I posted the muliticolour images of them on page 3 of this thread. They''re both 2 carat ovals from Tanzania. I''m also getting another spinel, but that''s coming in around 2 weeks. It''s supposedly a cobalt blue of 1.5 carats.

It should be really interesting to see which one of those you like better and how close the pictures are to the actual stones. Where is the cobalt blue one coming from?

When I get the cobalt, and if I like it, I'll reveal all.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how they look in person. Supposedly FedEx is dropping off the orange and pink stones before 10:30 AM tomorrow!!

Hi Chrono,

Sorry about not answering your earlier question. I really dont know where to get the sleepy mahenge material... I got mine from MC.com about two summers ago but they havent really had any new material of that nature since the "big strike"...perhaps you can check up on LadyDisdain''s source of rough... since she is the most recent person I am aware of who has obtained such a stone.

here are some more shots of the burma pink, it shifts color quite a bit from a deep pink to almost a salmon-pink... shot in diffuse daylight.

I LOVE that salmon pink color. Beautiful!! I don''t think I''ll ever find a good spinel I can afford.

The cobalt was too dark for my taste - I''m returning it, as I also returned the other Mahenge spinels this week. I''m turning more into "spinel_disliker." Seriously, there are very beautiful spinels, but I will wait to find the right one.

I think that your best bet would be a gem show, since you have a mental image of what you are looking for, I am sure your eyes will be able to easily pick something out that would please you, just a matter of holding out for the one meant for you. Can you imagine how FUN it would be if a bunch of us went to a gem show together?!? We''d all be bringing these little boxes of pretty around for reference and writing down prices and taking pics LOL. I know it would be a blast!

I just wanted to say I have recently contracted a serious disease called spinelenvy and it''s quite a serious condition.
TL - I do think you will find a good Spinel you can afford, I know you will. Would you find one for me too?
