All the options so far are great, so I have nothing to add, but I do want to say that I think you should get a ring you love and not worry about whether it looks or doesn''t look "engagementy" or like a wedding band. Who cares? If you want to wear a ring on your finger to symbolize your relationship, it matters not whether you are legally married or "just" committed. I have a few friends who are not married, but in their hearts they are committed for life, some wear rings and call one another "husband" and"wife", some don''t. To each their own. So get a ring that sings to you and forget about the social conventions. Anyone who knows you will know what the ring means, and people who don''t know you can assume whatever they like!

Thanks! I agree, I will look for something that I like regardless of what others might think it is. I like the engagementy looking rings though. But now that I am going to have to deal with my car dents, it has changed my perspective on getting the ring.

If you do get the ring, try the Natural Sapphire Company - they have alot of choices in your price range - eternity band and otherwise. Good luck!

I have this ring and thought you might want to see it

Thank you!!! I just went to your original post and saw the profile pic, which is what I have been wanting to see, and it is absolutely fabulous! What size finger do you have it on? You say it is a 1.74ct diamond - do they have different settings for smaller ct. size? A smaller sized diamond, like the one I would probably have to get, would look like it fell into a giant gorge or something! Thank you again for showing me this pic - I love this setting, I really do. I am wondering what the yellow gold one looks like IRL?

I was just thinking...I can only imagine what the Vatche Alexa in yellow gold would look like with that 1.74 "O" RB diamond at GOG that I have been drooling over ever since it was posted... If I had a cool $10,000 lying around...

Thanks D&T and tigian!

Elegant, the rings are a size 7, but I''ve lost quite a bit of weight so they are too big for me now. I''d say my finger is probably a 6.5 now, but I don''t know for sure. There is dental floss on the back of the rings holding them together and keeping them on my finger! LOL I''ll attach a not very good picture I took today, but it gives you an idea of finger coverage. Yes, they do have different sized mounts for different sized diamonds. The ring is so much prettier in person, I hope you get a chance to see it someday or better yet -- own it!!

Thank you! It''s good to see it on your finger - yes, nice finger coverage. I am happy to hear that after a couple of years owning it you are still a happy camper! That''s good incentive for me to lose some weight - so what ever little diamond I can afford looks bigger on my finger. Good to know that they have different sized mountings. Thank you so much for posting another pic. A recent one!

Congrats Elegant! You should check out langantiques.com. Click on engagement rings. The first few pages are really expensive but they have tons of beautiful and unique rings in your price range. I will try to post a couple that are just under $5000. To me they would be perfect for you because they don''t look like typical erings or wedding bands.

How funny, I actually was looking at all of my ring bookmarks and saw this exact ring and others when I went to this site- thank you! I actually live about an hour away and I haven''t been shopping or site seeing in SF either. I might just swing by for a peek at the goodies over there. This is a very pretty ring.

Awesome! Ya''ll should definitely do that. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your car...enough to make you sick eh?

I really think you should get whatever ring pleases you and don''t be concerned what other people might think. They can mind there own business! I love that Vatche setting in yg, if that color metal appeals to you. It would also look great with a cornflower blue Ceylon sapphire mounted in it. This is exciting!!

Wow-you''ve got some great idea pictures posted in here-I''m excited to see what you end up with! And Happy Anniversary!

Ha! Yeah - I am still trying to recover...
I love my car very much - she is my baby! She is a reflection of me (pretty sick, right?) and if she is all scarred and ugly, so am I... I think what makes me more sick is that the person was such a that they couldn''t fess up. I can''t deal with it right now. I am sure it is going to cost way more than I can afford at this point because everything on that car is expensive. Like, me backing into the other car, my fault, but I can deal with that - not having my car just sit there, on my property, and have some jacka** hurt her...

Thanks for the concern!

Thanks packrat and risingsun - it is exciting. I know it is going to take a while, because looking at the things right now that are under or at my imaginary limit, aren''t satisfying me. So I think I am going to actually have to start making an effort to have a ring jar and put money in it, loose change, and every week or month contribute to the jar. What I want is about $10,000 and right now, I would rather pay off my bf''s little car! So now that it has been decided, I shall save and he might surprise me - he usually does with things...we''ll see!

I will definitely share when the time comes, but I appreciate everyone''s help too.

Elegant, what about something like this? It has a little of that Vatche flair, it''s under budget, so more for the car, and Dover jewelry has been v. nice in all of my dealings with them ....

Circe, that''s a pretty ring!!

Elegant, if nothing already made up isn''t striking your fancy, what about making a list of things you like/dislike, and contacting a couple vendors to see about having something made for you? Gypsy gave me the idea a while back to save pictures to a specific file (or, files..I have like, 10 of them now..sigh) and make notes of what''s good/bad..then you can click thru it easier and get a better idea of what you like.

I think Michael Beaudry does some really nice angled work. Pearlman''s has a wide selection for inspiration. Pearlman''s

Circe, that is very similar, very pretty, and very affordable! It does have that Vatche flair! Thank you for that.

That is a good idea...lists actually help me too. Thanks!

I have some pics of what I like but have actually never had anything designed and made for me, and that is a bit intimidating in and of itself.

Elegant not to be rude, but in your first post you say that you've openly complained about your situation but are patient, and then in your defense you say that neither of you really want to get married. It is a bit confusing to the lay person....

Anyhow, I hope you get the anniversary ring of your dreams.

Surely you don't mean to be rude, but I think that you are. When you say, '...a bit confusing to the lay person....' I find it to be very condescending.

Elegant, sometimes people forget that this is a DIAMOND forum, not an engagement/marriage forum, sorry! WhatEVER your situation, the important thing is you''re happy and you''re getting a RING! Do you not like the blingy 5 diamond bands? I have one and I wear it alone and it is full of fire and sparkles. I could wear it left or right hand, too. I hope you get the ring of your dreams, and you wear it happily ever after!

Ah - she didn''t bother me at all...not a biggie!
I like eternity bands sometimes, but I just don''t know about the 5 diamond bands or the 3... I think my bf prefers that I not have an engagementy looking ring, but I don''t care what people think. I like the antique look as well. I also like the bezelish ring I posted and that one has been on my mind for a while now...

Thanks so much for your support! We''ll see what happens!
