LGD 2.07 carat IGI VS1 F in a Verragio Insignia 18k pave setting.

VideoCapture_20220730-085615[1].jpg

Stone and setting are stunning!

Something to look into: there is not much of the prong tips that wrap over the edge of the diamond, and it looks very thin. Estimating the amount there as 0.5mm would be generous...it's definitely less than the width of the prongs!). It also looks like it's been pressed down or thinned out around the stone a little?

It's possible that this setting is actually for a smaller diamond than the 2ct you purchased but the jeweler had it in stock and decided to make it fit. A few things visually are hinting to me that this might be the case:
  1. The prongs look bent outwards, and have been flattened somewhat from the side view
  2. VideoCapture_20220810-090617[1]~2.jpg
  3. Less of the hidden halo is visible "outside" the center stone in the the top view than the images of the same ring on the website. (I could not find the exact same one with double prongs, but this one INSIGNIA-7104R is very close just with 6 prongs)
  4. 600-style-image-white-1815-1599498587-INS-7104_R-White-Pics_03_thumb~2.jpg
  5. the girdle of the stone might sit a bit higher above the hidden halo than on the same setting stock image
I would be very concerned about the security of the stone with those prongs! This would be a major issue for me and I'd be going back to the jeweler to see if it can be corrected. The whiteflash site doesn't have this exact setting listed, but similar ones in the Insignia collection indicate that the setting is available for center stones up to 1.99ct. just because that size for the setting is available doesn't mean that the setting you got was actually the right size.

That setting was only available by authorized dealers, Robbins Brothers, is one of them. It had a 2ct CZ in it on the Verragio display. Robbins Brothers is 100% responsible if the stone falls out. The prongs look identical to almost all of their MRB style rings on their website.

This is my 2.6 ct I, VS2, I got from Ritani with an uneven setting. I reset it in a halo setting, and I love it so much more now. Before and After.

I actually used a moissanite setting for this. I bought the diamond cheaply and didn't want to invest a lot in this ring, since it's just a fun ring for me. I really can't tell the difference in moissanite vs diamonds in the small stones, and I'm happy with it. I don't think I'd choose to do so with my main ring though (just for a mind clean thing).

So lovely! Did you go through the custom cutting route, or was it an in-stock stone he already had? Tell me more!

It was through his custom cutting program! I ordered a 2.5 ct in H color, and it came back 2.79 ct and F color from AGS (Jon actually tested it as an E color). I definitely benefitted from his custom cut policy of not paying higher if the color comes out a better grade!

My wife’s final and forever engagement ring upgrade. 2.26 ct F VS1 HTHP GCAL 8X. Big thank you to @DejaWiz for helping me along the way! Her two favorite settings are the vatche u-113 and CVB Jovyn. I asked David Klass to make her an inspiration of both settings in platinum.

I wear the 5ct MRB, 10.12ct oval, 11.47ct radiant & 10.22ct emerald the most.

The 3.69ct & 4ct MRBs don't really get worn anymore. I was thinking of turning them into a pair of earrings, but they are too different in size I think to be a good match. I might turn the 3.69ct into a pendant. The band of the pear is too large so I need to either get it resized or turned into a pendant as well, and I doubt the 4.15ct emerald will get much wear now that I have a 10ct.
