I have a 0.52ct D VS2 super ideal that was in a ring and never worn. So I set it into a necklace. I think it’s much too dainty for me but silly me, I love platinum so the project was $$$$$$$ and I’m going to live with it for a while.

But I would also like to dream of cool setting options for future.

@DorotheaBrooke and @MakingTheGrade have some awesome necklaces with a single diamond set into beautiful floral designs... but I’m sure there are more ideas out there and I would love to see them! Whether you own it or just admire it, post here please :)

You get me. I thought I wanted timeless but I think I want something EXTRA! That pendant is so cool but I’m dealing with a white round diamond sooo these have attracted my notice (Sholdt and Stephanie Gottlieb):

One of the reasons why I decided to re-set my mum's 1.96ct MRB into a bangle and not a necklace is that it would be too small around my chunky neck on its own in a simple bezel setting!

I am hoping to get a pendant made that can be worn either as a slider or traditionally with a bail with a 4-5ct lab/MMD Heart shaped stone one day.

but if you were ever interested in a pendant necklace in the future. you can put an architectural geometric halo with a nice air gap around a stone to make it more signature statement(y) substantial ...

I like this idea! I went and looked for pics of Art Deco / target halos and mostly found pictures of rings but those can be modified to fit a pendant. I like the idea of using colored stones in the halo, or doing multiple halos - inspiration pics from google here. The first is my fav:

i like the first one, too.

i like the third one as it has an air gap and is crisper geometrically to suit @dk168 and her style

personally, i'd go for an even larger air gap. just love a gemmy octagonal halo around a roundy shape center
 
Good ideas, and I shall bear them in mind.

The heart pendant is high on the list for lab/MMD, after a small 1ct OEC as a ring though.

I think it could work for the OP too - would it be “statement” enough for you, @pearaffair?

What could also work as a bit of a left field idea could be to set the 0.5ct MRB in this kind of target setting, and then perhaps have a tassel of seed pearls emerge from the bottom, like a spray. I’ve seen that look really pretty, the only issue being that it’s no longer about the solitaire. It would make for a very pretty pendant though!

Yes very pretty and so tactile. That tassel would be fun to run through your fingers.

Thank you so much bling_dream19! This is a special piece for me. Hubby had it custom made for my 60th birthday.
 
Not really a statement piece, but it’s one of my favorite. 1.57ct center, 0.60ctw ears, all JK oecs. It needs a thicker chain and I’m thinking of using 1.2mm yg beaded diamond cut or 2mm oval rolo.
