I have been reading a lot of the threads, including the various knowledge articles, but just recently registered and looking forward to this adventure!

The GF and I have 'shopped' around and I have a rough idea of what she is looking for - a cushion cut halo on a unique setting. She fell in love with the Tiffany Solstice but we both want a great ring and know we can likely get a better bang for the buck outside of a store like Tiffany's.

My issue is this unique setting - apparently French style that is elegant. I am not really sure what this means and was hoping someone here may have an idea - perhaps even pictures! :)

Thanks in advance!

EDIT 1: Would this qualify? I think it's beautiful. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/280771357992078324/

Welcome to PS! :wavey:

So you're looking for a Solstice replica? Because that's the double halo right? The ring you linked to is gorgeous but not a Solstice or a halo. I personally don't know what "french style" means unless she's referring to french cut stones.

Thank you so much for the welcome and the response!

She wants the double halo similar to the Tiffany ring, however, she wants the part on the mounting right under the head to look similar to the Pinterest link above. To be honest I am not sure how the two would look together.

What do you guys think? Have you ever seen anything like that?

thanks!

French style is a type of pave.

The Kirk Kara you linked to is as far from theTiffany ring as the earth is from the sun. One is a double halo, the other a solitaire.

I suggest you get a better idea of what she likes as she will be wearing it. There are a lot of pictures online of different types of settings.

Also the pave on that kIrk Kara is not french style, it is bright cut.

the first question you need answered is what does she mean by French Style.
And the second: Does she want a halo setting?

Thanks for the reply! I hope I clarified things a little with my previous post. She loves the double halo that is the solstice, however, wants the part on the part under the head to be similar to the design on the pinterest link above. Thanks again!

The gallery design?

That's the part under the halo that you see in profile.

A quality pave double halo, with a custom gallery is going to cost you about 5,000 or so.

Thanks for the info! I can even go higher than that, however, it's finding a picture that is difficult.

She basically wants a double halo cushion cut with a thin band w/ diamonds on the upper shank (about 1/3 down the band). From a top view the halo with the centre diamond should look as one and the gallery should be something similar to the pinterest link above.

I've searched and haven't been able to find anything too similar - my worry is in our minds it looks better than reality.

I'm not sure how a double halo with that shank is going to look - to me a double halo is modern, while that shank and gallery are very vintage. What appeals to her most about this ring? The engraving? The milgrain? There may be a way to incorporate elements of what she likes. What is your budget? I don't know if what you want exists already so you may have to go custom.

Gypsy, thanks for the lesson in pave. :)

Me too, thanks! Budget is ~$10K. I think she really likes the two circles with the triangle in the middle. From her perspective she want to be able to look at the ring from its side and see the elegance that is the two circles with the triangle in the middle.

So I guess the next step is to visit a designer and get something drawn up. Out of curiosity what do you guys think about the combination of the two?

I think it will be bulky and ungainly. Too much for my taste even if designed and built by a master of proportion and style. Which most jewelers are not. And a wedding band will sit awkwardly with it. But it doesn't matter what WE think, it matters what SHE thinks.

If you wanted to try the stock setting route, Gabriel & Co or Beverly K may have something to fit.

Here are a few G&Co rings that look close:

There are 86 pages of halos and I did not look through them all.
