Can someone please help me try and verbalize what this exact setting is (specifically the prongs). I am having my jewler try and reproduce this, but they keep sending me the three basket settings. I like the curved part for the center stone and then the "regular" straight line for the basket on the sides.

FYI this is for an Asscher center stone with two trapezoid side diamonds.

I've included their CAD so you can see what I mean.

Thanks!
Justin

Did you give them this picture to model? If so, they're missing the mark a lot and you may want to consider working with another vendor to make the setting. First of all, in the CAD, the center stone is sharing prongs with the sidestones, which is not the case in this picture. That's part of the reason there's no roundness to the central stone's basket in the CAD image. Also, they missed the cut outs in the cathedral shank.

Well there's a few things I see. One is the cathedral in the shank. There should be a gap in the cads where the shank swoops up to the head. There is not

The next thing I see is that they are sharing prongs prongs with the traps and center stone. The inspiration has 3 prongs on the traps and 4 on the center.

But I think the issue you are having is that they are incorporating the prongs strait into the shank. Your inspiration has the bottom part of the shank, then it has the prongs placed on top of it. That's what allows them to swoop the way you want. Imagine it like this. The current cad looks like an upside down barstool(prongs and shank one thing). You want it to look like a bowl on a table (table being the shank, bowl being the prongs).

yup - I gave them that picture. I bought the center stone from them and during the time that I was figuring out which style I wanted, they charged me a 150$ CAD fee on my credit card. This will be the third time I've gone back to them! I really want my ring finished before the 23rd next month, and I feel like I've invested so much time (and money) into getting this setting already.

Thanks everyone for helping me verbalize this! It's difficult for a non-native jewlery speaker articulate what I want. I figured a picture is worth a thousand words, but apparently not. I even highlighted the parts that you guys pointed out!

I'll let you know if I'm still having trouble, but this will be my last shot at it with them before I head off to another jewler.

Thanks again everyone - the input from PSers is invaluable for all of us and we really appreciate your expertise!

As Neil mentioned above, the top of the shank where the prongs sit is also very different than in the CAD. It's as if each stone has it's own little platform, and the prongs are sitting on top, not built into it.
