The reason there aren''t any Canadian men is because this season was cast LONG before Jillian was named ''Bachelorette'' ... she was THIRD choice, behind Molly & Melissa. The producers thought they were casting for Molly up until Jason changed his mind at the After The Final Rose special. Jillian was only selected a week or two before filming began. After Melissa turned them down.

I heard this, but I don''t quite understand how the timing lines up? I''ve been hearing for AGES about how Melissa would be on Dancing With the Stars... which began awhile before taping of The Bachelorette started (as I understand it).

I frequent a certain (delightfully snarky) television-oriented website and my recollection is that, as soon as The Bachelor ended, it was all but confirmed that Jillian would be the next Bachelorette.

Its confusing because The Bachelorette has been filming since the week after the "After The Final Rose" aired -- its been filming at the same time Melissa has been on Dancing With The Stars. Melissa turned down Bachelorette only a week or so before getting stunt cast on DWTS. Before that MOLLY decided not to do it when Jason wanted to "try again" or whatever BS he fed her.

It takes MONTHS to cast these shows BEFORE they start filming. They cast without regard to the person really. They were casting for The Bachelorette long before the Bachelor had "finished" -- filming OR airing. That''s my understanding anyway.

Bachelorette is almost entirely cast with men
Bachelor finishes shooting
Molly loses ... is asked to do Bachelorette
Jason changes mind .. dumps Melissa, wants Molly
Molly dumps Bachlorette
Melissa is asked -- says NO!
Jillian is asked -- says YES!
Bachelorette starts filming almost immediately
Melissa is asked to do DWTS as a last minute replacement for injured celeb -- even her costume doesn''t fit right because it was meant for that Access Hollywood chick. She had less than a day''s notice & only four hours of practice before the first show. You can see the costume doesn''t fit in the "beauty" shots at the top of the show.

The whole thing is a SHAM people. They''re not casting for "love" ... Eharmony would take more care in selecting dates.

Oh yeah - when he kissed her, right? I actually went "Wow!" That was SO great! They seem to really have a spark...... He seems really cool and nice..... the rest of the guys are a bunch of meatheads...... I couldn''t watch the Two Stooges in the Mini race (foot man and breakdancer) They were making me crazy.......

Foot guy- HAS GOT TO GO!

I really thought he was going to lean over and kiss her toes. It looked like he wanted to.
Jake- I have nicknamed him "Dimples" and think that he will end up being too nice for her, but will be around a while.
Juan- I'm sorry but his cheesefest at the end of the show when they were talking was weird. He used the phrase "It's just been so hard for me in the house" like 4 times in their conversation, and the way he was talking was so awkward.
Dave/David?- I think he is going to be asked to leave for the amount of verbal threats he has given out. Every season there is a person that cares way to much about the other people in the house, but this guy is going to get voilent.

I'm sorry, but does anyone else think that ALOT of these guys are lame? I'm not really attracted to "the perfect body" that all of these guys seem to live by, and it really bothers me that they have their shirts off ALL THE TIME. I also feel like Jillian is a little too focused on body image. I understand being sexual, trust me, but for that to be a comment on every single guy, is a bit odd to me.

Maybe it's just me, but it also bothers me that she has made out with almost every guy so far. I mean, it's been one week, and SHE is the one (except for Jake) that has initiated the kissing. She seems to be the one that is leaning in first, if that makes sense. You can tell who she's keeping based on "how far" she goes with them each round. Did anyone else catch the camera pan to the messy bed the morning after her and Jake's date, and then the comment "After a wonderful evening with Jake *pans to bed*, it's off on a group date...? I know that could just be editing, but even for all the kissing, it's only been a week.

Yes, I agree with you; I posted earlier I thought they were dorks. Some seem really immature to me but then again maybe they are told to act this way???

I really like Jake. He seems to be the only guy left I have any desire to "root" for, and it's not just because he's local. He looks like he's a lot of fun, and seems pretty sincere.

The rest of the guys are pretty crap . . . I did like Juan early in the last episode, but he went all creepy at the end of that show, and especially this week, Dave has an anger management issue, and Tanner P - it sort of skeeves me out that he's from Dallas. I'm pretty over his fascination with feet. Please, Jillian - dump him already!

The teaser last week seemed to allude to the fact that Jake may have a GF already, so we'll see.

