The reason there aren''t any Canadian men is because this season was cast LONG before Jillian was named ''Bachelorette'' ... she was THIRD choice, behind Molly & Melissa. The producers thought they were casting for Molly up until Jason changed his mind at the After The Final Rose special. Jillian was only selected a week or two before filming began. After Melissa turned them down.

I heard this, but I don''t quite understand how the timing lines up? I''ve been hearing for AGES about how Melissa would be on Dancing With the Stars... which began awhile before taping of The Bachelorette started (as I understand it).

I frequent a certain (delightfully snarky) television-oriented website and my recollection is that, as soon as The Bachelor ended, it was all but confirmed that Jillian would be the next Bachelorette.

But who knows! I didn''t see many appealing guys in that crowd, but I''d feel the same way if Melissa had been the Bachelorette as well

I'm all disappointed--I found The Bachelorette online and watched it specifically because I saw this thread and was all like, 'oh yay' then came on here to see what everyone else thought, and it's all blah blah blah Canada blah blee Beau bluh MonkeyPie bluh blee bluh blah! PEOPLE, THERE WERE 30 MEN ON THE TV AND ALL OF THEM WERE EMPLOYED! So for the REAL issue here...was nobody else kind of APPALLED that Jillian was walking around in that gorgeous dress outside on wet pavement? The back of it was totally soaked!

I think Juan's shady. Something about him is the nastiness, and I think he'll wind up having an ugly side. I'm not super duper crazy about any of them, honestly, but so far, David (first impression guy) and Jake are standing out moreso than the others. Oh, and the foot fetish guy IS still in it, unfortunately. I'm really funny about feet, too, but he was just ridiculous!

Not going to lie... we had our regular girls night for Bachelor/Bachelorette shows, and watched all of about 30 minutes. It was SOOOOOO boring. Only looking up randomly for the awkward comment about how an womans high arch "Can make you love a girl, oooooohhhhh, sooooo much more."

We did comment that last season we really didn't start watching until the second or third show. There are just too many people at this point, and everyong is so awkward in front of the camera.

However, doodle, I totally noticed the wetness AND even stopped TIVO to go back and zoom in. Not only was it disgusting because of the dirt and mud mixture, but the moisture was creeping up the back of the train as the show went on. I mean REALLY?!?!

What is funny to me, is if you campare the first night of 30 girls and the first night of 30 guys, it is totally different. All the girls mingle around sizing eachother up. All the guys start doing stupid crap to make themselves look more macho to the other guys. Did anyone see the guy at the end kicking the bottle off the other guys head. Seriously, men are stone age. lol.

ETA: I didn't think the guys were overly attractive, however, I'm one of those weirdos that seems to think guys get hotter based on their personality.

Also, if I were Jillian I would be alittle hurt that there weren't any guys from Canada. She is a huge family girl, and that would weigh on my mind deeply.

I couldn''t agree more! On top of that, first impressions (unless they''re extreme) rarely last once you get to know their personality. In fact, in the last Bachelorette, the guys I rooted for in the first few episodes dwindled away and I ended up rooting for Jason(

whyohwhy?) when I finally noticed him maybe 4 episodes in.


doodle, where did you find it online? I usually go to youtube our tvshack to catch up on shows as I''m tivo- (or dvr in Canada) deprived...

I KNOW!!!! I was like, why did the producers of the show hose down the tile??? Or let her wear a long dress like that if they knew it was going to be wet! Poor thing. I looooooved that dress on her but it just looked so yucky after 5 minutes of dragging on the ground.

Yes foot fetish guy was a freak. I think she''ll figure that out in due time.

I wish you started the Bachelorette thread, because you aren't "Beau", but said the same things, it might have stayed a decent thread about the Bachelorette, and not turned into such a trainwreck !

