Show me your Solitaires with BIG eternity rings!

Hi RWS (sorry shortened) :) , thank you so much. Believe it or not it was done by a local jeweler, very well respected cause they have been around for super long, but local nevertheless. They made it very secure, with the setting just extending a hair beyond the girdle so the diamonds never touch a ring that it's stacked with. It is platinum and there is quite a bit of metal so it's built like a tank, but it is very comfortable and set super low. Here is a side view. Did you want name and contact info?

Thank you! Oh I'm tempted. I'd love a ring that both looks nice but is also super sturdy with a low profile. Yours is exactly what I'd like! When I'm ready to proceed with a ring I will reach out to you and get the details about your source. I have a few items I have to finish up first though. Thanks!

Not at all, I appreciate all of the feedback! I've been wearing my little "tester" for a few weeks now, and you cannot even see the milligrain in real life unless you look super close.... the milligrain blends in and looks like facets of the stone! The plain bezels are lovely too, but I can very clearly see the bezels. The milligraining makes them "disappear" at least in my eye! :)

Hey, you like what you like! The tester helps tremendously with making a decision with confidence! I get what you mean with the “disappearance” you describe with milgrain

Testers are SO helpful!! I actually had a lady o
Thank you! My ring size is 4.5. My e-ring width is about 2.5mm, which should be the same as yours. The eternity band is 3.1tcw, 19/20pt, 16 stones, and as wide as the stones in the band, so approx 3.8mm. I attached a profile pic of this band with my previous stone (different stone, same setting), to give you an idea of how high it will sit against a Tiffany style setting. The stones are set very low in this band, but will definitely damage your prongs if you wear them together daily. They are comfortable to wear together as long as I'm not doing housework or typing. However, as much as I LOVE the look of the rings together, I rarely wear them together.

This is exactly the scale I'm looking for!! My eternity will be set in a milligrain bezel band, so that should make it comfortable for everyday. The 2ish ctw tester (below) I'm wearing now is extremely comfortable, I'm guessing 20 pointers will bring the new eternity to 3ish carats total weight, which I can't imagine would add too much bulk??

Also, is your e-ring band knife edge?

Thanks again!!

A 20pointer band will be slightly ‘taller‘ than the tester in the pic, so it will hit the prongs at a higher point, creating a slightly wider gap between the two rings. My e-ring is knife edge.

The last set with rounds are beautiful and look really nice on your hand . What is the specs on your 3 carat if you don’t mind , thank you :kiss2:

Now that’s two all-stars literally competing for space on the finger

:love:Thanks yssie!! Yep.. only Kim K could carry that look off.

Ditto everything @LLJsmom just said. I never wear these together like this, but for the sake of these photos…

Eternity has twenty pointers and solitaire is a 4ct. Finger is 4.25.

Omg. Love your rings and the proportion, @yssie. Is that a CVB setting? What do you typically pair with the solitaire ? Do you just wear a spacer or a completely different band? Thanks. Sorry for going off topic, OP.

Which one, the milligrain band?

Thank you so much!! ❤️ I’ll keep it short so as not to intrude too much - the solitaire mount is Erika Winters’ Margot, and I normally wear only a plain 1.6mm rounded band next to it! And when I wear this bigger eternity I pair that with a 3mm plain rounded band ::) I don’t wear this eternity and solitaire together - my fingers aren’t long enough for that stack

But of course it’s stunning! It’s EW Margot! You have beautiful hands and jewelry, @yssie!

Your solitaire =)2

Apologies for the delay! My solitaire diamond is a 3.10 ACA Hearts and Arrows from Whiteflash. The Color is I and clarity is SI1 (eye clean). The platinum band was custom made by Whiteflash.

The more I wear my little tester the more it is growing on me.... It is so very comfortable with the bezels. I bought a 4mm tester band and it was sooo uncomfortable. I still think I could go slightly larger though? I wish I knew the point size on these! I would like my diamonds to be a smidge bigger!

Also, I have fallen in love with pear sidestones and seriously think I need to reset my solitaire!

Below are some inspiration shots! I would love your thoughts!!

1. My 3.10 carat ACA with a 3mm milligrain bezel "tester" eternity band

2. This is @thimp's Leon Mege with a 3 carat center and .85 ctw sidestones. Her eternity band is 3mm.

Screen Shot 2021-12-29 at 4.33.24 PM.png

3. And I love this set from @Dee*Jay , but with a smaller eternity! Her center stone is 3.37 with .72 ctw sides.

I would LOVE advice on what point size to get for a new eternity band and what size for side pears to reset my solitaire! I'm really liking the subtle .35 pears.

