Somebody's gotta buy this stone, "If I won the lottery" edition

If I'm not mistaken, that would mean it sold for over $141,000/ct. A beautiful stone, for sure, but appears abraded and chipped a bit - what compelling provenance does it possess?!!

Kashmir no heat and large. But I agree that is a very aggressive price.

This 10.45ct in a Cartier setting is one of my favorite sapphires I've seen (some might find it too silky or dark though), and it sold some weeks ago for about 132k/ct., so141k/ct does seem high for a chipped 7.5ct.

I agree. I thought it was high, too, but I didn’t see the stone in person. I do think the quality plays an important part. Here’s a 9 carat that sold at Doyle yesterday at significantly less per carat. Very obvious zoning and much less saturation mCCDD4A05-9E3A-419D-9A37-6843B86AC841.png

While I am not really a fan of Argyle blue diamonds (or the Argyle brand altogether), this might be one of the most, or the most, impressive Argyle blue out there.
0.59ct GIA vivid blue. The pedigree is amazing if it is legit.

The attachment above is not working on my end, here it is again.

And I read later that a royal family consigned the stone. Someone knows the provenance.

Not just the stone, but this entire masterpiece!

@T L, there's no way that second one is a diamond?! And why does ArtPix Jewelry Visualizations sound like AI? And the hands look almost human!

Could be, I didn’t think it was AI, but maybe it is?

I usually don't like halos but this is so beautiful

Is it just me or does that ruby look a very uninspiring purplish red with very little 'life' in it?

1.56ct 'The Argyle Pheonix' red diamond. GIA 'Fancy Red', can't find the clarity, but I'd guess I1. Articles from 2013 said it sold at the Argyle tender for 2$m. The estimate is low, at 1-1.5m.

Very pretty, but I wouldn't bid on this even if I could. I just think this is an interesting lot worth sharing, and there is no where else to post this.

The Argyle marketing effort is very interesting to me. I don't think this would be up for auction if the owners weren't confident the iron is hottest right now. Curious what this will reach, and how it will compare to publicly shown retail pricing (which may not always reflect actual sale prices accurately). I suppose if someone really wants a 1+ct round-cut red, this is one of the only options.

Currently the 2 most expensive Argyle reds with public pricing on Leibish are:
1.32ct, I1 for 2.4m
0.77ct, SI1 for 1.7m
Hard to compare color nuances but those are purplish red and not red like the auction stone, with the smaller one appearing significantly purplish.

Here is a video, the photo attached is by GIA.

The above red diamond above sold for about 4.2 million.
In these images/videos it looks like a garnet unfortunately, but not surprising.
I lost the link but did take screenshots.

I'll take this instead for a fraction of the cost please. Must be one of the most gorgeous pinks I've seen.

Most of the time I enjoy looking at such pretties. I look at them, admire them and move on.

This is the one piece that makes me sad I cannot own it.

The entire Hemmerle IG page could be on this thread honestly. But that one in particular is a gorgeous sapphire and design.

@toomuchB I think pink sapphires and rubies are much prettier, but love something with a touch of pink.

Right???

I get bummed too. It's always the sapphires that push me into self pity.

Not lotto levels of expensive but I consider this more eye candy than a serious recommendation to purchase. So posting here instead of the 'somebodys gotta buy this stone' thread.

A superb 2ct v.chryso, I think I was quoted 20k when I inquired about it months ago.

Gorgeous gorgeous stone but that setting looks as uncomfortable as h*ll.

And I can just hear it now: "Honey, I think the blue part popped out again..."

Saaaaaa-WEET mother of all things blulicious!! Well, you may know I've just had an unhappy journey with a blue sapphire. If I decide to go a different route, I think this one should fit the bill, don't you agree?

(Where's the tongue hanging out emoji??!!)

Good lord....

I think you missed a '1', @Begonia. I'm thinking 18! Minimum!!

Does anyone know the price on it?

This is probably not very helpful but here are some Hemmerle rings with published prices.
Take into account the premium of buying direct from the brand, the unique setting compared to the ones below, or the specific qualities of the sapphire.
