I have a few different stones that are unique cuts and I'd be interested to see what everyone else has and considers a unique cut?

So...

These are in my bunch that need shooting.

Re: Show me your SPECIALITY CUT stones...flaunt em if you go

This isnt' too special I guess, but I do think the cutting is very cool, and I haven't seen another like it.
I'm talking about the tanzanite 'cushion' on the right.

Gawd, how I love that Tanzanite!!!!

Re: Show me your SPECIALITY CUT stones...flaunt em if you go

How do you define unique? I’ve seen so many concave cuts and fancy facet patterns that they’ve become common to me. When I think unique, I think of freeform (kite or some symmetrical but wiggly curvy outline) or the “bubble” designs that John Dyer is famous for, or even a stone embedded within another gemstone.

I think this one might count; it's Richard Homer's stargazer cut. When worn, it looks like a citrine sun. When I take it off, and put a white piece of paper behind it, it looks like there is a hole in it and you are looking down into it and there's a little star. The weird part is there is no hole, it's just a dimple on the table. The pale yellow hole looks fully three-dimensional and you can move it and look all around inside. It's multi-dimensional, like Dr. Who's Tardis! The effect is almost impossible to capture with a camera, but people wig out when I show it to them.

Here's a link to the original thread:

I think it's awesome, and I set it in a gold solitaire ring.

Here you go then. I think these qualify. They are a pink Tourmaline and Tanzanite Wobito Snowflake cut.

LD - I love the snowflake cut and the artistry necessary to cut it.

Here is my Munsteiner amethyst - I love it! The "table" is actually two facets at an angle, which highlights the ever changing carving.

And here is my Smmoky Quartz Liquid Flower. I got it as I was veyr curious about the cut and the quartz was quite affordable. The cut is amazing: there are only 4 facets (3 on the pavillion and the table), which are gently curved.

Re: Show me your SPECIALITY CUT stones...flaunt em if you go

About 50 cts tw citrine briolettes. Since it might look a bit weird on (Mr) zeolite, I have one mounted and wear it as a pendant (but the pair might work in San Francisco).

Re: Show me your SPECIALITY CUT stones...flaunt em if you go

Very nice, zeolite, that is the prettiest heart shaped stone I've seen.

I LOVE the opposed bar cuts, will have one someday.

Does this count? It's my rose quartz, which the cutting was inspired by a church window. Uli from osirisgems.com is the lapidary.

Wow - gorgeous! And huge (talk about stating the obvious). What are the stats?

Re: Show me your SPECIALITY CUT stones...flaunt em if you go

Here's the vendor pic of my 0.92 ct liquid flower Songea sapphire. In real life it's a bit more yellowish. I'm sending it off to Daniel M for a simple bezel, and thinking of rose gold to minimize the yellow and bring out the green.

Re: Show me your SPECIALITY CUT stones...flaunt em if you go

And here's my zircon from Gene, kind of a fat marquise cut, but still specialty enough to post here.
