Any of you out there with smaller diamonds (in my opinion less than around .5 carats)in a solitaire ring? I have a size 7 finger so I am trying to get an idea of what it would look like. Also if you could give some comments about why you went with a smaller diamond that would be helpful as well.

Thanks

There is a under 1 carat thread that has alot of smaller diamond solitaire. If you go to the search you can bring it up. In my eyes all diamonds are beautiful no matter what size. I am a fan of the 3/4 siz myself and have 2 at that size! Good luck on your look

Oddoneout, there are some pictures of mine
here. The second thread is all about "under 1 ct. diamonds" so it might be helpful for you. Some are pretty darn close to 1 ct, but there are a lot of ~.5s there too, and many different finger sizes.

I don''t wear a lot of jewelry and would be uncomfortable wearing a large, expensive diamond. Also, I never take my ring off and I can be pretty hard on my hands, so a smaller diamond was a lifestyle choice for me. I''d never wanted a huge ring, although I probably would have gone .5-.6 cushion if it had been up to me and would have put it in a super-low bezel setting. But my FI completely surprised me with the ring, before I''d ever had the chance to drop hints about what I wanted, and although he got a couple of things wrong, he mostly got it right. The ring suits me, although I can''t wait to put a thin half-eternity band with it! Kathyinjapan (see her posts in the first thread I linked) has the same size center stone as I do, and the half-eternity I really want, and the look is TDF!

This is my thread from when I bought my .55ct diamond from Whiteflash. I am a size 7 too so this should help you a lot.

Mines a smaller stone too. It''s a .65 OEC in an old art deco setting with side stones ( baguettes and small accent stones). I saw it at Langs Antiques here in San Francisco when we were looing for rings and fell in love with it. To me my diamond doesn''t really look small, just average, and I don''t even have tiny fingers. I''m a five.

Mine is 0.35ct and I wear a size 6/6.25, you can see a pic of it as my avatar

I went for quality over quantity and I think it suits me well

I LOVE your Ering and Wband together - perfection!

Thanks everyone. I really like all of your rings!

I forgot to add does anyone with a smaller diamond know if it is possible to get some detail on the mount/basket (it might be limited because the lack of space...I think).

thank you

If you go to Niwaka''s website and scroll through the engagement rings, you can get an idea of some lovely designs with smaller diamonds (most of the rings seem to be around .25-.5 ct). Not many of the designs show the basket, but toward the end, the Iris, Fuga and Water Lily do, and they''re very pretty. Even if this isn''t exactly what you''re looking for, these rings definitely prove that smaller doesn''t have to be boring!

Hi there! My center stone is .70 ct. My husband chose it because it is a D color, SI1 (totally eye clean and sparkly!) It was a lot cheaper than the 1 ct and bigger stones, so it was a good deal. I wear a size 5.5, and the setting also help it look bigger, but a size 7 finger would still look good with a .5- 1 ct stone! Here is a picture for reference.

size 8.5 ! And a .60ct ACA. Here is the picture that WF had sent. Believe me, it looks a lot better (and bigger) on my finger! Alas, there are no hand shots because I can''t seem to take a decent picture. I love the ring but have developed a mild case of DSS

Even if I don''t get a larger diamond anytime soon, I will have nothing to complain about.
