Tell me about your Ideal/Super Ideal diamonds

You have good questions. I also asked them which one was livelier, which one they liked. Is one more sparkly? Does one have more fire?

Entering into analysis paralysis. :read:

I was comparing the ASET image that is on the website vs the ASET image on the AGS report, and notice that one shows leakage (gray) around the girdle, but the other on the website is just less light return (darker green color). I’ve circled what I am talking about & noted which image is which.

So which one is more likely to be accurate? What does ‘leakage’ look like to the naked eye - little/no light return in that specific spot? Is some slight leakage around the girdle normal? If I were to have a semi-bezel type setting, would it *really* matter to the naked eye?

I am guessing it’s normal if the comparison ACA (ASET from it’s AGS cert is below) has a similar color pattern.

This is normal contrast pattern for a diamond

Thank you so much for weighing in! :wavey: I think I like the definition at the center more in the ES-K than what is shown on the ACA-J ASET - that one looks like the center would be more dark when looking straight on at it (if I’m reading it correctly with all the extra blue around the base of each arrow).

Again, analysis paralysis.

I'm a superideal convert to WF ACA's. My personal preference is for at least I color/VS clarity diamonds from WF. Here's an old pic of my ACA collection:

Such a beautiful collection! Do you mind if I use your specifications to semi-custom order a Tiffany setting with WF?

I have had the pleasure of seeing some top ideal cut H&A stones from ACA, GOG, BGD and CBI. All I can say is they are all beautiful !

Gorgeous ring, DF! Is the setting from WF?

You are free to ask WF to duplicate my semi-custom Tiffany repro setting--it has been used as a reference for several other PS'ers as well.:wavey:

Just a quick update - I spoke with the WF sales associate this afternoon, and she basically confirmed that the K-ES diamond really is a ‘needle in the haystack’ find, performance & value wise. That face-up, there’s no discernible color, performance, liveliness, fire, brilliance, etc., difference from the comparable J; only a slight color difference from the profile view; and that it performs to ACA standards visually, but was just a minor criterion off from getting ACA branding. Also, the ASET concern I had about that 8:00 green area is not visually discernible in normal viewing. Tomorrow, she’s going to compare it to a few other Ks to get an idea of whether it’s a high/low K, and provide me with more feedback on it overall. So, it’s looking like it may be a ‘winner winner chicken dinner’, but we’ll see for sure following a few other items when we talk tomorrow. :wavey:

That sounds very promising. I’ll be anxious to hear what they say tomorrow.

These last couple of days have been a bit crazy. My home is under renovation; both my DD & DH have been sick; work has been nuts; and we’re readying for a long weekend getaway to the beach tomorrow. But somehow in the midst of all of that, I’ve had a few back & forth emails and phone conversations with my WF SA (who has been so helpful, patient & utterly ab-fab to deal with) to address my questions, and we’re moving forward with the ES-K.

WF confirmed that the only criterion for it not making ACA was the fluoro. When I looked at the diamond’s specs against all of the ACA criteria noted on WF’s website, it is (otherwise) there. Since flourescence doesn’t put me off at all, and I’m not so much about the ‘branding’ as I am the performance & quality, I’m really happy to reap the benefit of the flouro’s impact on the price tag that will result in me having a great performing diamond at a size comparable to my existing OEC e-ring. It’s a few points smaller in ct weight, but about .3-.4mm bigger in spread.

It will be delivered Tuesday, and I cannot wait to see it in person. Hopefully the weekend getaway will help distract my anticipation a bit in the mean time. :shifty:

His exciting for you the Mother Thing. I am anxious for you to get it next week.

Weekend getaway - while awesome & very relaxing - did not fully take my mind off of the diamond. I did get the tracking info from WF this afternoon, and it has been picked up, so it’s in transit and should be in my hot little hands by tomorrow evening ... weather permitting, thank you bizarre mid-March snow in the mid-Atlantic! :wall:

Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll receive your beautiful diamond tomorrow. =)2

O.M.G. It arrived a little while ago, but I couldn’t open the package until a few mins ago. If THIS is a K, call me ecstatically happy with the K color! I actually had myself set up to open & find it super tinted for some reason and ready to send it back, which - given my OEC is an M - seems silly, knowing this is ideal cut and wouldn’t show the color as much as my OEC (which I am fine with). But daggone ... if you asked me what color this diamond is, I’d say it was a G.

