Take Two on Engagement Ring

I paid $5k three years ago for an engagement ring from BlueNile:

.9 Carat
Round
VG Cut
F Color
VVS2 Clarity

The marriage did not happen, and BlueNile does not accept returns this long out. But they do offer 100% credit for the return if you buy a ring that costs 2x.

I'm okay with spending more, but I don't know if the credit is a prudent exchange. I'm very satisfied with the purchases I've made from BlueNile (I've picked up a few necklaces, earrings, etc.)

So three questions, really:
1) Price-wise, is doing the exchange something that makes sense versus selling the diamond myself?
2) I like something with at least the same standards as above but 1.3 carat. And suggestions from BlueNile?
3) I looked into the lab-grown diamonds and they don't seem to be much cheaper. What gives?

Since 2x for you isn't crazy, I would use their upgrade program. I bought mine from BN and could not because 2x would have been waaaaaaay out of my price range.

Some others can post parameters for you to do you own research on BN just using the GIA certs.

You would be lucky to get 70% of your original cost if you were to sell on your own.
