Hey all, having difficulty expressing what I like in words, I can certainly point out what I like but when it comes to explaining why, my diamond/jewelery knowledge fails me. (If I make NO sense in this, please forgive me, I really don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm trying.)

I know I want:
*Round Brilliant *White Gold *Halo *Pave 1/2 Band *Minimal metal showing on halo & band *double prongs (8, 4 sets)

Scott Kay Ring http://store.royalfinejewelers.com/store/i/is.aspx?path=/images/Scott Kay/M1657R307_UR.jpg
*Here the diamond sits too high on the halo, how do I communicate this?
*I do like however, how the band meets upwards instead of at the bottom, again how do I communicate this preference?

Prefer a halo similar to this, minimal metal showing. http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-platinum_7814
and I like how the front view of this is, where the pave diamonds sit flush against the center?

Also, I think I prefer the halo to be slightly squared but to accommodate a round? Does this make sense? Cushion???

Just looking for help so I can effectively communicate what I want to the jeweler when the time comes, thanks so much.

I can't help you out much with the vocab, but I would post this on the RockyTalky thread and you will likely get more responses! Best of luck!

Okay so... take a look at my ring, the shank doesn't have pave on it and it's a different shape stone and it has single prongs, but other than that... what about it fits your vision? I'm trying to put together a blurb for you of what you want...

So far I think I've got v-cut micropave cathedral cushion shaped halo ring with pave on the shank 1/2 way down on each side with double claw prongs holding the round center stone. No airline, 1/2 pointers on the melee.

BTW I recommend Steven Kirsch for this project of yours.

I think she wants a Cathedral version of that. But no pave on the basket/gallery wires.

If someone has good photoshopping skills, perhaps they can draw on one of these pictures to decipher what she is looking for??? Just a suggestion. I am not that computer savvy. I just provided the link in my original reply to show a gorgeous cushion halo on a RBC.

i just went to visit Steven for a matching band for my halo ring 2 days ago (separate thread later on my part)... and saw some of his new designs... he made a NEW prototype ! it's eerily almost exactly what you want! to briefly describe, it's a gorgeous round brilliant diamond set in the most delicate cushion halo (slightly squared), on a thin pave band with cathedral shoulder. absolutely no metal showing! the only difference is that it is with single claw prongs, and with 2 thin pave bands soldered together, sandwiching the engagement ring as if one would wear 3 rings together.

let me know if you would like a photo of that !

Tell the jeweler exactly what you said above. I think it's very clear what you want in the way you described it. Photos are always a huge help when you are trying to describe something. Putting a round stone in a cushion shaped halo is done frequently. Here is an example from Beverley K. http://www.beverleyk.com/semi-mounts/8wr499-c-d-d-m.html
