And yes, I think the voters got it right too, but I was really sad to see the male dancer leave...

ETA: Actually both of them, but I thought he did exceptionally well in last night's show (at least in the second routine), where as the female...not so much. I thought she really dropped the ball. Loved her the rest of the season though.

After seeing the 4 repeat performances from last season again last night, I think last season was DEFINITELY better. I wasn''t sure if it was just the nostalgia factor, like we''ve discussed, but those 4 dances were above and beyond anything we''ve seen so far this season.

Not sure if it''s the choreography or the dancers, but I suspect it''s both. We definitely haven''t really seen that level of choreography this season (IMO), but perhaps maybe we have and it''s just the dancers haven''t elevated it.

LOVED the door routine- is it just me or did Katee look amazingly gorgeous last night????

And the Bleeding Love routine had me in tears-it was so good.

And there were so many other dances besides those 4- think about the fact that NONE Of Joshua and Katee''s pairings was shown.

Was very happy last night with the show, PLUS love the Jabberwookies! (sp?)

Does anyone watch America''s Best Dance Crew? It''s so fun, starts on August 9th, so when SYTYCD is over, you can still get your dance fix in.

Also, why hasn''t there been any krunking or more hard-hitting hip hop this year? Just the Nappy Tabs R&B soft hip hop stuff- which I like as well, but I''ve missed the harder styles.

I''ll admit I was surprised to see Ade go home. The only reason I thought he *might* is because his powerful performances are similar to Brandon''s, so viewer''s who prefer that style are probably Brandon fans already. Evan is a great dancer, I just prefer Ade.

I agree with China that I think the choreography in previous seasons was better. I don''t think I''m as head over heels with some of the popular routines from last season as others (I never liked the Bleeding Love routine, but am not a Taboleon fan at all), though my favorite routine was Will and Katee''s Pas de Deux and that wasn''t shown (far superior to this season''s pas de deux, IMO). Anyway, there isn''t one routine this year that I love. I feel like I should like Mia''s addiction routine or Tasty Oreo''s breast cancer routine, but I just don''t. I think I''m still a little sad about the Janette going home.

I would have loved to see a Brandon/Ade routine in the final two! I am still excited for the final 4, though. I just think a Brandon/Kayla/Ade/Janette final four would have been perfect.

Finally caught myself up. It''s getting now to the point where I guess it''s sad to see anyone leave unless you just really don''t like them. I was definitely surprised though to see Evan get in the Finale insetad of Ade. (I do wish Ade would lose that stupid pick in his hair though.)

Last week was sad to see Janette go home - she was awesome. They''re all so good though, that it would have been hard to pick any girl to send home. I am kind of sad to see Melissa go home too, but I think she can easily go join a ballet somewhere. I doubt this show would do much more for her than she already may have been doing, except for publicity.

Brandon''s solo last week was awesome - wasn''t it the same one he did in the auditions? Either way, it was awesome. Really showed his strength, power, and grace.

This is my first season watching, so I really enjoyed getting to see the Bleeding Love routine. It''s so moving to see live like that vs. on youtube.

Well I decided to listen to Deco and watch not just the dances but the interviews with the dancers. And... admittedly it did make a difference for me. Ade made some really stupid and concieted coments, and well... the ballerina had, except for the cancer performance, been getting on my nerves for weeks so watching her interview did NOT help that.

I DID start to like Janine, and was okay with her moving on and Ballerina not.

Evan... well, Ade's personality and inconsistency and the hair pick= three strikes. Now Evan's only got one strike. He really can't dance unless it's in his own style (and this week in his own style I personally thought he blew it). But I guess as this is a popularity, not a dance, contest I can see why he moved on.

I DO hope that one of the ladies is America's top dancer or Brandon. And NOT Evan. He just doesn't DESERVE it.

Choreography's weakenesses were only HIGHLIGHTED by the performances from last season. Though I am glad they are keeping the Canadian Lady. I hope next season they really start hounding the choregraphers to do better and critiquing them.