... I meant more along the lines that quite a few of these guys are "gym rats". It's obvious the ones that aren't lacking in the ego department.

Just wanted to throw this out there about the whole wet pavement-gorgeous dress thing (forgive me if someone has already said it in the 4 pages of this thread)- I learned through watching one of the Making the Band episodes on MTV a few years ago that when they are filming stuff at night they wet the pavement for better filming. If you think about it pretty much all of the past Bachelor/Bachelorette seasons have premiered with wet pavement since they do it at night. Still tragic to have her walking around with a damp train though. They should have done something about that or chosen a color of gown that wouldn''t show the water stains.

haha! mere you crack me up! I ditto that one though!

I always tend to know who I "don't" like before I know who I "do" like. So on that note, I can't stand Wes. Who does he think he is? I mean literally, he isn't all that great looking and his voice isn't very good either. I believe the guys that he's only there to further his career. I'm surprised Jill can't pick up on that. It's something I would notice right away! Also, it really irritated me when he had to come up and interrupt her at the rose ceremony. She was talking to some guy (don't knw his name yet because I think it's the first time we've really seen him) and here comes Wes and has to butt in like an a$$ hole. He already had a rose! What a world class jerk.

And yeah Tanner P AKA foot guy is just flat out sickening. Plus, she now knows he has a foot fettish as he so grandly admitted and she STILL wants to keep him around. Did ya notice that's all he talks about? What a freak!

I'm GLAD she got rid of (jumping naked in the pool) guy. I realize some girls might like stuff like that but I guarantee you, if I were her and he did that, I'd get rid of him ASAP because that's just uncalled for behavior. Especially with all the guys and cameras around. What a fool he was.

I've also decided I DO NOT LIKE JUAN. He is pretty cocky and I also get the feeling he isn't sincere with the things that he says to Jill. It almost seems fake. I wonder if he's the one who's got the girlfriend or is married. Something is fishy about him and he's next on my list to leave the house!

And David (AKA The Rock look-a-like) has got quite a mouth on him and he really thinks he's something else too. He's either gotta cool his jets or he can leave for all I care.

Jake is thus far my favorite guy. He really seems like a respectable man (more my type anyway!) Although I found it a little strange when he hurried up and kissed her when she was talking. It was cute but also a strange moment for a kiss. Reminded me of a little boy...ha!

Not sure about the rest of them yet!

I completely agree. I was just thinking yesterday about how I'm not really into the "buff" guy who is all ripped with washboard abs. I don't know, it just doesn't "turn me on" and I couldn't help but think that when Jill made her 9,000th comment about that kind of stuff. I mean....it's nice and all. But it's not the be all, end all. I just like a healthy body. But again, I guess I miss the part where women get hot and bothered buy a ripped guy...

I agree with this point too! I'm sorry, but I just wouldn't go kissing a ton of guys like that let alone one guy. She just MET THEM! It just is strange to me because to me, a kiss is about love and passion. She kisses these guys like left and right as if its shaking hands...

It almost takes away the meaning of a kiss if you ask me...I wonder if she will jump on Chris Harrison at the next rose ceremony and start making out with him too? ha!

Pilot Jake seems really genuine so far.

I KNEW Tanner wanted to put her feet in and around his mouth. UGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

FREAK!! I think she's is keeping him around because she secretly LOVES that he is obsessed with her. She giggles everytime he makes a disgusting motion to lick her toes. She actually likes it.

This show is all over weird. Too much kissing. Too many guys missing clothing. TOO MANY EGOS.

Ohh, and I think that Juan might be gay. Did any one catch when he was talkign with her, and he noticed that he was flapping his wrist all over the place, and then made a joke about, "Ohh, I don't know why I was doing that!"

ETA: I still think that she is way to focused on sexual/physical attraction. It is literally the first thing out of her mouth whenever she is explaining, to the camera, why she likes someone.
I think that physical attraction is what draws you to someone, but I don't feel like any of her conversations with these guys are very deep. I was suprised that after an entire day with Sasha, when they were headed to dinner, she made a comment about finally getting to ask him some serious questions and "really talk". What the heck have you been talking about all day?? I don't get it.

- David is a ticking time bomb! I can''t believe she kept him around. Jill...ya want a guy that you will probably argue with all the time??

