Hi. I am new to this forum. My DH and I are having my diamond reset. It was my grandmothers diamond (.50, VVS2, F, RB). Although we can afford a much larger diamond now, I am keeping it for sentimental reasons. I have fallen in love with the look of Simon G. I really like this ring. I would have to have it custom made to fit my diamond and I would change a few things about it. I don''t want the diamonds to go to far down the shank, and I would like to add a touch of YG somewhere. What do you think? Also, does anyone know of any other sites where I might find the same "look" so I have plenty of ideas to take to my custom jeweler?

Hi JA. I too love just about all Simon G''s designs. The one pictured is definitely one of my favorites. Halo''s are so popular now, and I think it will definitely make your 0.50 ct stone stand out. I love the idea of adding a touch of yellow gold to the ring. Of course I am biased because I love 2-tone jewelry, and I did this to my halo setting I recently had custom made. See my avatar -- 18K accent in the gallery. I''ve seen quite a few rings with lovely gallery filigree in YG as well as one of my favorites that had yellow diamonds bezel set in yellow gold and then set in the opening of the split shank. I''ll see if I can find the pic and post it here.

Here is the one I mentioned in my previous post. It's a Michael Beaudry (love his designs too). I really love the idea of the bezel set yellow diamonds. Wish I had thought of it before I had my ring made.

The Simon G has princesses down the sides -- how about yellow princess cut diamonds and yellow gold in the gallery?

Do you have a jeweler that carries Simon G near you? Simon G may be able to change some things about the ring (i.e. diamonds not so far down the shank). Also, a lot of Simon G rings come available with the yellow gold accents you''re looking for. I was considering a Simon G ring and I had the choice of all white gold or just yellow gold accents in the gallery, similar to what Diamondlil posted.

You should definitely check out Michael Beaudry. He''s super expensive but you can probably get a jeweler to make something similar--he has absolutely gorgeous styles. Also try JB Star. Again, a little pricey but definitely good for inspiration. Keep us posted!

Thank you so much for all of your ideas. I have been having fun looking at all of the Michael Beaudry rings...and dreaming. I also like Blackburn rings, although may be a touch too antique looking.
