Ritani cushion cut halo - informed diamond choice?

Hello everyone,

I am looking at a purchase from Ritani with the below diamond and setting. I am very comfortable with the setting and the carat chosen for a 4.75 size ring.

That said I am purchasing from Australia and cannot inspect in person. I have been sent a magnified picture, HD video and spotlight video, but the jeweller has noted they don’t provide OGI reports for fancy shapes, only rounds. Is there anyway I can assess the quality of the stone? It is the facet plot I want and up near or at the top of my price range by the time I add the setting and 15% approx for GST and possibly duties.

I'm also still unsure about the pinpoints being right in the middle and feather close close to the edge.

I have the stone reserved and I would appreciate any thoughts people might have on it.



I figure all diamonds look nice twirling around and sparkling on a video - but I can upload them tonight when home from work if they would actually be of assistance. Thanks for looking.

Also interested to know how firm these prices would be. I was offered a 1.5% PS discount, but I notice GenesisDiamonds claim to sell the same setting for 2190 - almost 350 cheaper?

Anyone online that would venture to give an opinion?

I feel I can see the inclusions in the photo. Just an honest photo or an indication they are too close to the surface?

Love ritani, love the settings! I just wish you could get an ASET of the stone, as youre shipping it over seas and it would be a whole to do to send it back.

Had you considered working with maybe pearlmans or whiteflash?

Thanks for your reply Niel. Nice to hear a general positive about Ritani.

Thought I had looked at most sights, but didn't know Pearlmans, so thanks. I can't find the exact setting at either, but as you say the problem is more with the lack of imaging on the stone.

The rep at Ritani indicated that if I made an order they would get OGI imaging of the stone when it came in, prior to setting. It appears the stone is not with them, which I didn't realise. I also understand OGI imaging to be less reliable than what you've suggested, but maybe better than nothing.

It certainly would be a long way to send it back, and then claiming back tax etc, it wouldn't be fun!

FYI if anyone has read through to this point - the Genesis setting was not cheaper. Just highlighted to me the FX rate used for AUD pricing. Definitely recommend anyone in Australia get their quotes in USD and use a service like OzFOREX to get another few percent saved on the exchange rate.