I don''t think it''s fair to say he doesn''t deserve it. The non-dancing public looks for different things and I try to look at it from both sides. Personally, I don''t think he''s as bad as a lot of people make him out to be. As a vertically challenged person, I can tell you that makes a big difference. However, a Broadway dancer is by delineation a jazz dancer, whose foundation is ballet, and I personally see his technique.

And I still hate Bleeding Love. I think Chelsea is FABULOUS in ballroom, but hip hop is not her thing. I need to google and see if she was a cheerleader, if I get confirmation either way I can decide if my hate for the dance is justified or not.

Also, I love me some Katee, but I don''t understand what was Emmy worthy in the Mercy dance. Now, the Pas de Duex with Will, totally Emmy worthy.

Unless Kayla''s solo is mind blowing or one of the pieces left is mind blowing, I totally agree with you--her solo was REDONKULOUS. I feel bad for Evan. I don''t think it''s really fair to compare him to Brandon when their genres of dance are so different. He''s brilliant at what he does, but what he does is different from any other contestant they''ve had on the show. At this point, I love all four of ''em for different reasons, but I want to see a girl win since there''s only been one so far, haha! I''d be happy with any of the four remaining, though!

Lol... No. I believe he was a few years younger than me. I graduated in 99... I did know Ian. He was super nice and I remember him being in drama and all the plays and stuff! What year did you graduate? You actually might have known my little brother.

Hmmm, I''m a bit conflicted. I agree Jeanine rocked the house last night but I feel a little bad for Kayla. Between her and Jeanine, I think she got a bit shafted on choreography. The Paso Doble was undoubtedly better than the Jive, and the contemporary (or was it jazz) routine was better than the broadway (IMO). I can''t help but think that had the tables been turned perhaps it would have been Kayla in the spotlight. However, I also thought her solo was pretty bad so I could be wrong.

I think Evan got a little shafted too since the boy''s dance was clearly choreographed in a way that brandon would shine.

Sometimes its too bad that they are at the mercy of their choregraphers.

I''d really be fine with Brandon, Jeanine, or Kayla winning. I dont LOVE any of them so I don''t really have a favorite.

YAY!!! I love being right. Its a character flaw. Looked back to see when I called her win & I think it was 7/16. Not terribly long ago -- but it was in vast opposition to what most folks were saying & predicting at the time.

I love to predict winners! Wheeeeeeee. Of course I was wrong about Evan coming in 2nd & he came in 3rd.

Man, Dial Idol had me sweating though. They did predict a landslide Brandon win. And the show''s producers must have thought Brandon too as all the packages were centered around him & his Mia journey etc. Nothing about Jeanine. They barely had footage of her before Top 20. Funny!

Looking back at the season''s best dances I don''t think it was such a bad season dancewise. That Addiction routine looked better to me this time & the Heart Necklace routine & Mad Nappy Tabs and Disco and and ... Well I had to FF through Bollywood & Cancer Dance (for different reasons) but overall there were some great numbers this year. Jeanine was in two of my three faves this year. And I think she''s a swell winner. Finally, another girl!

Well, Freke, I''m with you on Jason (even after that great routine) ... but I think Jeannine has a *really* good chance to win this. She has a Kelly Clarkson quality that America just lurves. And, as great as the dancers are this year - there aren''t many ''stars''.

And, honestly, I think only Evan could beat her in the ''love with their whole hearts'' category that makes people dial like crazy. I haven''t been on the fan boards or anything but I don''t sense the worldwide Brandon-love that I did for Danny (even though I hated him). We''ll see I guess ...

Deco- I care!!!! I remembered you called it, very impressive.

I agree, there were some pretty decent dances this year- my faves were the addiction dance and the Jason/Janine one that Travis Wall did. I also liked the group Dmitry/Nappy Tabs dance much better this time around (the one with the water).

