Joannie''s gutting it out. It has really been a remarkable games for figure skating.

So excited that our hockey men made it to the gold medal game. Rematch, Canadians??

(And I''d be honored if you would consider me an honorary Canadian

It ain''t no fun over here without an Icekid

At the end of the 1st period, I just want to say well done to the Canadian ladies curling team for a valiant fight into the silver medal position and Congratulations to Sweden for successfully defending their title.

Brian won the Olympic silver medal twice. Anyone remember the ''Battle of the Brians''? Am really happy for him and Kim.

Mao looked so sad at her score.

Go Joannie!
Ho yes! Unforgettable!

I love watching the choreography at the start of a bobsled run! Can you imagine the practice that goes into getting that start just perfect?

Short Track - Men's 5000m Relay finals :

Oh how cool! Where was that... Vail? Or is Vail just where they live now?

I ran some NASTAR gates in Vail a few years back. Got a silver. Not much in the way of ski racing for me in MD though.

You mean Canadian, right? The last I checked, the Olympics are a national sport.

I checked the medals this morning and Canada have taken over the 3rd slot with 21. Germany are in second place with 27 and the US leads (go KitIce!) with 34.

But guess who leads with the gold medals? Yup, you''ve got it, CANADA with 10!!!

Go team Canada!!

Can anyone find me a link to videos of the ice skating performances? I can't seem to find anything but interviews and clips. I'm looking forward to the performances this evening, now that the pressure is off. I just want to say that I
emlove.gif
Apollo Ohno and think his DQ was questionable. The skater that won the gold did something similar to the second place skater and the judge had no problem with that

Here you go Marian: CTV olympic coverage

I have no idea if the video clips are viewable outside of Canada. The link from NBC that Treefrog posted earlier didn't work for me.

It would be interesting to hear back from you as to whether or not you are able to watch them.

Thanks for trying. I couldn''t get the videos to play

Ohno should file a formal complaint if he truly thinks his DQ was based on favoritism. ETA

Marian- I agree; it seemed a little insane. But then again, short track IS pretty insane. You''re allowed to bump/push etc. But if your competitor is not strong enough to stay on their feet, you get disqualified. Hamelin did the same to Ohno (who stayed on his feet) in an earlier race and was not called. It''s much like skating; judged my humans who are quite fallible! Still, Apolo has had a remarkable career if he decides it is time to retire.

I did not know Quebec was fielding its own Olympic team these days
