Okay, my last question to the forum today (I promise)

I belevie I have the correct ring size as a 5, but wanted to ask if this soudned right for a 5''3" 105lb petite woman?

I want this to be a surprise, so I don''t have a definitive size, but from other rings of hers this seems about right erring on the big size to make sure it initially fits.

Any others who know what a lady this size usually wears would be helpful. I''m not way off am I?

I''ll relax and see if anyone responds...thanks again,

It sounds like you''re in the right ballpark, but maybe a little large. I''m 5''5" 130 and I wear 4.25-4.5. But I have pretty small hands. Good luck

My gf is about 5''4" and weighs 110. She wears a size 4, so I think you will be in the ballpark, erring slightly large just like you wanted.

What other rings of hers do you have. I have heard that the right hand is usually a half size larger (I know this is tru of my gf but I don''t know if it is the norm) so if she has a ring on her right hand ring finger you could make an educated guess from there.

Good feedback, thanks.

Diamond D, it all depends on her bone structure. My mother is 5''5", 103 pounds and wears a size 5. I am 5''4", 130 pounds and wear a size 3.75 (hey my fat is on my waist).

I think you'd be close enough for your purposes. It really depends on how bony or fleshy her fingers are. I'm 5'4", just a tad over 100lbs, and I wear a 4.25-4.5. Also, she could have thin fingers but larger knuckles. Then you'd need something that can slide over her knuckles.

I don''t know... I''m 5''4" and 118 lbs and I wear a 7.25! When I was younger, I was around 100 lbs and I still wote a 7.25 then! If you''re certain that she has small, narrow fingers, go for it. Otherwise, try a 6 so that it can be easily sized up or down...

(This is just a pet peeve of mine because when people buy me rings as presents, they always assume that I''m a size 5 and then sometimes I can''t even get the ring sized-up!)

weight and ring size are definately NOT always related.

I am 5''2-1/2" and 100 lbs, and wear a 4.75 ring on the left-hand wedding ring finger and a 5.5 ring on the right-hand ring finger. BUT, my SIL is 5''7", same weight (100lbs.) and wears a smaller size because she has the most graceful fingers I''ve ever seen.

SO, it is hard to say. Better to error on it being too big and they size down rather than too small and she can''t even wear it until it gets sized as well as the jeweler having to "thin it out" a little in the process of "stretching" it to make it fit.

Knuckles are a big deal. My ring is a 4.5 to fit over my knuckle, but once it''s on my finger it''s really loose and has a huge gap if I look through my ring, so I''m guessing my finger is probably a good size smaller, maybe a 3.25-3.5. I need knuckle reduction surgery!!!

I agree that it''s better to buy a slighly larger ring and then have it sized down if necessary. A gal ALWAYS will be more flattered if the ring is too big v. too small!

Yeah, weight and ring size are NOT related. I'' m a size 5 - and I''m 5''8" and 145.

Thanks everyone. She has dainty little hands. Fingers not overly long, but none the less elegand. From what you''re all saying I''m pretty confident a 5 is too big but will go with that anyhow.

you can also try this idea from another thread- get a tapered candle, and slide one of her current rings onto it until it stops. Then mark candle- a jeweler can then figure out what size her ring is- even if it is for the other hand, it will be a good starting place.

I''m about 5''4 and 125lbs and my ring finger size is 4.25. I definitely think you should stick with size 5...I''d much rather receive a ring that was too large that I can at least try on. Sounds like a surprise, and it''s kinda unromantic if you have to spend five minutes twisting it onto her finger.

My GF is 5'5" 103 lbs. and her ring size is a 3.75.

geez, you all have tiny fingers! i''m 5 foot 2 inches, 125 pounds, and i have about a size 7 finger! my e-ring is a 6.5, a little snug, but it fits fine. i don''t think weight and finger size are that related- i''m petite overall, but i''m a musician (guitar/clarinet player) so my fingers are muscular from constant work. :) i think it''s better to go too big than too small, it''s easier to size down then up, right? i''ve heard that if you can find a ring she wears on her right hand you are safe going 1/2 size smaller than that (if she''s right handed)...