And after re-seeing the "butt" dance, ugh. I really disliked it. Not sure if was the routine itself or Randi, but it was super annoying watching it again.

I thought it was interesting that Nigel the other night basically admitted that the "best" dancer had never won- and he pretty much called out who he thought was the "best"- Travis Wall, Danny, and either Katee or Will. (I didn''t watch season 1, don''t remember who he said). And then he put Kayla in that category. I think he''s right, Kayla is arguably the best dancer in terms of form and ability. She really stood out in all of those group dances. BUT like Deco said, this is a popularity contest. And I think Janine was arguably almost as good as Kayla, but far outshone her in the performance/personality aspect. DH argued with me on this, he thinks Brandon by far was the "best" dancer. I can''t really argue with that, when I watch him, my jaw often drops.

So, for me, Brandon or Kayla was the best dancer. I think Brandon or Janine was the best/favorite dancer when you factor in personality. I was happy to see Janine win, cause she''s a girl, and she really got better as the season went on. She killed her repeat dance with Phillip last night, amazing what some confidence will do!

As for Evan- I feel like I always end up bashing him on this thread, and I really don''t mean to be the mean Evan hater. I liked Evan, but I just don''t believe that you should win a dance competition based on sweetness alone. It''s about dancing.

Whoever said earlier that he has worked really hard, well, that''s definitely something to admire, and I do think that if one is maybe not the best technical dancer, but has worked hard and ends up outperforming a dancer that simply has great natural ability, that is something to factor in. But I can''t argue that the remaining three hadn''t worked just as hard to end up in the final four, they all were clearly working their butts off.

As for the dances being skewed towards Brandon- well, that may be true. BUT on the other hand, if you are to win a DANCE show, you should be able to shine and be the BEST in anything thrown at you by the finale show. Also, Brandon was put into Evan''s style (Tyce''s cool Broadway routine) and killed it. So to be fair, they each were in similar styles, and Evan did not outperform Brandon or Kayla or Janine at any point. Also, Evan was never really asked to do any hip hop or other more modern dance routines during the season. I think he had one with Randi, but it was such a soft R&B routine it may as well have been contemporary. So you could argue that the dances were skewed towards Evan all season. (And btw, how come Melissa NEVER had to do anything other than what she''s good at???)

Here''s the thing- I think Evan has great potential. I think he coasted on his style, his cuteness, and the judges sort of brushing off any real dance criticism at him by excusing it b/c he isn''t "tough or dirty or nasty" or whatever other types of dances call for. Until the finale show, interestingly, when Nigel and others finally challenged him to step it up. I wish the judges had encouraged that in the season, b/c I think Evan has it in him. And you can be "sweet" and still pull off those routines- remember dorky Benjy? He managed to kill some pretty tough hip-hop routines.

I think Nigel said it best, when he said that Evan hadn''t risen to the level that he had hoped. I agree, I really would have loved to see Evan grow more. And I hope that that is exactly what will happen in his dancing as a result of not winning.

Either way, fun finale show. Are we all watching Season 6, or is it too much too soon????

Yeah I''m in for Season 6 ... to say Evan''s brother is a *better* dancer is quite a tease. Am looking forward to seeing him and other "near miss" folks & the new crop.

Jeanine is only 18! I think this is the first year she even qualified? I can see her going into acting & stuff too ... She has star quality & likability you just can''t train for.

Deco- my due date is tomorrow, so I''m just glad I made it to see the finale! I will definitely try to watch Season 6- some of the clips of the auditions they showed this week looked amazing. I actually liked Evan''s brother a tiny bit better, so I am excited to see him. This may be what I watch when I am up in the middle of the night not sleeping!!!

Also, I am totally excited for America''s Best Dance Crew on MTV- starts Sunday! Loved seeing Hok and Dominik (sp?) last season, they were so fun to watch.

Janine is a total star, I can totally see her becoming an actress. She said something about auditioning on a whim, so I wonder what her plans were before. She''s got great presence and confidence for being only 18. Wow.
