I thought it would be fun to have a dedicated thread to showing off your wedding set (or sets) with and without Gaps vs No Gaps for easy searching and comparisons when looking for inspiration.

Right now the internet (Pinterest lol) is so saturated with ultra-skinny bands with high peg head settings and no gap/flush fitting bands, but I know there's a lot of ladies on PS that love the gaps on here so let's show those off too!

Post format for easy searching:
Team Gap / Team No Gap
E-ring style, stone shape
Band style(s)

If this exists already, please link it! I tried looking but couldn't find one dedicated to just this topic :)

No right or wrong answers here, only gorgeous sets!

To start it off, I'm posting my favourite set of the moment that has a gap. I don't mind the look of them being totally distinct

Team Gap
Solitaire, round 1.25ct, Tiffany Harmony

I voted for Team No Gap. While I can appreciate a gap, and it can look beautiful, I think I have a stronger preference for rings being more flush than not.

I have accumulated more bands since but this is my original wedding set.

Team Gap
Solitaire, vintage asscher 2ct in custom Single Stone setting
2mm bezeled eternity, alternating french and oecs - “Hannah” band from Single Stone.

Team gap here too

3DEFBD64-2387-4B91-824A-1B5875556FA8.jpegTeam ‘almost’ gap - lol! When Whiteflash reset my newest diamond, I asked them to make a small donut on the ering so the diamond didn’t overhang the wedding band. Most of the time though it looks like no gap but I do like the gap look!

I was team no gap when I reset my original diamond several years ago, but I kind of wonder if I would like a small spacer, any thoughts? DK setting, 1.07 G VS 8 pavilion cushion.49CEE2C9-B8EF-4EA9-9014-DBF972425267.jpeg

You can get an inexpensive spacer from Etsy and try it. I really like wearing a spacer with my rings.

I like the almost gap look, it gives a distinction between ring and band.

That is exactly what I was trying to achieve. However, to have completely done that would have required a larger donut and I was afraid that then the ering would just wobble against the wedding band. It works better I think if the whole of the ering setting precludes anything from sitting completely flush. I like being able to see both rings without them blending into one.

It is the nature of the pear, the ring wobbles askew with any band I pair it with, and it does take some getting use too but I have grown to love the askew look

I think you will find many gap lovers here.

This is my old set. I loved the gap.

My current set. I had expected a gap but the setting was higher than I expected so no gap now. I find it a bit conventional and a lot boring.

Team Gap..I like seeing each ring separately.

I think this may depend on how much space you have between your finger base and knuckle. I will take photos today, but I think with having a shorter finger and a smaller space, the gap is sometimes not the best. That's my opinion, for my finger. I'll do some photos to illustrate.

I prefer a gap. Keeps the rings separate and distinct.
No right or wrong of course. Purely personal preference.

I completely agree. I have very short fingers and there’s not much room for a gap. It’s pretty, but not functional for me. Plus being left handed, I would find the gap uncomfortable personally when clenching my fingers to write. So I like things to fit tight, as it’s most functional. But I do love the look of both gap and no gap. I can stare all day at all of the rings and styles!

As a size 8.25 with short stubby fingers, I agree. If my fingers were longer, I'd probably consider a gap. I wear my diamond ring with a plain band, and to be honest it probably looks best alone. When I had it reset, I asked DK to make it so that a plain band could sit flush.
I'll admit, I'm a little jealous of those of you who can gap and stack. ;-)

team no gap, I have a spacer to stop them rubbing

Here's one of my rings with a curved band that's close to flush. My finger fits a size 6 with only one ring. More than one, I size up. The stone is a 3.09. I don't have a ton of room even with a 1.5 mm curved band. It's close to my knuckles as is. PXL_20220901_195558490.jpg

Team gap! None of these bands are mine as I went to Cartier and Tiffany’s to try different width wedding bands on.

The top band from Tiffany’s (3mm) I think is the winner!
