It’s such a beautiful ring… I can see why. It never hurts to reach out to see if there is some wiggle room, or layaway. If you’ve never seen an I in person…. It’s truly a site to behold. Beautiful! I love it. IMO overpriced but the kind of overpriced that isn't bad enough that it would stop me from buying it if I really wanted it.

The seller estimates of clarity are very poor too. But Ive bought stones appraised at I1 that were much better before.

I wonder how confident people are these days buying secondhand jewelry with modern cut diamonds. The melee does look well cut--so well cut that I would wonder whether it might be lab. Which would then make me wonder about the rest of the piece.

Not saying it IS lab, just...at what point do you lose confidence in your ability to guess about jewelry based on photos?

I do think the big diamond there is probably natural because it's an old cut in a style that isn't widely cut in labs. But I would no longer trust myself to know if high quality MB cuts with arrow patterns are lab or natural.

Well the pawn shop has to at least do some work to tell before taking it in, but that's a really good point. I guess we just look for fluoro and inclusions and then hope for the best as laypeople. In this case the setting doesn't look modern, we'll say politely, which would make me feel better that they're natural. But you're totally right, it's scary! I think @nala was burned recently-ish by something a pawn shop said was natural but turned out to be lab?
