Hello

I am looking for the best quality emerald I can buy within budget (also needs to be in the UK as the import duties are a killer).

I’ve found these three which are similar in style but different in price.

Cheapest - Colombian emerald but no details on treatment

The next expensive. No details on treatment for the emeralds but ‘likely columbian’

Most expensive. Confirmed Columbian and minor oil. However small - I would need to size up 3 sizes so might not be possible

Would appreciate views please. I can stretch to the last one if it’s the best.

Or any others anyone can find.

Thank you

Judging solely on the photos provided, I think the apparent quality of the emeralds in the first two rings are better than the third. The latter looks rather cloudy and a touch yellow for my tastes. But the type and level of treatment are important. That's something I would need to know. I like the style of the third ring best (and the fact that it's already confirmed Colombian and minor oil). That it's a bypass with pave on the band is going to make it very tricky to go up 3 sizes. Perhaps discuss that ahead of time with your local jeweler to get an idea of whether it's possible? I wouldn't want you to be stuck with a ring you can't resize. This is a fun verdant adventure! Enjoy!!

Do you look for a complete ring or stone?

Thank you for your help.

I will ask for the others if there is any knowledge of origin and treatment.

On the last one there is a video and also other photos. I am not sure the one I shared above is a great photo. Maybe this one is better.

The transparency looks a little better here, though I do still see a slight yellow modifier. However, emeralds are notorious for being unphotogenic (is that a word?), so this may not be the case in person. Have you seen a video? Do you like the cut? How does the color look?

Thank you so much for all your help @Autumn in New England
I do like this ring but not more than the other two.
I have no idea regarding how emeralds ‘should look’ if you know what I mean. I don’t want to make a mistake!

This is the video of the toi & moi

I have asked for details on the origin and treatment for the first two rings as well. I think they also have videos so let me see if I can link those.

@Daisys and Diamonds thank you for your encouragement and for joining the hunt!

Ok, so the color and clarity both look better in the video. This is a gorgeous ring, my friend. That OMC is  . I think it will come down to whether you can have this resized to fit (as I said, it's going to be tricky). Other than that, you also have certification of origin and treatment, which is great. If you like one of the other two rings better, perhaps inquire about obtaining a report to accompany it. Otherwise, I think it's just going to be a matter of taste. They're all lovely! :)

Thank you so much @Autumn in New England
I am enquiring about sizing. I think this is my favourite but also the highest price! Always the way!!

I also have a report on the first ring which I think doesn’t tell me much:

And the company selling the second ring have responded as below:

Our gemmologist has stated that the emeralds in this ring our likely of Colombian origin and of a well saturated medium green with good transparency. It is difficult to say for certain without a laboratory report but they do not appear to have had undergone any treatment when viewed under 10x magnification.

So I guess I could ask for a lab report if I want to go this route.

Thanks again for all your help - I will update once I have decided
