Show me your statement solitaire necklaces!

Fun project! Do you have a photo of your solitaire pendant? I had a similar experience, where I first bought a small bezel solitaire pendant and soon realized I wanted something a liiitle bit extra. :)

I'll share with you the inspiration photos I collected during my project, mostly floral designs.

And here is my pendant made by Maytal Hannah, which I wear 24/7. It's perfect for me, though sometimes I have to tuck it into the straps of my sports bra to prevent it from hitting my teeth during hard workouts. :)

@diamondseeker2006

it looks even more incredible on your person! it's got the qualities of a signature statement pendant necklace yet completely suitable for daily wear!!:clap:thanks so much for the additional images, most notably, the neck shot

I somehow missed your post with the neckshot request, but I didn't have many pictures so I did post that one! Thank you so much! I do have to remember not to make or buy things that don't fit with my casual lifestyle, so these do work for me. I am hoping you have an addition to this thread in the near future!

Wow, thanks for sharing, and it makes me feel so much better to learn that you had a similar experience! I really admire your collection and that necklace is perfection :)

I’m hoping I could come up with a two-tone design so that the necklace would match all my other jewellery, always.

Mine...both by Caysie of CVB Inspired Design

This one was made to use a .80 recut family stone

This one started out to be for the family stone and then I decided it had to have an old cut! So then I had to make the one above!

Stunning! Can we see more of the first one?

Thank you! I don't have a neck shot of that one, but here are a few more pictures from Caysie. As you can see, she carried the side gallery design to the back. For reference, the center stone is .80 cts and 6mm.

@diamondseeker2006

you wouldn't happen to have an image, of the back and profile edge, of your octagonal pendant, would you??

Thanks for your sweet comments above! I don't have those pictures, but I'd be glad to take them tomorrow. That pendant is solid platinum and just has a hole drilled through for the chain. So it is substantial but not too heavy due to the size.

This is ironic, but my family stone was originally set in a milgrain bezel pendant and I also found it too plain and small! So it turned into two new pendant projects!

Here is mine but I can’t find any neck shots and it is currently residing in the bank vault bc I rarely wear her! She is not very elaborate but she is big and blingy so I’m not very comfortable wearing her day to day. This is actually the first necklace that I ever bought and originally thought it would be an everyday pendant! Ha! 05FADE8B-6679-4C0D-92D0-92056FEE3915.jpeg

Oooh another statement pendant suitable for everyday wear. :kiss2: Today is turning into a good eye candy day for me. Thanks for sharing =)2

And do you wear your new pendants often?

I got the round one last December. And a few weeks after I got the octagonal one, I sent it back because I decided I wanted the next size larger chain (I had sent a WF dbty necklace for the chain originally, but due to the pendant being solid platinum, I decided I'd like a stronger chain). So I honestly didn't have much time to wear them before the pandemic, and I just haven't been going out much since then! I think I will, though!

@diamondseeker2006

do you recall the thickness of the chain for your octagonal beauty?? is it thicker than 1.5mm??

i would, literally, be puttering about the house with that solid platinum octagonal fiery sparkly oec gorgeousness hanging off my neck ...

Agh I hear you on the chain! Mine is 1mm and looks way too dainty to me. What size is yours?

I am having a flower ring pendant made with my 9mm Rubellite from Jeff W, no CAD yet as I did not like the first one sent to me.

Below is a pendant that I like. I would probably have one made in a smaller size with a lab/MMD about 1ct and have polished metal rather than brushed/satin.

Another pendant that I like that I shall have one made with a lab/MMD. The main stone floats/wobbles with movement.

I went with 1.3 mm chain for the round pendant and changed the dbty chain on the other one to 1.3mm, also. My other long and short dbty necklaces are 1.5mm, because I couldn't imagine wearing a super thin chain as a long necklace, and I recently made the shorter one to match.

This is my pendent that I wasted money making! Oh well :) I am learning.

I don’t like how the chain is so thin. I don’t like how the platinum chain looks dull in colour. I don’t like how the bezel is shiny and the chain is not. I don’t like how this necklace looks extremely similar to my berricle Cz necklace (yep, the one I bought and wore to test if a necklace like this would get a lot of wear!).

Sometimes I get in a weird mood about my jewelry. Maybe this piece will grow on me.

Anyways. Loving the inspiration!A82DA9DA-CA33-45B1-9C5C-483EAA3CB067.jpegA213F144-3DBB-439A-A423-58466D50503F.jpeg6045BA3E-2668-4E7E-8FD2-4EE1C97CD99C.jpeg

It’s only a waste of money if you don’t learn anything from the experience. Maybe put it aside for a fortnight and try it again and see how you feel about it then? Maybe consider changing the chain if you still don’t like it after some time had gone by?

@pearaffair what about rhodium plating the necklace? You can rhodium plate platinum - most don’t in order to develop the platinum patina. But this could solve your concerns.

@pearaffair IMHO, cable chains are not the shiniest of chains, however, it suits fixed station solitaire necklace such as yours.

I prefer box type chains for pendants to be worn via a bail, as I like the way they shimmer when twisted.

DK :))

Not a waste at all! It is beautiful.
The details that you find you don’t like are easily adjusted by your jeweller. Replace the chain with a slightly thicker one, and have the necklace either a) polished or b) matte finished once the new chain is on, so they match. Perhaps consider adding some detail to the top (a single line of chasing, or milgrain) for delicacy. It will break up the solid look of the bezel.

Enjoy the necklace and customize it into your dream piece!
