Hello Everyone.

I am going to buy my Wife a pair of Round Brilliant diamond stud earrings for Christmas. I have never bought round brilliant studs before and have a few questions.

Cut is important, I want sparklers. I assume GIA/AGS Excellent/Ideal is the way to go, right?

I am color sensitive. I don't think she is, but to be fair I will probably see them more than her since they are on the side of her head  How low should I go on the color scale. Typically I stay in the D-G range, can/should I go lower for earrings. I really like the prices of J/K and could get a bigger size for the same price, but I haven't seen a K in person. I am not sure how warm they can look. Setting will be white gold/simple 3 or 4 prong.

I want these to be eye clean. Most SI2's should be ok right? They are only going to be .40-.50ct each.

Thank you for your help.

Hi ANONYMOUS! :wavey:

Yep, you can definitely go a bit lower in colour for earrings. Signature/ACA stones at places like Brian Gavin and Whiteflash are exceptional in the cut department and face up beautifully colourwise, sparklewise... everythingwise! I have a pair of ACAs from Whiteflash is the size range you're looking at (.54ct each). One is an I and one a J in colour, and when worn they are WHITE. I see a teeeeeensy smidge of colour when viewing the J up close from the side, which naturally, I don't do very often becuase they're pinned to my ears  I am all for dropping to the J range in colour to jump up in size, or just to save a bit of dosh!

Such a lovely idea for your wife, please let us know what you choose!

Not that anyone seems to care lol, I placed an order with James Allen today. I worked everything out through the virtual chat. It was very easy and Jose was very friendly and helped me figure everything out.

I was told the earrings should be here before Christmas. Let's just hope my countries customs clear the package quickly :errrr:

If you can, post a pix of the earrings.. I would love to see them.. my husband gave me princess cut .55 studs from Bluenile years ago.. I used to hate them .. they just didn't seem that sparkly so I put them in our safe deposit box and forgot them.. recently there and looked at them and they are are bitchin now! Your wife will be so thrilled.

I hope they clear quickly too. Maybe you could keep an eye on the package and when you see it reach your country ring up and pay the duties is they will move it straight on :))

I just went through this whole process and yes cut is King with stones. Go right to WF they have a great upgrade policy and we women get DSS.. and I agree you can go as low as J with earrings but no lower. Bigger is better. I have 2.41 and I love them. I started with 1.50 then 1.90 and sooo happy now..But I didn't use a company with upgrade policy and I paid through the nose to upgrade. White flash has amazing stones as seen on many PSers .

Thanks for the advice and replies guys. I contacted FedEx about avoiding customs delays and such and they said since I requested that I pick up the package at the depot I can pay the duty/tax there at the time of pick up without having to fill out a Power of Attorney.

Last year I had a problem with FedEx not contacting me regarding the POA and my package from JA was almost returned.

I will take pictures, but not until after the holidays. Right now delivery is scheduled for Ded 24th :errrr:

Good luck! We'll look forward to seeing them!
