Hi

Things are moving well with my project and I saw a wonderful concept sketch from my ring designer. In the design he included a small round accent diamond low on the head of the main stone. He had this 0.025 mm round sitting in a small square.

The sketch was very good but when I went looking online to see other settings like this I found very few examples with such an accent. The Richard Landi setting attached is nothing like my design except for the side accent which is close. I have found lots of images of little rounds set in round shapes but very few set in a square (I am getting a modified square main stone).

Can anyone point me towards other settings or photos to give me a better idea of how this might look in a finished piece?

The piece above is clearly 'finished' and I don't know of a picture with this ring on hand. But it is quite popular to use a small diamond attached on the side to mask the culet of the center stone showing between high prongs. You may find a few such styles at Whiteflash, Jewelryexpert, Weddingband... And HERE's one more not unlike the Landi piece shown 'on hand'. Very popular...

The design is more like a Verragio in YG, with 2 pear sides, a GOG Jubilee is the center stone in a platinum head. I then have 7 small stones from the existing wedding band, 6 of which I am setting against the knife edge of the ring and 1 for the little accent. (the other side will match).

I wanted to see more examples of the accent, all I had seen had round-in-round from Scott Kay and Whiteflash, so thanks for these additional pointers!

Not sure how much you really like browsing for jewelry, but you can surely find serious inspiration and design refs. among the AGTA (WWW) awards designs. This may sound a rather basic move, but I have yet to hear about them often on PS.

A relatively new PS poster seems to be resposible for the making of a few; at WWW / "About the Designer" / the 2002 AGTA Platinum Honors and '99 Spectrum designs carry such 'surprise' diamonds ...

How about this? Maybe you've already seen it .
This in platinum not YG with a 0.05 melee (instead of 0.025) and no sidestones but it's a knife edge and has a square modified center.

Yeah, Whiteflash has quite a few with the side accent. I know my wife does not like the accent set in a circle like that. Thinks they look like headlights! Her friend has one stting right under the head and she did not like it. The truth of the matter is that I like the concept my designer has come up with, but I want to make sure that element is not going to spoil the ring....

I know the designer really wants to add this. I may show him the following example where it does not look like chrome around a headlight!

I will discuss this with him next week and have him draw some close-ups to make sure I like it, or it's back to the drawing board!

A poor bezel 'like a headlight chrome'

True, I guess. Diamond car lights! Yay

Just thought this is funny. You may ask to get to see the wax for the setting before it is cast (if this is how it will be done), stones in place and all. The thread about Mark Morell's work by 'AppreciativeOfExpertise' shows what I mean.

Here's one with round 'surprise' diamonds on the sides of the center, but not bezel set. Squares could be suspended in a similar manner, with no "chromes" (WWW) Peter Storm hangs princess cuts like this in his settings

Gulp, sorry if I offended. That is an awesome find. Similar in some ways to what I am doing. They say the "hidden treasure" is channel set, it looks like it is floating. Very cool. Thanks you!!!
