Supreme Court just asked to block Wisconsin's Voter ID Law

Re: Supreme Court just asked to block Wisconsin's Voter ID L

Many do believe it is an issue of restricting voting rather than one of voter fraud.

The passport issue is that doesn't prove state residence. Military IDs were also excluded, but the law has since been changed to allow military IDs. That was a PR issue, I'm sure. Folks with physical limitations don't present as difficult a PR issue -- in public opinion. That's a another can of worms. I'm not saying it should be that way or that it's justified, it just is that way. Grrrrrrrrrr

I was looking for another, more neutral source to post a link -- but don't have time to look. This opinion article includes links to the actual text of the Posner dissent on voter ID laws, and also provides a little background on the man himself. Since it links to the actual text, perhaps it doesn't matter if the links come from a liberal or conservative rag. This was an outcrop of the decision to nix Wisconsin voter ID for the November election.

And, it appears, I might now be talking to myself . . . . . oh well.

No, there is at least one person here geeky enough to go out and read the whole thing. (I once read the entire MA AG's response to the Catholic sex abuse scandal in Boston, and the entire court case for the Dover ID case. I'm weird that way) So, I read the piece you linked AND downloaded the dissent. Will read when I get time.

Thanks for posting it! :)
