Do any of you ladies wear statement rings as your ering ala Scarlett Johansson and her dinner ring? Do people refer to it as a cocktail ring ? Any suggestions for leaving out or adding elements to help distinguish and make it more engagementy ?
Our old babysitter is 27ish now and this is her ering—it’s a cluster ring with a double halo! Gigantic. Seems like a lot to keep track of to me, but she loves it.
There are no rules here @GMAC and it comes down to personal preference. Jewellery represents individuality and the sentiment that we place upon it. Here at Durham Rose we see engagement rings take on all forms and embrace the fact that everyone’s requirements are different.
Why not have some fun with it? Even back in the '80s and '90s, some of my co-workers set their engagement diamond in something bold or unusual or trendy or "wild" and wore it that way as an engagement ring while engaged. Then they reset it in a conventional solitaire or a wedding set semi-mount when they married. Why be constrained to "bridal jewelry" while still single? Sow those wild oats. (Engineers like to tinker with things, y'know... )