I joined a Facebook group, and from what I read, ALOT of people feel the same way, and have made the same comments ("maybe all the Canadian men were taken", and "disappointed there were no Canadian men", ). This has nothing to do with Canada vs. US, Jillian is Canadian, so this makes it more about her and her roots, in my opinion. There are alot more Canadian viewers this season and they all seem to have some strong opinions as to why there was not at least ONE Canadian for her in the mix. When I find a little more time (after dealing with the loss of a parent), I will read through the blogs to see what others thoughts are on this issue. I read that a few people didn't think she should have sent Kyle home (strange dude in the leather jacket), because he has "personality", and that the others are rather boring.

Well, my opinion, FWIW is that if I were to judge solely by this thread is that Beau hasn't said anything offensive before MP posted her statement. And it seems to me that people are baiting Beau with 'jokes.'

Thank you TG, glad to see someone who can see it for what it is! I have said nothing offensive, and the "baiting" is normal from a select few, who I really wish would just stay away from my threads/posts, and not respond at all (unfortunately I can't list names, but BOY do I hate seeing a few screen names pop up in my posts. It's too bad there isn't a feature that allows you to block these members! Life would be good...GREAT! I couldn't care less what those "select few" members have to say here on PS, and don't waste my time reading up on them, I wish they'd do the same when they see a thread I have started!

I just re-read everything and noticed that about FIVE of us have commented on this now. LOL. This is pretty funny. We're watching a show about a woman looking for love with all these guys and WE'RE all obsessing on the fact that her dress is getting ruined. I COULDN'T STOP STARING AT IT!

One more thing about Canada (oh-oh will I get in trouble for this?) I'm in Vancouver, born and raised. Early 40's. Um, for the most part, the men here do NOT want to get married until they are READY READY READY! And that means mid-thirties at the EARLIEST. It's SO hard to find men to DATE let alone steady relationship let alone MARRIAGE! They just want to "hang out" with no commitment...... I am AMAZED at all the men lining up on these shows. It blows me away.

"Hitched or Ditched" starts next week..... THAT one could be interesting...... I believe it is about couples who have been together for a while and have to decide whether to get married or break up. Hmmmm - that sounds vaguely familiar...... oh yeah, MY life...... also "Big Brother" in July I guess (although a lot of people don''t like that show - I admit I find it hard to watch now) Oh, and hey "Wipeout" is actually kind of fun! Okay, I finally watched it and here are my thoughts. First off I like how humble see seems to be. She made a point saying she thought she was cute but knows she is no model (or something like that). She does just seem like a normal girl. That being said I would never assume she has a thriving business. She may but I cannot help but remember how they billed Jason as this successful businessman when it turns out he sells cell phones. I think the show will spin people anyway they want to get ratings. Also see seems to really want to be in love and I have no doubt will move anywhere to make that happen. I guess it is a shame they didn''t chose any Canadians but like someone else said she was their #3 choice but that''s just the way it is. Overall it was a tad boring and it always shocks me anyone would get teary eyed when getting rejected after an hour or two.

Thanks Haven, I know you've noticed it before, (and a few others have contacted me outside of PS to tell me they noticed it too), and I thank you for your thoughts on the matter. As for those select few who continue to take every opportunity to twist my words, over analyze every word, and attack, it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm not here to make friends! It's their little problem , not mine. I'm not one that's easily intimidated (I'm not going anywhere,as you can see), and words don't scare me!

It's just a shame that anytime I start a thread, or even post in one, it gets WAAAAY off topic quickly! I can tell you EXACTLY who will stop by everytime, to hijack the thread and turn it into a trainwreck! (it's too bad I can't mention names). I want to talk about The Bachelorette, lets not waste any more time or energy on those who AREN'T here to discuss the show ..shall we? Half an hour to showtime! Juan seemed kind of feminine too me. I can see why the guys aren''t very fond of him although I missed all of the little things Dave kept flipping out over....

My favourite so far is Kiptyn because I don''t think I''d be able to recognize or remember any of the other guys (with the exception of the short break dancer!).
