Now what I'm going to do is TRY (try is the operative word) to post a picture a day (or the equivalent thereof). I'm going to try to find gold crowns in Europe starting chronologically (something like that, of course it's not going to be exact). Then I'll change and post on a new theme or I might post on two themes at once.

Now that I have the hang of posting pictures, I'm going to make a concerted effort to post them. Maybe others can do the same! I don't mind if every post isn't about a "Royal jewel" per se. I understood your point about giving some history and context (and I've learned a lot, and that's why I think we're here).

I want to do a series of posts about carriages in the UK, if that's OK. So I'll work on these two projects.

I'll post again tonight. I have to go now. I'm probably in a different timezone than most of us since I'm in HI in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Sigtuna (990), one of the oldest cities in Sweden, is known for its Viking Age history and rune stones. In medieval times, coins were minted at Sigtuna, and legend suggests it was the royal seat for a time, signified by the crown on its arms. The crown appeared in the city seal in 1311, and carried through to the municipal arms granted in 1971. Blazon: Azure, a crown Or between three mullets argent.

oh yes, for sure they get the best...but we can have it too! and you know, they only have the best of everything because the ''people'' foot their bills!
we pay for them to stay in those homes, and wear those jewels...silly when you really think about it..we pay for royalty to exist and yet we have homeless and poor people everywhere just trying to survive...and here the money that could help them goes to put camilla and charles on $45,000 horses for a jaunt through the country estates we pay for...mmmmmmmmmmm food for thought huh?
but i will admit they are a spectacle and we love our spectacles don''t we...i just wish we could find a way for everyone to have enough and no one to be left wanting first...but enough of truth and reality bites, so lets on with it shall we?

that must have been very hard for you. i know we all remember exactly what we were doing that day and how we found out...i was standing with a friend, tom cohrane, actually i had just met him, that was the day we met, and we were standing backstage after his show, and some random buy ran up, in a baseball cap and blurted out "princess diana was just killed in a car accident!" and then he ran away, and that was it. so tom and i looked at each other, said nothing, but we were thinking what an aweful thing to joke about..who says something like that? and of course it had been true. i heard about it on the radio later that night on my way home. and it brought me to tears. it still almost does whenever i think about the whole thing. i am kin to wills and harry as i lost my father when i was 10 years old to a car accident as well. and i know the sense of horror and loss associated with it. circumstances were also shady with my father''s death being a prominent business man...he was 35 years old. RIP robert david flesch. i miss you.
and for diana, we all miss you!
