I'm looking at different color oval diamonds size 2 carats and bigger and I'm looking to put it in a WG halo. I would love to see all the rings on here which are warmer colored as I'm looking at a K right now.

(My 1st ring is a G colored RB and I never even thought about color until this time because the jeweler showed me such an array of options).

I was wondering if the warmer diamonds look whiter in person than they do in pictures, if anyone has any insight into that. Also, how they change during different lighting conditions I find it very fascinating - Thank you!

:wavey: Hi, I am just going to forewarn you of one thing. Unless someone posts a picture of a K in a halo, you may not get an accurate picture of color. I see people post lower color stones that look totally white in a picture because of the lighting, but they are not colorless in real life. That is why I think stones in a halo are going to be more useful for you so that you can see the contrast of the halo to the center stone.

The is my K-L in a WG halo. :) It's an old cut, so the warmer color just gives it lovely pastel flashes in most lights.

Hi! I wear a 2.3 carat GIA O-P color OMB. I am not sure if this is true of all lower-colored diamonds, but mine definitely looks different in different lighting conditions. Sometimes it looks icy white, and sometimes it radiates warmth. It looks warmest on overcast days, and whitest in stores with fabulous lighting like Barnes & Noble. O-P is a great dealer warmer than a K, so this may not be the case with your stone. And my jeweler is amazing and set a yellow diamond under my stone's culet because he knew I was going for warmth, so I imagine that affects the way it looks, too.

But I do love the way my diamond always has a surprise in store for me. She's very moody, we are kindred spirits in that way. ;))

Mine is a k. Here it is in ytwo different halo settings. But keep in mind these were taken in the sun. It's a 2.20

I think the round halo, BC it has bigger melee, didn't contrast as much in color.

Beachyblondewaves - I still love the oval you are looking at. Like I said before, the K is a real chameleon. I would say in most lighting, the K I have looks white and I only rarely see tint. However, I think that is largely dependent on how well the diamond is cut and also the shape. For instance, I heard marquises and princesses show the most tint in their corners. I'm not sure how it is for ovals. I'm including three pictures, all taken in my car, in various types of sunlight and you can see it will go from looking white to showing definite tint.

Looking white:

Rainbow reflection (but can see slight hint of tint):

Definite tint:

You're ring is Soo pretty! I love both the halos! Do you have any pictures in other lighting? They look perfectly white in the sunlight

L/M marquis is white gold. The studs on each side are K's. A oval will probably show more color than a round. The lighting is natural window light and it seems like a good representation of what I see 90% of the time.

My GIA M OEC almost always looks white face up unless next to a really high color stone.

Can look white like this...

Or tinted like this...

Re: Share your warm diamonds K color and lower, I'd love to

I recently did a little color comparison with what I had, if that helps:
https://www.pricescope.com/communit...comparison-with-j-d-and-yellow-stones.220137/

This K was described as a "high" K by James Allen gemmologist, but who knows...

Having seen different colors in person (and as an owner of a J and a K), I start noticing tint in J and definitely in a K. That is not to say that a K or lower cannot be lovely, they most certainly can.

CBI crafted a wonderful stone. The warm color just adds to it. I was very surprised to like it so much and now maybe even prefer it. The best of both worlds, the performance of a very well cut diamond with a splash of color.