And to complicate matters even further... what are your thoughts on bullet sidestones?

Thank you, thank you!!

I love the 3mm tester band on you! I would suggest asking for hand-applied milgrain rather than cast for a more delicate milgrain. Could you tell your jeweler that you want the final band width to be however much larger you want the entire band to be and let the jeweler figure out the melee size?

I prefer pear side stones to bullets. Pears are my favorite three-stone look! As for size, maybe something like 0.75-0.78ctw?

I LOVE a round with pear sides - so elegant! I like bullet sides too, but I think I prefer bullets with step cut stones. Pears are more of a brilliant rather than a step cut, so their flavor of sparkle seems to match a MRB better to my eyes.
That sort of makes me sound insane, but these are the thoughts that occupy the dark recesses of my mind

Thank you! :) Hand-applied miligrain would be gorgeous!! Do you happen to know of any examples floating around on Pricescope? I have worked with David Klass on two other projects, I bet he would do a lovely job.

I think that size would be perfect for the pears!

I was going to say David Klass as well! His milgrain work is beautiful. Victor Canera also has examples of rings with hand-applied milgrain on his website.

Yssie,

I know you never wear it…. But this looks incredible! I’ve never seen your set before :appl:

Does anyone have a solitaire they wear with a larger stone eternity ring? I am thinking of upgrading and would love to see your solitaires with 3 ctw plus or 3.5 mm and larger. Thank you!
This is 8.01 ct To wear an eternity band, it needs to be small. I have several and alternative. The eternity band (larger) featured with my ring is 8.09 ct)

Well after all of that, I have decided not to get a larger eternity ring but to add sidestones to my solitaire. I'll start a new thread! Thank you to everyone for your input, Pricescope is the best!!!

I say BOTH!

Anyone? Perhaps I should explain more about what I am trying to achieve... Below is an inspiration shot... I LOVE the scale of this set!

INSPIRATION:
  • The diamonds in the band are .20 pointers and it measures 4mm.
  • The center diamond is 1.8 carats
  • I'm guessing the engagement ring band is around 3mm based on the scale with the wedding band??
  • I love the flush non-knife edge band. Does anyone have a recommendation on what band this might be?? I'm considering replacing mine with this one https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...d-with-a-scalloped-six-prong-head-item-126003 (but with a 3 mm - instead of 2 mm - band, if they can do that)
  • Inspiration finger size = 4.5 (mine is 5.25)
NOTE: Instead of a shared-prong eternity, I am planning on a milligrain bezel band due to scratching concerns and comfort.

This James Allen eternity is perfect, if they are able to make it with larger diamonds and in platinum. https://www.jamesallen.com/wedding-...lgrain-bezel-diamond-eternity-ring-item-62168

Screen Shot 2021-12-19 at 2.49.10 PM.png

MY CURRENT SET:

  • 3.10 ACA carat center stone
  • 7 pointers for the eternity ring
  • Custom knife-edge platinum band
  • Finger size = 5.25
NOTE: After a long saga with scratching to my e-ring prongs, I had my eternity reset into a channel set band. I'm not completely in love with it, so my next band will have miligrain bezels.

I have also never been happy with the shape of the head (not visible from this image) so if I don't replace the band, the prongs still need to be redone.

Here is a picture I took with a fakie I bought to try and get a visual for scale... It measures 3 mm with 2.2 carats. I definitely need bigger to get the scale I'm looking for. Would 3 carats work, or do I need 4? What point size? .20 like the inspiration, or maybe .25 given my larger finger size and center stone? But of course, the milligrain bezel will add to the overall width of the band as well, so maybe .20s would be perfect.

I would love any advice on size of diamonds I should get for the new eternity band, and thoughts on replacing my e-ring band!

And please post any inspirational rings, including specs and finger size.

Thank you!!
Math is not my strong suit, but it seems your solitaire is 3 carats in your current eternity band is 1-1/2 carats. If I’m mistaken, you can stop reading now lol! But if that’s the case, rather than get a bigger eternity band I would get another 1-1/2 carat band to match your current one. You will still get that blingy look without the bulk of bigger stones in your eternity band. And I don’t mean wearing your engagement ring between the two matching bands. I personally do not like that look. I’m talking about stacking your two eternity bands first, and then topping it with your engagement ring.