I agree that this season is kind of boring. And, does Jillian seem *really* young to anyone else when she talks about what she wants in a man? Her criteria sound like the things we wanted when we were in high school--he must have had his heart broken so he knows what it feels like? Seriously? I can''t remember the other things she had on her list, but they made her sound emotionally immature.

AND, she sent Sasha home?! He seemed like one of the more genuine guys there. I think her picker is off, to be honest. (She also isn''t very discriminating--how many men has she kissed already?)

Jillian is an extremely likable lady, but I think she needs an intervention when it comes to weeding out the men. I wish they''d bring a good friend of hers into the show to offer her some honest feedback.

I think David is going to hurt someone before he''s sent home. Juan is really calculated, but I admire how he remains cool under pressure. Wes doesn''t bother me, but I wish he''d write another song, already. Tanner-foot-fetish is just too bizarre for words--I get it that you have a fetish, but can you turn it down for bit, at least at first?

Ed, Kiptyn, Reid, Jake, they all seem nice. I wish she''d have a genuine conversation with them so we could see more. I LOVE Michael the break dancer, his personality is awesome. I would totally be drawn to him. He looks like Ace Ventura, no?

DH normally watches these shows with me, but this one isn''t holding his attention. He watched enough of the last episode to get up in disgust and say "This girl needs to grow up." He hates the way she speaks, too, so he can''t handle watching too long. I think she seems sweet.

YES!! I was wondering what it was, but something seemed a bit off. Also, she has seems to me a bit tipsy at times...a little buzzed maybe? After cocktail hour? Seems like when she is talking to Chris her eyes look like she is buzzed and she is slurring just a tad. Maybe it is just me!

But, yeah, I also agree her picker is waaaaayyy off!

There are quite a few..well...not too many "keepers" lets just say!
I guess it only takes one..JAKE!! He''s still my favourite!
I was surpised she sent Sasha home too..I wouldn''t have sent HIM away!! lol
Tanner is pretty much a FREAK!! My husband couldn''t believe there are people out there in the world, that obsessed with feet! He truly felt sorry for the guy and his odd behaviour!

i dont find her that attractive, i find her a bit dumb, and her voice irritating. i liked her MUCH more in ''the bachelor''. now she just seems like a bit of an air head who kisses everyone and is looking for a hot guy. and i think sending home a guy (sasha) because he''s looking for the perfect woman is insane - i mean - what''s SHE looking for? Mr Near-Enough??

i love jake - i just hope he doesnt end up with her; waste of a good guy. i suspect she''ll pick kypton - and i think he''d suit her pretty well.

but one thing we know for sure; no matter who she picks, it won''t work out, so why bother, really...

I also liked her a lot more during the Bachelor. It annoys me so much how all the conversations seem to be about nothing. I couldn''t help thinking about all the things I would want to ask these guys.

Am I the only one who thinks David might have a drinking problem? I only sporadically watched the first hour, but what was with his "huge problem" with Juan faking taking a shot? He seems to be the one that Jill really needs to see his "true colors."

Wes defintiely seems to me like he only wants to promote his career.

So did you all see the preview that apparently someone tells her 3 guys have girlfriends? Any guesses as to who might?

Never really gave it much thought, until I see it posted here. It can''t be a serious relationship (the girlfriend) if he''s appearing on the show right?
I do know it''s Jake though..I never heard anything about the other two men having girlfriends..whomever posted that, are you sure it was three and not just one? Hmmmmmm. Have to go some investigating perhaps!

I missed the last half hour so I didn''t see who she cut but yeah, this chick is an air head if I ever saw one....... it just makes me laugh when these people on these sorts of shows (men AND women) seem SO impressed by ONE comment someone makes, that it totally colours their impression of them to the point that they think they know what they''re REALLY like, you know? (ONE comment? Seriously?) "Oh, they said they want to be with someone who''s their BEST FRIEND. That''s what I want too! Oh my god we are SO made for each other!!!" Then they''ll conveniently ignore all the other behaviour that proves the person to be a total @ss (like Juan obviously is). She really seems to be doing that with these guys.......

Oh, and if she says something is "crazy" one more time I''m going to scream....... "we went in this car and it was just CRAZY!"

Whitbey - did you watch the first Bachelorette? With Tristan and Ryan? (was that the first one? Or the second? Anyways.....) I was SO shocked when she picked him. I thought for SURE she would pick the other guy! I thought she was dumb for picking him...... he was so sucky with all his poetry and stuff....... LOL
