Setting - Can't decide!

Hi everyone,

After 10 years of marriage, it's about time I update my ring and my hubby is on board. I am debating using my current 1 carat princess and putting into this Scott Kay setting : http://www.scottkay.com/tiara/d/1172_c_308 or selling my princess stone for a round and going with this setting: http://www.solomonbrothers.com/Jewelry_SS4945FFSWBPL-C_134346?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shop&utm_campaign=feed&ibp-adgroup=pla&gclid=CJGH1MT3_boCFa9lOgod_l0AdQ

Thoughts? I know - they are totally different. I can't decide (not such a terrible problem to have)

I like the SK princess setting much more than the one for round. Are you going to upgrade your princess?

I am an EC or RB whore not a fan of princess. Do you love your princess or are you looking for something different.

Agreed! The Scott Kay setting is stunning and I don't usually like princess.

Hi Carrie,

The Scott Kay mounting is beautiful however, even though the picture does show a princess set in a 4 prong cast head, This type of prong style is usually used to set a Radiant or cut cornered diamond. The corners of the princess diamond can get damaged if not set by an experienced diamond setter. See if the top can be modified for your stone. As far as your choice is diamond shapes, what you prefer to see on your finger is your choice, both styles have their own amazing look. Maybe widen you preference and look at some other diamond shapes like the Radiant which has the look of princess with out the corners. Good luck and have fun!

THANK YOU all for your input. I am definitely leaning toward the Scott Kay. It is a beautiful setting and I am glad others like it as well. They do make it available for a round, but I seem to like it best with a princess (at least in pics). Good idea too about the radiant cut. However, to save on costs, I think I'll keep my princess.

Scott Kay.
Make sure you get v-prongs on a princess though, you need to protect those points. Any reputable jeweler will know what a v-prong is.
