I am bringing this up now, because a woman at a company sales meeting was wearing a "discount shirt" that was almost 60% off! Every guy in the room, even the married old farts, wanted to sit with her at lunch break.

I would want to sit by her too. I bet she's a lot more fun to hang out with than others in the office.

Really? I don't care what people wear in most situations. You show off your cleavage at the mall or restaurants, I don't mind. Although I have been shocked by some outfits that I think no one should ever wear, anywhere. That is not my decision to make though =)

However, at work I would be offended. Most workplaces are not the appropriate place to be showing off your assets. I don't think you should wear overly tight, short, or low clothing at the office. It's not just "my" opinion, as every single company I have worked for has had rules about such inappropriate clothing. I would wonder why a person would choose to wear something like that to the office.

We don't know the whole story. The woman could be (believe it or not!) intelligent & funny. Just because she was showing off the girls, doesn't mean that's all she has to her. Is it fair to assume that she lacks all else beyond her physique? Could she have a great attitude and not be cranky? huh!

She could be smart or funny. I never implied otherwise. Nor did I assume she lacks all else beyond her physique...

If you're showing off the girls in most workplaces, you're doing yourself a disservice. Men might like to look (or hey, maybe they don't want to see it) but it's really not sending a professional message.

I wear a lot of lower-cut tops because I like how they look on me. However, I'm very petite and pretty flat-chested, so there's really no cleavage to speak of. A top that would look totally inappropriate on someone with C-cups looks much tamer and less revealing on me. I also think my collarbone area is a nice part of my figure, and I like wearing shirts that emphasize it.

I think the balance between looking too buttoned-up and stuffy and looking too exposed is tough to achieve for larger-chested women. In my office, we have to wear suits almost daily, and I think the larger-chested women look better with a slightly lower-cut shell or top under their suits as opposed to a button-down or turtleneck, both of which cause chests to look bigger.

As far as cleavage in the world in general, I guess I either don't notice it, or if I do, it doesn't bother me at all. Yes, sometimes I'm surprised at how revealing the wardrobe choices of high school girls are, but I look back at my mom's teenage photos from the late '60s to early 70s, and in comparison, my skirts and dresses were like Little House on the Prairie versus her super-short minidresses and sky-high platform heels.

A lot of men, when I was your daughters' ages, wouldn't have recognized my face -- because they never saw it. Their eyes never strayed above my chest -- including at work. No low-cut blouses here -- no cleavage to show in one (out of one?). The ethos was that we women should take it in stride: after all, boys will be boys! That steamed me so much, my head almost exploded. Talking business, you knew they didn't hear a word you said. Too busy thinking about your darned boobs. You were a thing (2 things, actually), not a person. Women fought hard for a long time to end that crap. Now their granddaughters bring it back. So you got boobs, big deal, so do all women! You really want to make them the first impression & what people remember about you? Then don't complain if you don't like the consequences.

Most objectionable: 1 - Anchorwomen showing cleavage, tacky & so obviously done for ratings. Degrades whatever they say. 2 - Low-cut wedding dresses. Your wedding is not the occasion to advertise that you're hot. Save that for a nighclub.

My wedding dress will be low cut and I am definitely not advertising that I'm hot. The neckline is not going down to my bellybutton, but either way it has nothing to do with me advertising that I'm hot. I like the way it looks.

This thread is so amusing. DF must be totally disappointed.

I think I've just become desensitized to the cleavage. I think a little bit of it can be tasteful, but if it's something that looks like you're going to a nightclub, rather than an office/classroom, that's when I go :nono:

I just tried on a shirt that I wore a few years ago, and I couldn't believe how much cleavage it shows. My taste has obviously changed a lot. :)

I think that I used to wear lower-cut shirts because I was insecure. I thought that it would make me look attractive, and I never realized that it wasn't attracting the right type of attention.

I'm definitely glad that I don't feel that way anymore, and that I've gained a lot more self-confidence since back then.

I agree with this.

The superintendent at my former school *always* showed her cleavage. It's unprofessional, and frankly--it ain't pretty. Not that pretty cleavage would be acceptable in the workplace, but it's just adding insult to injury that we're subjected to that wrinkly, leather-skinned, smushed up cleavage. You know what I'm talking about--don't act all innocent! Oh, and she's super short so most people have to literally look down to see her, so that just adds to the problem. It is beyond me that nobody has said anything to her.

I wear a D cup, and I never show cleavage at work. I wear a lot of high-necked tops and scarves, and I particularly like loose-fitting blouses that don't draw attention to my chest.

DH loves low-cut tops, and I do wear them when we're out just the two of us. Why not? I don't wear anything distasteful, in my opinion, and if my husband wants to admire my body, I'm happy to let him!

I just wish I had some cleavage... ;(

Ha! I don't-I like my lack of cleavage!

But if I did have cleavage I'd probably flaunt it at appropriate occasions. Meaning a night out-not so much at work.

i've seen some bad implant cleavages at work. Think they underfilled the implants. You can see the krinkles (crinkle? eh, i'll use both)under the skin, like how a cushion seams crinkle? yea, only it was under skin...

Don't! There are so many tops I wish I could wear but I just can't because they don't look right. I'd love to be flat-chested.

yes i am...all talk and no action (pics)... :(sad ;(

Ditto to Haven. I tried on the EXACT SAME dress as a friend of mine who is a B cup. On me it looked "Put those things AWAY!" On her it looked SOOOO cute. It sucked because I bought the dress, so I happily gave it to her since it looked so good on her. (I bought it at a vintage store that didn't have fitting rooms)

Have you guys seen loaf boobs (or uniboob)? Christina Hendricks has it. Don't get me wrong, she's lovely, but the docs who did her work put them way too close together and now the skin between is coming up and makes it look like one boob.

Google uniboob. It's nasty.

Athena, wow I googled it (no idea who taht was), and I agree.

Hmm I always thought she was ALL real...

I think cleavage is fine as long as you're not at work. I like to look at boobs! I also think you can show cleavage without looking like you're advertising for sex. A little bit of cleavage when you're otherwise conservative looks good, IMO! Just don't show EVERYTHING!

For the record, I'm a conservative dresser who rarely shows cleavage.

Everything was smaller then though. She was pretty skinny in the pic. When I gained about 30 pounds, the first 10 went to my chest! I wasn't complaining :cheeky:. Unfortunately the remaining pounds went elsewhere.

ETA: They could be fake too. I have no idea. My point was that when people gain weight your boobs get bigger, some more than others.

i saw some pics where her boobs looked really square on top and wonky! surely real boobs dont look like that, right?

I agree that they look like they *could* be implants, but it could also just be undergarment choices.

that's true. i have no boobs so it was hard for me to see how natural boobs can possibly take on that shape. you know, she hasn't really gained that much weight, but her giant boobs make her appear a LOT heavier. Her waist is still tiny, but you almost dont even see it!

they look real to me? I think it is ill-fitting clothing that causes the wonky look

The old lawyer says that showing cleavage in Court is just wrong.

DF, that was actually pretty funny! (Well, I think so anyway!) :cheeky:

First of all I don't GAS what anyone else thinks.
Secondly you speak of "the cleavage" as being something new when it has gone in and out of fashion for hundreds of years.
Thirdly, it's distracting from other less flattering lumps lol
