Hi everyone,

I found an eternity-style 4-prong 18k YG bangle setting that I liked. It's ~20 grams, and holds ~60 stones.

Vendor has quoted ~$2700 USD for just the setting. Stated rationale is that casting is expensive since it's a large piece.

Does this quote seem reasonable?

Thanks!

Anne

Hi @anne_h -

I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing you're looking for, but here's a link to my diamond bangle, made by David Klass for me earlier this year. It has 5ctw of 5 pointers in it, ideal cut stones - very white - in white gold. It cost me 5k, I think. $5.5 maybe? I can't remember exactly, but this rings a bell.

TA - My understanding is that DKJ have recently raised their prices. I also do a lot of work with them, so both these things may effect any quote they give you.

Thanks Mrs B. I assume that price is for the completed piece.

I am looking to sanity check the quote I received for JUST the setting. $2700 USD for an 18K YG setting only, ~20 grams. That does NOT include stones or any labor to set them.

Open to any feedback on the setting quote...

@anne_h , do you already have the stones & that's why you've asked for simply the casting quote vs. a "package price"; if you have the stones, would you have this bench also set the stones? (I'm guessing not since you've not asked them how much they would charge for that, but don't want to assume anything)

Sorry Anne - I thought the quote would make it obvious that the setting for mine must have been considerably lower than $2700. I can't recall how much my setting was, but it was under 2k. On the other hand, it was also 14kt rhodium plated. On the third hand, mine was large. I was *very* happy with the workmanship on mine; the setting was precise and neat. I'd give David Klass a call, and see if you can get a quote.

HI:

Many years ago I had a bangle made by a US vendor--the setting was costly. Unfortunately that stock mount broke and I had to have it remade, locally, custom (and much heavier). Most expensive bracelet I own!

cheers--Sharon

Thanks everyone.

Yes Molly, I already have the stones. I would want them set by a different bench, not the company who quoted me for the setting. I only asked that company to quote since they happened to have a setting I like (and I'm very fussy)... I don't know them and have never worked with them before.

I found the quote high, so wanted to sanity check it.

Thanks everyone for your feedback...