And I almost hate to share these quick pics & video I took of it in the spring-ring because I know they show it having wayyyyy more color/tint than it actually appears to have in person. So in looking at these, don’t even pay attention to the diamond color/tint or think “blech K” b/c it is nowhere near this visibly tinted in person AT ALL. Especially outside, where I was underneath the tan cover over my patio - the camera really accentuates TF out of the color. Even my daughter - who does have eagle eyes and is color sensitive as heck - can’t see any discernible tint. Dare I say, I almost wish it showed a smidge more tint. :???:

And the performance, fire, alllll those things we love about diamonds ... it’s just truly a big bowl of awesomesauce & amazeballs, and further reiterates that (aside from my 3-stone), I really have not ever seen well-cut MRBs before. I’m going to play with it a little more this evening & tomorrow when I can really focus on how it looks, performs, etc., but I was too excited not to share, and my first impressions are - K.E.E.P.E.R!

And a little fluorescence action ... I’m not sure really how to get good fluoro shots, but I dig it! These were taken with the diamond in the WF gem case vs loose.

Gorgeous!!!!! :love::love::love:

It is beautiful - congratulations! Can't wait to see it set!

Thank you @ac117 & @MissGotRocks I am pretty excited, and will try to get some better pics in the morning. Early morning sunlight seems to be better & easier to snap bling pics at my home vs the afternoon/evening. I was waffling a bit on whether to do something like the split shank I was playing with in this thread, or just go with Sholdt’s semi-bezel that I lurrrrve. But after seeing the fire and light play in the pavilion of this diamond, I’m really leaning toward as open (yet secure) a gallery as possible so I can enjoy the pavilion view from all angles, and I really like the integrated four-prong split shank to achieve that. Gonna mull over the options with hubby tomorrow night and hopefully decide before the weekend so we can get the setting ball rolling.

Its beautiful!
I'm so happy for you!

Can I ask your ring size?
I think the size of your diamond on your finger looks so elegant.

Your band is lovely!

It is wonderful! Congrats on finding such an amazing diamond! I love the Sholdt semi bezel that Erica at LAD had as a personal ring. The profile of that setting shows all the diamond.

@december-fire Thank you so much! My finger size is a 7-7.25, and agree that 7mm (+/-) really is about my "Goldilocks" sweet spot.

@redwood66 Thank you! I have also loved the Sholdt semi-bezel since the first time I saw it on here (I think it was Audball’s OEC that really made me drool). I have seen a lot of other semi-bezels, and they are beautiful, but Sholdt seems to perfectly execute the curvature and sleekness that I really love.

I also want to thank @rockysalamander @diamondseeker2006 @cflutist @HappyNewLife @AdaBeta27 @m-2-b @marcy @Dancing Fire @ringo865 @gm89uk @SimoneDi and anyone else I may have missed who chimed in on this thread with so much helpful information, pictures & videos. This really started as a simple fact-finding mission, and I fully expected it’d be at least a few months until I would have the time to really search/take the plunge, if I even decided to. I also appreciate all of those other ‘K’ owners who posted so much info & pictures in the various ‘show me’ threads I scoured, as they were also very helpful! :wavey:

A few more morning shots. I love the pavilion fire, and how the arrows light up with vibrant colored rainbows (seen in the video).
That’ll probably do until it is set, dare I go into bling-overload mode. :mrgreen2: Thanks for letting me share! :wavey:

I am so glad you love your new stone!:appl: People vary so much in regard to color preference that it really is impossible to go by the opinions of others. You absolutely need to see it yourself!

Exactly!
This is only one of the many things I've learned on PS.
We each have our own colour preferences when it comes to the walls in our homes or the clothes in our wardrobe; not a question of one being 'better' than the other.

Thanks for sharing your ring size!
I love seeing the various diamond sizes, ring styles, etc., and it helps determine what I would prefer given my personal style and lifestyle.

Oh, no such thing as 'too many photos' on PS. ;)2

Thank you, and I couldn’t agree more. I can certainly appreciate that how/what I appreciate in a lower color is the same as someone else’s appreciation how/why for a higher color ... like @december-fire said about paint colors & clothes. We all just love what we love.

Happy to oblige ... both the ring size info & pics.

Last one that I forgot to attach but was cool so thought I’d share it.

it's gorgeous! I totally know what you mean. My "I" ACA has a bad habit of looking more tinted in photos than to my eyes. Must be a reflection of my phone case (gold)?
