Ok was browsing a site and these caught my eye as they looked really scary to me. So was wondering if I’m a scardy cat or if you find them scary too.

Gosh I'm not keen. The turquoise one is  quite like some moon face rings though.

Those are a little creepy so I might not go for those but I do have a lovely antique cameo ring that I enjoy very much!

The second two look like antiques.
I know a lot of people, mostly young people, who are attracted to anything that was once fashionable but is now just strange. So in certain contexts, yes, I would.

I don't like the top ring. It looks like a distorted Japanese Noh theater mask.
The other 2 are ok, they are a little like cameos, which I love.

I like a lot of unusual things, but these are not them...

;-)

Wink

Well said.

I can't stand those little cherub angels either. Look totally evil to me. I also prefer stars on Christmas trees to other creepy lookin' angels

Now you know more than you should, lol.

One that looks like Matthew mcconnaughey of course @Texas Leaguer
I'm still not talking to Matthew after he stood up all the fine ladies at the GTG.

And I have put him on notice that all sales of rings with his likeness will be indefinitely suspended.

This topic reminds me that I have a very unique collection of tiny geodes with 'faces' in them from early in my career in the gem and mineral sector. These little delights are (or were) mined down in Mexico. We marketed them as "Illianitas" - named after the baby daughter of the man who discovered them.

We sold tens of thousands of them to buyers all over the world. They were small enough that we even made jewelry out of them- earrings and pendants mostly. Out of every hundred or so, there would be one with a face and I put them aside. Some had very wacky personalities :geek2:. I will pull some out and post some pictures tomorrow. They are very cool, but I hadn't thought about them for years!

I think that face jewelry is really unique and reflects the times. I see far more skull rings than cameos. That Noh-like ring is really cool and unique... would I wear it as a ring? Probably not but as a pendant-perhaps. I also think that a Rocker may wear that. I saw a program on Netflix that showed rocker-styled jewelry- that really was different. I see sunburst style faces and buddha faces at craft fairs in various pieces of jewelry.

Omg do you recall the name of the show? I have a thing for rockers and gawking at them.

I would definitely wear a man-in-the-moon moonstone ring.

I have a beautiful cameo pin and ring that were my grandmother's that I'll always cherish and do wear from time to time. I also have a very beautiful art nouveau yellow gold ring with a lovely young woman's face etched in the gold with blue sapphires in her hair that I've worn on my third finger. It's a long ring that almost extends from knuckle to knuckle. I bought that in an antique store but it could have been a reproduction.
I wouldn't wear those distorted faces, though, @icy_jade. I agree that they're a little creepy! But a beautiful face isn't something I wouldn't wear! :)

I kind of don’t like looking at these pictures, so I’m thinking that’s a “no!” :lol-2:

Pinto Bean, IIRC it was actually a travel show where they made a stop at a jewelry store in LA I think. Also some old time Rocker guy came along with the host. They discussed the difference between Rocker and Rap styles of Jewelry. Give me some time, I will remember it.

Yeah... the faces are super creepy. A cameo is as "face-y" as I can go, I believe... and those really aren't my style either.

Gahhh noooooooooo

That would scare the crap out of Hubs! We don't let our kid play with dolls because Hubs is terrified of dolls or anything that's a human replica.

Ok a few more... I think these look less scary... but still not something I can wear...

I look at them and can’t help but think of trapped spirits/souls. :errrr:

All from 1st dibs by the way.
