Hello Pricescopers!

I wanted to post about a disease I seem to have come down with over the past few years, I can't get step cut's out of my head! I just traded in several stones and upgraded to a larger H color VVs2 2.36 Ct Asscher and would be curious to see what folks on here think of it.

Originally I went to look at an F color vs2 2.49 Asscher with good specs, and also a G color 2.51 ct VVS2. The H color however, really outshone the G and F colors with it's cut. The steps flashed all the way across, middle really lit up, and the edge to edge light return just looked far and away better.

Normally I'm a bit color sensitive and was trading in smaller D E and F colored stones, but this H really spoke to me. I have seen a lot of Asscher threads recently, and have been watching the Good old Gold videos until my eyes cross, and I think this stone looks pretty good given how Asschers (generic) need to be seen in person and not (only) judged on specs.

I'll follow up and post my somewhat terrible pics next, though I have to say it is indeed very difficult to capture the stone in photos, I did my best.

GIA report # 1182475944 if you want to look at that as well.

I like it even without seeing its aset. But I'm a novice to step cut ;)2

It's beautiful! I can relate though it's so difficulty to capture an asschers beauty.. but keep trying and posting more photos ;)2

It looks like a beautiful asscher to me! And yes, they’re awfully hard to take photos of without professional cameras/lighting.

What are your plans for setting it?

Beautiful diamond. :wavey:

Thanks for all the positive comments!

I'll be picking it up set in a very simple basket pendant setting at the end of the week after a work trip. Will be sure to post follow up pics, maybe in the SMTB forum.

Wow. The nicest "generic" asscher I've probably ever seen.

Are you kidding?! That looks spectacular even in photos!!! What a pick! LOVE IT!! Big Congratulations!!!!

It looks gorgeous!!! I especially love the second picture :love::love:

Back from freezing nyc and picked up the set pendant and put it (totally low key) on my David Yurman chain and presto - check it out! Hard to take pics at night so I’ll take more tomorrow for the smtb forum but here are a few for now...

Looks great, excellent choice! :)

So beautiful. Just as simple and elegant as the diamond itself!:appl:

May I ask where did you find this stone? I’m in the hunt for an asscher too...

Sorry for the delay! I go to Derco at the Jewelry center here in San Francisco and work with John - he is v patient with me haha...

It is really an amazing gorgeous Asscher cut diamond, it is flashing like in life even its on picture!
It is right in the solitaire settings absolutely magnificent-congrats!

A fan of step cuts myself, however more for EC than Asscher cut in diamonds.

The stone looks sparkly and lively to my untrained eyes, and thanks for sharing.

Be still my heart! I LOVE it!
