I originally had my heart set on a Princess. But have since decided I love the brilliance of a round. My bf is letting me pick out my own ring. My budget is $16k with setting. What do you think of these? Any you would suggest. After the post the other day, I’m concerned about deciding on an H. Seems my choices for Princess in my budget is limited

Setting all can be set in either Princess or round

Would you be willing to get a slightly less expensive setting now and maybe upgrade later? It would just give you more wiggle room for the diamond.

In terms of colour grade it may be wise to contact WF to see if the diamond you chose is a low/high/solid colour grade. I do think in yesterday's thread the diamond in question was somewhat of an outlier. Some, including myself, found the I colour stone the whitest!! So I do think it would be good chat with WF regarding your choice.

What’s making my decision so difficult is that I want my ring to be my lifer. So no upgrading. I’m not adverse to a different setting. But would like something that I won’t want to change in a few years.

Okay great! Have you decided if you want princess or round? Your selections were nice! I do think stocks are low now as there isn't as much available as usual, perhaps after New Years there will be a bit more

Maybe a hearts and arrow cushion from BGD could be an idea too? It almost performs like a round but looks like a square :)

sooooo many options haha

There's always the Octavia as well - kind-of-square with the performance of a MRB :D

Just wanted to show you the size difference of the 2 stones you posted. This is on a size 6 finger with a 2mm shank setting. Have you been able to try
on both round brilliants and princess cuts? Most people think of rounds as more classic and will never go out of style. Princess cuts tend to come and
go out of style. Try to figure out what you will like looking at long term.

With respect to your setting choices, I would want to know how high off the top of your finger the top of the stone would be. The last one looks like
it would be pretty high which is usually not favorable (to most people). When you've got a lot going on in the gallery area it can push the stone
rather high.

I think that’s the difficulty of living in a small town and shopping online. I just picked settings I thought I would like. That particular setting didn’t have a video nor recent purchases to compare. I know I want a solitaire setting and I wanted something dainty. I don’t like a lot of bulk

Thanks. I think I’m leaning towards princess although I’ve not had the opportunity to try on either with a diamond greater than 1.2. We both agreed it look small on my size 6.5 finger. We agreed 1.5-2.0 but that seems out of my range. Going to rethink my settings

I don't think that size is out of range!! Just a few tweaks, maybe a compromise on the setting and colour grade. I do think that diamond in yesterday's thread was an outlier, so you can always check with WF about the colour of the one you choose.

I would definitely take a look at other settings as I think thats a good way to increase your diamond size.

But where can she find one?
I think the only options would be to seek a custom cut via Rhino at August Vintage Inc. or David(?) at DbL, or go direct to Yoram himself at Gemconcepts!

I think that, if you have always wanted a princess cut and are still leaning that way, you should go with princess.

Having said that, if you haven’t checked our cushion or Octavia, as mentioned above, maybe that will be worth considering before your final choice.

If Yoram can find a rough to cut.

Have you tried rounds or princesses on in person? I thought I wanted a princess cut right up til I tried one on and realised it was too pointy and the faceting was too splintery for me. I ended up with an old European cut in a squared off fishtail setting that satisfied my preference for a square-ish look but with the faceting of a round. See if you can try on some shapes locally even if they’re not the size you’re after.

I will tell you that a round is classic and timeless. Princess cuts are more trendy and may not always be in style, as tyty already mentioned. In fact, we see few people coming here looking for princess cuts these days. If I were to get a princess cut, it would be an ACA for sure. But I think a round will be a better forever stone, to be honest.
